If you have a Mitre 10, or Bunnings in your area, they may be able to fit you out with some cheap, lightweight-like Balsa wood.

I'm going as sakura-chan to Fanime con in this costume. I still have to make it...but a few trips to jo anne's fabric store and everything will be just fine.

At least you all get to go, I don't think there's an anime con of any kind near where I live. *sigh* I'll just have to wait it out.
Hmm....depending on what you go as, it can get pretty confusing. But as far as the staff, I say try balsa wood perhaps rim it with golden floral wire so it's not all painted...that might be too much work though.

There isn't and anime conventions where I am either... I need a excuse to make another costume though. Hmm, maybe I'll start working on next Halloween's costume. *pulls out sewing machine* Now I just have to decided who to be... sweatdrop

I think I'm lucky to live in the LA county. It won't take too long to get to the Anime Expo 2005.

Lol, I can totally relate to you darl, the very first convention in my area was held last year, in October, by the local uni students. The only reason I learnt of its existance was because I had a friend who belonged to the anime club there. ^^;;
To go to Animania, I had to travel to Sydney, Aust. **Grins** I live in Queensland. ^^ It was totally worth it though. It's an excellant experience.

I could probably never start one. My school only really wants clubs that will help the community in some way. Damn it all for being in suburbia!
And that is totally awesome! Going to Austrailia, I mean. I have always wanted to go there!! I could have this year, but it would have cost me $4000 that I didn't have.

My school only wants clubs that are academic, or help the community. I've been trying to think of a way to make an anime club meet that description, but only pointless reasons come to mind.

Same here. Why can't there be clubs just for fun?

I'm trying to figure out who to go as, in time for Wizard ComiCon in August. Meep, it's harder than you'd think. I'm leaning toward Tomoyo, but my brother's the seamster, and he might veto the costume as too hard. Advice?

I have an anime club at my school. We meet once a week and basically just watch anime for an hour. I guess it's fun.
