"Well, we're not looking for you thats for sure Mpeka" Ea'pavlov huffed and turned to the rest of the group.

He rolls his eyes and shakes his head, he knew his half sister was a real ditz and she would probably put a huge spanner in the works. "Homes that way" He points his gaze following his own paw.

"Hey, did anyone else see that movement?"

"I would not worry about professionalism, Veru. No one is fooled." Moto'Seide had just finished her neutral correction of the white lion, when the young juvenille was busy speaking.

Moto'seide's eyes were instantly on the horizon. "Yeah, I do." The answer of her voice was low, like a whisper and she took a step forwards, squinting to try and catch it again.

Whatever it was, it was back in the direction of the pridal center. Had someone gotten behind them?

"Everyone stick close. In case anymore rocks come loose." An extra look for Mpeko.

"It looks-" she began, only to be cut off by. . .

A loud complaint.

"This is ridiculous," Jvala snorted. "We need to find a direction and stick to it, not run willy-nilly hither and yon investigating any little thing we see. We're on a mission to find Uriah, aren't we?" She shook her head as she shot her brother, Ea, a dark look.

"Why don't we send a bird up," she suggested. Jvala was pretty proud of her idea. There was no denying the blatant smugness that gleamed in her eyes. "We send a bird up and they can tell us what they see. It'll be easier than running around like a bunch of idiots, I'll tell you that much."

She paused for effect. So dramatic. "NOW," she rasped, glancing around at the others in the group, "Who has a bird?!"

As she waited for an answer...

And Veru had an answer!

Or at least, he expected Seide had an answer and decided to diffuse that as quickly as possible. "Somewhat difficult to get a bird up in the air with the wind like this," he said with a smile. That, and he didn't particularly trust birds. Given what they'd heard about Uriah, she seemed to have friends among the desert's lesser species. A problematic recipe. "Remember, we're not tracking some sort of vicious...lioneater. Just a lioness. She doesn't even know we're coming."

The white lion sauntered forwards. "Although I think the enthusiasm is very telling!" Even professional! How nice. "Now, about that-"

He blinked his ruby eyes. It seemed during the time that this plan had been debated, the movement Seide and Ea had spotted had evolved into obvious running. Alarmed by the noisy talking of Veru and Jvala, two sets of shadows took off into the sands. Had they lost two of their group? Or had whoever they'd been tracking given them the slip?

Suddenly, the two shadows turned and...

...Shot off across the sands.

Mpeko had been about to try (Try! A start for the kindly lioness!) giving her half brother a peice of her mind while the discussions of birds erupted, and now shadows. Mpeko startled herself by erupting into a territorial growl, moving to try getting a better view.

"Hey! HEY! GET BACK HERE!"

Whatever it was, her hunting instincts finally kicked in for the first time in her life outside of hunting food and she moved after.

The world had ended, or, some merciful diety was bored, either way, the arid sands were being pounded by at least one persuer, and...

...and one small lizard.

The oddly-colored creature was lucky that it hadn't been picked off by a bird long ago, as it was an obscenely bright shade of yellow with red spots. He tore up the sands, moving as fast as his little lizard legs could carry him to catch up to what, in his very tiny mind, he saw as safety. Following the lions meant that something was less likely to divebomb him and snatch him into the air. If he could get close enough to hitch a ride, even better. Being noticed certainly wouldn't be a problem, not with his coloring.

But for all of his lizard speed, lions were big enough that he couldn't really keep up. Desperate, he stretched his legs and gave a mighty leap, trying to grab onto the end of a tail. He needed a ride! Just as he made his leap, something knocked him away and back down onto the sand.

That something was...

.. a large falcon. Large black wings cut through the air as Aiolos swooped down, practically skimming the sand with his wingtips before looping up and dropping onto the back of a large vibrantly coloured female. Kuza had joined the group when she had heard they were planning on going out to look for this strange female. For her part, Kuza was more interested in learning if there was some kind of secret water source this rogue knew about, for she had seen the red stranger and she looked a mite more healthy than some of the pride members. Instantly Kuza had become suspiscious, not of the lioness, but that she may know something the pride had missed, namely, where to find water in this drought.

Obviously she was going to tag along, after all many of these lions were trackers and water seekers... if nothing else they would need protection on this hunting expidition and Kuza was a very good warrior. Red ears pricked as she felt her familiar alight on her muscular back, his claws cushioned by her thick fur.

"Its a shame you wont do any good... the wind is too strong for flight." Glancing back out the corner of her eye, the red lioness hid her smirk with the ease of long pactice. Her dig was well aimed for instantly the large bird puffed his feathers up with an indignant squark.

"Too strong? Too strong?! This is Aiolos you are talking about! No wind is too strong for me!" With a furious flap he launched herself off her back and shot upwards into the air.

Moments later his low call sounded, for he had spotted....

