"I told you, you haven't lived until you've tried the product of the water." He said. He was truly a lover of the water, in any kind. He loved everything about it, especially the fishing. "Now its your turn. Go ahead and go into the water. Ill stand at the bank, and lead you through it."

He said, nuzzling into her and nibbling her ear. He really wanted to see her in action. He surely didn't care if she really caught one or not, though he hoped for her sake she did. He wanted her to learn, but just the want to learn was enough to make him want her.

"You can do it, dudette. I'm here to help." He said, voice soft and assuring.

You were right! Agreeing in that ever amiable fashion, Caely happily gnawed at Wai's prized fish, enjoying the strangely distinct taste it left in her mouth as her tongue grazed the inside of a flap of skin. Too bad she wasn't ready for the words that her husband had next, shrinking against the ground for a moment with reluctance. M-m-m.. my turn?

Craning her head up into the underside of his chin, she was glad for the affectionate nuzzles and nibbles upon her flattened ears and the warmth that filled her belly when he encouraged her. Someone should have had faith in her ability to learn a new skill, because Caelyndei sure didn't! O-o-o.... oh.. ohkay. Don't laugh if I mess up, promise?

Even though she asked, she didn't wait for response, afraid that waiting too long would cause her to lose what nerve she had managed to build up. Wading back into the river in the same fashion she had seen Wai do, her steps still caused ripples across the surface. Trying to still her anxiety, she put her nose to the water's surface and gazed into the water murmuring as her ears strained and twitched at the surface as if trying to listen for her prey. How am I suppose to catch you guys.. when I can't see you?

He watched as she stepped into the water. She looked uncertain, and he wished he could just catch them all for her but that hadn't been what she wanted. She wanted to learn, and he had shown her how he had done it. Now it was going to be trial and error, and hell.. Maybe she'd even get lucky and catch one on her first few attempts. He just watched her for a moment, until she spoke. He listened as she talked to the fish in a hushed sort of whisper and he chuckled.

"Feel it, my love. Feel it. They will start nipping at your toes, and once you see their shadows.. You wont lose them." He said, urging her on.

Feel it? All I feel is wa--yet no sooner had the thought begun to cross her mind she could indeed feel the wag of bodies weaving between her legs. It was hard to be still when she could feel them so close, but Caely tried to wait until she could feel them plucking at her with their suction cup mouths. Eww. Trying not to laugh, he nose sat against the water for what felt like ages before a body lingered long enough for her to feel confident making a grab for it.

Without warning her her head dove under to snatch it and instinctively her paws came together to try to grab it in the same instance. Between all the extra motion and the water resistance her catch slipped away with ease and Caelyndei reared her head up above the surface, sputtering and coughing but without a fish to call her own.

He wanted to soothe her for not catching the fish, but she had been close. It would take practice, but he knew she could do it. He knew deep down that his little bride would be an expert fisherman in no time. With a chuckle, though a soft one as to not have her thinking he was laughing at her, he smiled.

"Good try! That fish was quick, I saw it." He said with a grin. He was going to offer to help her, but he wasn't exactly sure if she wanted help. He saw the waves ripple against her legs and he realized just how much he liked seeing her in the water. It was like bringing his two loves together, and it made him happy.

As expected, Wai made fishing look flawlessly easy, but it wasn't! Still, Caely wasn't ready to give up after just one try and she was glad that her mate didn't come rushing to her aid straight away. If he had confidence that she could do it, then obviously it wasn't hopeless. She certainly expected that if it was, Wai would have been rather quick to rescue her from the awkward situation. So the fact that he didn't was encouraging in its own right as she shook a damp forelock from her eyes and glanced over her shoulder at the blonde on shore. They are fast...

Acknowledging with a small nod, it only made Waikiki's skill that much more impressive. I'm gonna get one though!

Even if they were there all day! Waiting for the water to calm and the fish to return Caelyndei tried several more times with no moe success than she had the first time. But then. Finally. Her teeth closed on something and she drew her head up quickly so as not to allow it to slip from between her teeth, chirping excitedly. I got something!

And that something... was a stick.

He liked her determination, and he laid his belly on the shoreline and watched her some more. Her first few attempts were the same as the first, with her missing the fish and still she did not give up. He was so proud of her, he knew that fishing wasn't easy, and it could be daunting..

But when she said she had caught something, he smiled, standing and waiting to see. After the thrashing had calmed, and he looked in her maw, he snorted with laughter. He simply couldn't help himself.

"He looks like he put up quite a fight, my bride."

