Osumilite’s guess was unfortunately accurate. Pomona squawked when she was captured, trying unsuccessfully wriggle free. So, this was an occurrence she probably should’ve planned for. Should have, but hadn’t. And she certainly hadn’t planned on being used as a human shield and taking friendly fire.
“ Ow Ow OW!”
Okay, so it didn’t really hurt that bad, it was more the unwelcome surprise that got Pomona. She was still glad to be let go though, and she scrabbled after the dropped orb. By the time she realized Osumilite was making a break for it, well, he already head a good head start. He had longer legs, so she wasn’t likely to catch him, but he still had other orbs, which made her mad. Fiddling with her foot, she yanked off a heel, then glared at the retreating back.
“ You-! That’s right! Shoo! Shoo!” And to emphasize her point, Pomona threw her shoe at him. She figured her heel would reappear the next time she henshined up. Hopefully she just wouldn’t need it before then. Or in the next couple of minutes.
Yeah, okay, so that was a stupid move, but Pomona herself said she wasn’t a fighter.

As Osumilite continued to charge off, he was stunned as something hard hit him in the back of his neck. He stopped immediately and turned around to find a shoe falling to the floor.
"Honestly, who throws a shoe?" he screamed loudly, his voice would have boomed and echoed throughout the empty street had it not been for the heavy rain. He didn't want to stick around for much longer, however, so quickly leapt away after that, his image quickly fading out in the thick rain as he got further and further away.

"Thanks for the back up," Aster grinned as she dusted herself off from the alleyway filth that she had fallen into during the shove. "You're not so bad, Pomona. Not so bad at all. Sorry that I couldn't be of more help...and that you know, you became a human shield."
She laughed as she combed her hair out of face with her fingers. "Nice move with the shoe, too. And you got some of the energy he stole back." She paused. "What are you going to do with it?"

Pomona stood in the rain, staring at her fallen shoe, willing it to return to her. She didn’t want to go hobble down there to get it. Aster thankfully presented a good distraction.
“ Thanks, and hey, it happens. You weren’t bad for a pacifist.”
Aster’s question directed Pomona’s attention to the orb she had managed to recover. She stared it uncertainly, having never actually gotten one before.
“ Erm, good question. I think you're supposed to break them?" Pomona raised the orb to eye-level and stared at it as if instructioned might be engraved on it. " Probably best not to guess though. I think I'll use a lifeline and call a friend about this."

"Might be best, don't want to end up killing whosever energy that is," Aster nodded. She figured one of those funny talking cats would know something about it, but she had yet to encounter one of them since the night of her awakening. "Might want to ask one of those cats or guardian things before you mess something up. You uh, might want to get your shoe, too."

“ Yeah, I know a couple of Eternals, I might give one of them a call. Or track down *********. Anyway, I best head off in case this thing has an expiration date or something. Nice meeting you!”
Pomona hobbled off, stopping just long enough to grab her shoe before she was on her way.
