Kol chuckled. "Not precisely," he said. "I may talk a good game, but I'm no player. All my compliments are completely sincere." Kol made his eyes round and innocent. "What mate isn't proud of their significant other? If their mate doesn't mind the compliments then they should have no issue with them. I think I'd be bursting with pride if someone else complimented my girl, cause I snagged someone that everyone was admiring and she chose me."
Kol tilted his head. "Does that make much sense, or am I in my own little world with that?"

Fleur laughed. "At least your little world makes more sense than the one my friend lives in." Fleur nodded. "I think some foxes are proud of their significant other yes. Then you have the ones that gush over them to where it could make one sick. And then you have the ones that are just jealous of their mate and have their own low self-esteem that they have to pick a fight because someone is paying more attention to their significant other."
Why was Fleur talking about mates, players, and flirting with this guy again? Oh right, Kol had mentioned he was a flirt, and from there they had talked about different sinarios that flirting could lead to. It felt good actually. Someone intelligent to talk to.

Kol nodded. "Exactly like. So far I haven't really had to test that theory. Unless," he added, looking at Fleur, "that you yourself are mated or dating. I can't imagine that some macho, heroic figure hasn't at least tried to put some moves on you."
Kol cocked an eyebrow in a slightly questioning mannger. He was pretty sure that all this counted as prying and none of his damn business, but he couldn't help but ask. It wasn't like he was thinking of starting a fling either, he was too faithful for that. No, it was just that he was genuinely interested. From his initial impression, Fleur herself seemed like a very pleasant person to talk to.

Fleur shook her head. "None of the above. I do not usually get out and about much to meet other foxes." As for someone putting the move on Fleur, there had been Julian, but he tended to put moves on many females at once, so Fleur had no idea if he was serious about her or not.
Fleur frowned. Should she have told Kol it was none of his business about her love life? She supposed she should, she guessed. But Kol seemed a nice enough fellow. She would tell him to bug off though once she started getting uncomfortable. "What about you, if it is not too much of an imposition for me to ask. Is there not some fox out there who has fallen for you and might get jealous with your casual 'flirting'?"

Kol hesitated. "I dunno," he finally admitted. "I mean there was the one girl I was more than just casually complimenting, but she kinda just disappeared. I still see her every now and then, but she's gone so much that we never got time to figure if we even want to take our friendship one step further."
Kol shook his head. "So no, I guess I don't have anyone like that. I might be free with my compliments, but I've never been free with my heart. Just never sat well with me." Perhaps that was why Kol was still a bit uncomfortable thinking of Reisa. They might have been able to work out, it could seriously have fallen either way. At least they were friends, if nothing else. Neither had promised each anything.
Ugh, he was so off his game. He needed a bit of fun to distract himself, but... It seemed wrong to impose on Fleur, they only just met. He could always go home and try to reconnect with the family, but that thought kinda made him squirm too. Ugh, just what was he going to do?

Fleur almost pitied Kol. He sounded down when mentioning about his heart and feelings. Almost being the keyword though. Really, she shouldn't judge because Kol had not mentioned if the female had feelings for him back. But if Kol was more than casually complimenting the female, had she known his feelings for her? Or was she clueless when she left? And it could very well have been that she knew Kol's feelings and left anyways, which would have made it all that much worse.
Fleur tilted her head, closing her eyes for a moment to think what to do. The direction of the conversation was starting to get depressing. Should she try a change of topic? Simply sit here and let him come up with something? Or should she simply leave and find something to do. Let's see what the issues were with that. Changing topic: Very well could offend him with something, or drive him away anyways if he did not like females asking a lot of questions. Simply sitting: He could be bored as well, as Fleur really didn't like awkward moments. Leaving: What else was she going to do today?
Fleur opened her eyes and smiled at Kol. "Well, what does sit well with you? Or have you not found that out yet?" When all else fails...try to cheer someone up.

Kol's ears flicked back and he chuckled, blushing and pawing at the ground in embarassment. "You'll laugh. I guess I'm kinda a romantic at heart. You know all those stories, where guy meets girl and through a series of obstactles that they overcome they end up falling madly in love and living happily together."
He gave another embarassed chuckled. "I know, it's silly, right? Shouldn't be any such thing as the perfect relationship out there. But, I figure it can't hurt to look, ya know?"

