A Wandering Esper

Beloved Stargazer

PostPosted: Fri Oct 07, 2011 2:33 pm

Joshua seemed comfortable in taking the lead - he'd been in the Leo Outpost for long enough that he roughly knew where everything was, by now, so at the very least they wouldn't end up wandering in confused circles.

Unless he was actually contusion, but he didn't think he was... The area of impact just throbbed, and he was pretty certain he still made sense.

He hoped.

"Yeah, let's just say I wouldn't have signed up for it if there'd been more info." He said, amused. Not that any of them had wanted to be here, of course, but that was Joshua's attempt at humor.

"Ahaha, and we'll be leading the fray like bosses. But seriously, you think they'll have journalists flocking to interview us, or something ?" He wasn't sure if it would be cool or annoying, honestly.

Fritz ambled along after Joshua like an obedient puppy dog, his hands stuffed into the pockets of his worn jeans. And, just like a dog, his gaze kept flickering from one interesting thing to the next, in awe of each painting, each worn tapestry, each elegant golden fixture. It was somewhat similar to being a kid in a candy shop.

Except without all the fun sweets.

"I would have signed up for it if we got cake," said Fritz, with a deadpan expression, but then he laughed and shook his head, giving a small sigh. "At the very least, I would never have chosen to go along with this on my own. I would have at least dragged my brother along to keep me company."

He gave Joshua a sidelong glance, frowning just a bit. "Y'know, I'm not sure. I certainly hope not. I mean, not that I would mind the publicity, but reporters can be like vultures sometimes, which is a rather unappealing thought. I'd rather not have the paparazzi haranguing me for what sort of skivvies I prefer, after all."

"I don't think cake would have been enough to get me into this, and trust me..." He tried to disguise a wince into a grin. Really, his head was throbbing. "Cake will get me to do some stupid s**t."

"Yeah... I dunno if I would want it, either. My parents must be worried enough as is... They're up in Vancouver, but I can't imagine the school board wouldn't have told them that I pretty much... vanished."

"The cake would have to be really, really good.

"And probably German chocolate with some of that coconut frosting."

Fritz climbed down a step and gave Joshua a slightly suspicious glance. He had caught the tail end of a flinch, which made him worry slightly, but he didn't press it - at least, not just yet.

"I'm certain my parents have not quite noticed I've disappeared yet," said Fritz with an airy shrug. "They're still in London, after all. Mum's job keeps her there. I live in a flat in Destiny City with my brother, Tolliver - although come to think of it, he's probably phoned them to let them know, since he would be the first to notice I've gone."

Thinking of Tolliver made his heart ache, but Fritz quickly changed the subject.

"Do you have any siblings, Josh?" he asked, starting down a second flight of stairs.

"Would probably need to be red velvet for me. Good red velvet. badass red velvet." Not any would have done, no. "With cream cheese frosting. Good lord I want some so bad now. I blame you." A real grin, this time, amused and honest.

"We're gonna pass the kitchen anyway... might as well see if there's something worth raiding." Teenage Garbage Disposal ? Certainly not Joshua, what could have gotten you that idea ?

"London ? That is, England ?" He knew there was a few towns named London, but England what was first came to mind, of course. "Damn, that's a long way to go... What brought you to Destiny City ? Or is it just your parents living there ?"

It could be. Maybe the brothers were born in Destiny City and their parents moved once they got old enough. Fritz looked a bit older than he was, anyway, University student ? Maybe.

"No siblings. Got an annoying younger cousin, does that count ?" Eliza was annoying, but thinking about her worried about why 'Joshie' wasn't answering her emails kind of made his heart ache. "Maternal aunt's in Vancouver, that's the one with the kid. She runs a german chocolatry. Got a paternal uncle in Montreal... Most of my mother's family is in Italy, since that's where she's from. She went to study in Vancouver, met my dad... Rest's history, I guess."

He had no idea why he was talking so much. He was used to being away from his family for long periods of time, really, but this was a very different kind of far. "Sorry... im rambling. I guess I miss them."

"Red velvet," said Fritz, his mind already wandering to picture it. " - sounds delicious."

Now he was not only tired, but hungry. And his stomach was growling, but he stubbornly ignored it.

"And cream cheese frosting is the only way to go, obviously," he added, nodding his head. "I can't deal with that other stuff, the sticky, stiff icing that tastes rather like cardboard and Styrofoam mixed together."

"We're gonna pass by the kitchen anyway...might as well see if there's something worth raiding."

Yes, Fritz liked the way Joshua thought quite a bit.

Sticking his hands in his pockets as he walked, he smiled at the other young man. "Yes, London, England," he replied with a small laugh. "I was born and raised there; Mum and Dad work in architecture there together. I tend to, er...not really speak with my accent, if I can help it." He gave a melodramatic sigh. "Too many people asking me to say things like Bloody hell or things like that, I'm afraid."

His eyes flickered towards Joshua, interest apparent in his green-eyed gaze as his brows rose. "I'm sure it does," Fritz replied, amused. "What's your cousin's name? I'm not sure I've ever been to Vancouver; I've been to Canada, but I was only a child at the time, so my memory's a bit hazy. And the food in Italy is delicious," he added brightly. "I've been there when I was a teenager."

Fritz lapsed into a momentary silence, sympathy flashing across his face. "It's fine," he said gently, shrugging a bit. "I miss my family too. It's hard, y'know?"

"Oh yeah. Fondant." Joshua makes a face. "My aunt will murder you if you ever bring store-brought fondant within a three meters range of her. If you make it yourself it's... edible... I guess..."

They were at the kitchens now, and well, hunger had won over the pain for the time being - because he swerved right into it.

Maybe his head wasn't even hurting that much, who knew ?

"Eliza." He said. "She's 12, so she'd entering that super-annoying teenage phase." Never mind that he was pretty much still a teenager himself - he opened a cupboard to see what was inside. Hmmm... Something nice and simple. "Oh, hay, there's chips in there !"

Hell yes.

"I've been to Italy a few times, but last time I went was before I started going to Azure. And... yeah, it's hard. I mean. im used to not seeing them beside in summer and around christmas, you know ? But this is completely different... This isn't normal and I know they know, and I know they're worrying..."

There was no way the Azure board hadn't called his parents to let him know. No ******** way.