Awwh.. I really thought I got one that time! Complaining half-heartedly, Cae gave the stick in her maw an annoyed shake for making her look silly in front of the skilled fisher before tossing it aside. Watching it drop back in the river with a splash and a ripple of waves several feet away. Dumb stick..

Glancing up at the sky as she waited for the water to settle again, she took note of the late noon hour and the sun as it began to droop heavily at one end of the sky. How long had they been out? She'd completely lost track of the time. Hopefully Wai wasn't getting bored, sitting there on the bank, watching her flail around. Jade gaze casting a glance back towards him questioningly. Am I getting any better at aaaaall?

"You caught something, didn't you?" He asked with a chuckle. Sure it had been a stick, but her mouth had closed in on something, instead of being thrown off by the water going up her nose. That was a step closer in itself.

"You will be a champion in no time. It's a skill, like hunting, that has to be honed and perfected. It can be tedious." He said, and stood from his laying position to sit and look at her.

A stick. She stated somewhat disheartenedly. It wasn't as if she'd been trying to catch it either and they didn't move. Maybe if she had accidentally caught a turtle or something she might have felt more accomplished. At least they could wiggle! Wai's light-hearted humor helped to keep Caely's spirits up the whole while, though. Snorting the water from her nose the drenched lioness waded slowly to a different position in the river to ease the stiffness from standing in one place for so long. Moving gave her time to think about her approach--and pray to the gods for a miracle. Please let me catch one. Just one.

Turning to face the shore instead of the open waters, Cae attempted to implement a different technique. Waiting patiently for the fish to graze past her legs before she attempted to flip them towards the shore. While she might not have been fast enough to catch their silvery bodies moving seamlessly through the deeper water, if she could push them towards the bank where they had to fight to escape back into the safety of the deepest parts of the river Caely could give herself more time to catch them.

He watched her curiously, not really understanding what she was doing. She was definitely making her own technique. Otherwise this was just straight odd. He didn't ask her what she was up to, rather waited until he could figure it out or she told him herself. He figured there was a method to her madness.

So he watched silently, a smile on his maw though his eyes looked confused. He couldn't wait to see what she had come up with.

As the first fish to fall into Caely's trap swam by, she used the power in her shoulders to create a wave towards the shore sending the fish skidding across the mud with its pectoral fin cutting the water's surface. Unfortunately as she lunged to pounce it managed to glide on the wavr and escape just in the nick of time. Just barely making it to safety. Several more tries and a few tweaks later, those vibrant green eyes were practically glowing as she surged up on the bank, paws reared and mouth gaping and ready to grab the scaled beast that writhed in the shallows.

Splaying paws pressed it into the mud as it flailed and her fangs sank into its back, making sure she had a secure grip on it before removing her paws to lift her head with the wiggly animal hanging from her pale, mud smudged maw. Slowly pacing up the bank to where Wai sat before collapsing. Caely was exhausted, ashen grey nose flaring with her labored breathing from all the effort she'd put into a day of fishing. Unable to speak soft eyes peered up at Waikiki seeking her mate's approval imploringly. Reluctant to let go of her prize until it had finally stopped moving. Least the silly thing flop right back in the river and get away--how ever unlikely that was.

Her attempts were indeed unique, and he found himself moving out of the way to allow her ground space in order to better her chances of catching the fish. Her first few attempts were unsuccessful, and his desire to help her kept growing and growing. But he kept crushing those feelings in hopes of letting it pass.

When she finally caught one, he laughed and clapped his paws together with an approving gaze. She had done it. Sure it was a unique and interesting way of doing it but fact was, it had been done.

She lay down next to him, and he smiled warmly down at her. Leaning his head down, he licked her cheek, nibbling her ear, and then smiling in affection. He loved his new bride, and her willingness to learn.

Leaning heavily against Wai, Caelyndei finally released the now motionless fish to rest atop her paws. She was sore and tired and still a bit breathless from fighting the water resistance to be quick enough to catch her prey, but she had done it. Thank the gods. Rubbing her face against her husband's think neck as he licked and nibbled on her, her tail flicked behind her, crossing over his. Glad for his approving gaze she still couldn't help but ask once she had found the voice to do so, It.. it's not as pretty as you did it.. but I did good.. r-right?

A still uncertain look filling those gentle eyes. I promise I'll do better next time.

"You did fine my dear." He said warmly, and stood, stretching out his body with a yawn. The sun was going down and he was starting to get sleepy. Watching her fish had taken a lot out of him, even though he had enjoyed it a great deal.

"Come on, lets go home and let you enjoy that fish of yours." He said proudly.