Fleur smiled. "Why would I laugh? That sounds sweet. I don't see why some girl hasn't been picking you up. I thought most females fell for a guy with a romantic bone in him." Or perhaps Fleur needed to get out more. Had things changed from the stories that CeeCee told her, that the female had heard from others?
"Besides, its something to strive for isn't it? How many foxes can say they have a goal after they reach the one they had already set?" And really, it depended on ones definition of perfect. One relationship to a couple might seem perfect, but there was the saying that love was blind, so another couple or fox might see flaws.

Kol tilted his head, watching Fleur as she spoke, a small smile spreading across his face. When she finished he just kept smiling. "Sounds like you've got a bit of a romantic soul yourself. Or an optimistic one, if you think romantic sounds a bit too...."
He paused then, unable to find a word that he wanted, just shrugged to fill in the blank. It wasn't like the word was really needed though, Fleur could easily come up with one. Probably better than he could, since it was her own personality he was talking about.

Fleur laughed. "Mushy? Girlish?" Fleur supposed she had a romantic streak in her...she guessed. Did she? Julian's words had made her feel special, but that was all. She never felt love for him or them really. She liked when foxes made her feel special. And while she was okay living as a single, there were times when she wanted to have a mate, someone special to share her live and joys with.
"I suppose a little of both," she said with a small smile. "I try not to let anything bring me down. Negative energy and feelings are just so...draining. So much better to go through life looking for the positive in everything."

Kol hummed thoughtfully. "I think I'm firmly in between the spectrum of optimism and pessimism," he said after a moment. "I like trying to see the best in a lot of things, but sometimes there are moments when I think it's better to give in to the glooms. It's not bad to be positive, but I draw the line at deluding myself."
He offered Fleur a smile. "Of course that was strictly directed at myself. It would be horribly rude of me, since I just met you, to think that because you said you were always trying to find positive things equals you being delusional." He stopped, blushing just a little and chuckled quietly. "And they way I phrased that probably sounded a little rude as well. I apologize, I really do seem to be out of practice in socializing."

Delusional? No way. Not Fleur. Honestly, what good was it to think about negative things. It kept her from going insane. Fleur gave Kol a reassuring look. "It's refreshing to talk to someone like you, in an intelligent manner, and you aren't afraid to speak your mind."
Fleur went over to her armwarmers to see if they were dried yet. Not quite, but at least they weren't as bad as before. The small bit of damp wouldn't chaff too badly. Fleur took a moment to put them on before looking at Kol again. "Explain to me though, please, why being optimostic is connected with delusion."

Kol pawed lightly at the ground as he tried to organize an answer that wouldn't sound like babble. "Well it's good to see the good in things rather than the bad, but there are some people who take it further. They try so hard to see good that they shut their eyes to the possibility of bad, so that when the bad eventually hits them it hits a lot harder than it would have if they'd just acknowledged something could go wrong."
He ran a paw through his hair. "Of course those types are very rare. Most foxes aren't so determined to shut their eyes to bad to fall into delusions."

"I see your point. I bet even those...delusional foxes would have a hard time finding the good in a loved one dying." Okay, so Fleur wasn't delusional then by Kol's thinking. Fleur knew there was always bad out there, like death and heart ache. Fleur doubted even she could be the same after those two instnaces, and she was one that didn't get ruffled by anything easily.
Time for a change of topic before their current one went somewhere that would bring Fleur down. She stood up and smiled at Kol. "You hungry?"

Kol smiled, tilting his head and realizing what Fleur was doing. That being said, he swallowed his comment about how dellusional types were more likely to cause the death of a loved one by ignoring obvious dangers. It was a morbid enough thought anyway, and not one he was entirely loath to abandon.
"I could eat," he responded, "though I doubt I'll be truly hungry for awhile yet." He looked at Fleur curiously. "Are you hungry, good lady? I imagine so, swimming does take it out of you."