Suditi. Walking through the dunes the vivid red lioness with black markings had to squint against the rising winds. With the sand irritating her eyes it was almost like she was crying. But she was far from sad. Determined the lioness had heard about the party and had decided to try her best to rush and catch up with them. But with the sand swirling as it was it had taken her a while to catch the trail.

Even so the only reason she had spotted them was for that dark massive form of a lion. Xennek The name made her grit her teeth. She had a bone to pick with him, but for now there was an audience. The thought made her smirk. Perhaps she could just happen to play things right and make him stumble around a bit.

Spotting the lioness approaching Sekayi looked over at his companion who was too busy watching the rest of the group. Still a shiver went down Xennek’s back and he couldn't help but to look around. Was someone thinking of him or somethin'?

As it was the lioness became more solemn as she approached the group, “Anything important happen yet?”

"Important?" Mwako'Damu asked coming alongside Suditi. He had spent his morning wandering the lands and looking for his mother, but found himself straying this way for some reason.

Blinking silver eyes, Mwako'Damu looked around to everyone who had gathered and opened his mouth to speak when a sharp pain connected with the back of his head.

His open mouth hit the sand and he sputtered, mouth dry, tongue hanging from his mouth,

"What the...?"

"Heck?!?" Ea'Pavlov ended the sentence as he watched the stone fly by.

Someone had thrown a stone? Who would do that? He gazed around feeling overly confused by the, well, naughty-ness of whoever could throw stones at a time like this! Weren't they supposed to be following someone?

He raises a brow taking a few steps after the rest of the group his blue eyes fixed on the spot where the shadows had vanished.

"Hey, does anyone else feel like we're being watched?"

"Considering how many people have wandered into to join us" Aedan remarked dryly "I wouldn't be surprised if we were." Not that the tracker minded all the help - quite the contrary when on a search like this the more eyes looking the better the chances...but they also seemed to be getting distracted, out of focus or otherwise getting nowhere very fast.

The desert was huge, if they wanted to have any sort of a decent chance of finding this Lioness then Aedan thought perhaps they needed to be a bit more organized. "Maybe we should establish a search pattern to follow, so we don't miss anything?" He questioned his fellows

"There's a lot to miss in the desert, even when the winds aren't whipping up a sandstorm." Another watcher emerged to see what the lions were up to.

Zo'bwa slithered out from under her rocks. So that was what all this ruckus was - a bunch of lions out tramping around in the middle of the storm and shaking the ground. A good bunch of them too - plus some birds, and was that a lizard? Why was a lizard hanging out with lions like this?

"I didn't think you all thought hunting in a sandstorm was a good idea. I know snakes have more sense then that."

She moved through the group, trying to figure out who the leader was, making a susurrus as she moved.

"What are you all hunting for, anyway?"

"It seems we are hunting nothing! Whatever those two shadows were, they gave us the slip," Veru intoned, watching as both Mpeko and the shapes vanished into the depths of the dunes. This was an easily distracted bunch! Maybe he should have been a little clearer when collecting his rag-tag group of adventurers. As if even this wasn't enough to put a damper on the lion's mood, he pulled ahead of the group and tried to get an eye for the direction they were headed.

"If we go over these rocks here, we might be able to cut them off. I doubt they're going to head north of here." He doubted it, because Uriah didn't exactly look like she was for want of water. That meant whatever source she was keeping to herself was someplace close by. She wasn't about to just abandon her little hide out.

He hoped, anyways. Maybe she was just a better survivor then he gave her credit for!

The white lion started to move, motioning for the raggity bunch to follow suit. "Well, come on! As much as I'd love to say we could stop them by sitting around and discussing, I have a feeling our time might be better spent on foot."

He started out over the rocks. It might be a steep climb, but with luck they might be able to get in front of the runners. There was one problem, however. Up on the cliff ahead...

Was a cheetah committing suicide.

Or it had appeared that way at first with the sunlight and the sand blurring everyone’s vision. But in reality it was just a huge rock which had tumbled off the edge of the cliff. Because of it other rocks tumbled down the cliff in all directions as well. And now the problem was that they had no idea which rocks were stable and which were ready to roll.

Suditi swallowed. Oh sheesh. The last thing she wanted was to roll off of a cliff and die or get injured. Either one was rather inconvenient at the moment. “Are we really going this way?”

Xennek snorted. “We’re in the middle of a chase. Do you think we are just going to turn around now because of some loose rocks?” He had a feeling about this. If those shadows had a home around here – somehow they had to be surviving this drought. Could it be that water was connected to this search as well?

Sekayi nodded, “He does have a point. As long as no one hesitates or stumbles it should be fine. We’re not weaklings after all.”

“It’s true.” The large lion looked around the group before moving towards the rocks himself. However he had to pause for a moment when he noticed….
