Peter was in the middle of raising his part of the sandwich to his mouth when she suddenly said that she knew him. He stared at her, his mouth still open for a few moments, before he slowly lowered the sandwich and shut his mouth and eyed her warily.
"Yeah... I said my name was Peter just a few minutes ago..." he reminded her, although he tried fighting back a light blush rising to his cheeks at her compliments. He didn't think he was all that kind and generous, but she was right about him wanting to be an astronaut.
"How did you know that...?" he wondered, looking her over suspiciously. He told anyone who would listen that he wanted to be an astronaut, but people usually forgot or thought he was just making things up. Why would someone want to be an astronaut...? Even still, she didn't seem like a bad person...
He took a bite of the sandwich finally once she included all moons, thinking it was a little strange, but he had no right to talk — he was pretty strange himself.
Unfortunately, he could see the other kids getting ready to head back inside, and Peter let out a little groan as he shoved what was left of the sandwich into his mouth and chewed as fast as he could.
"I have to go..." he said with a small pout, before looking her over again. "Do you need help down from the tree?" He would hate for her to be stuck up there by herself...

The child shot almost a worried expression toward Peter when he seemed surprised that she knew he wanted to be an astronaut. He had told her! How come he was so surprised? He had told her, right? She was positive he had, but the thought that she was lingering on information he had told her as she was Ainsley was cumbersome. She took a small moment to think about it, and when she was sure he had actually told her that he wanted to be an astronaut when he grew up, she smiled.
"You just told me that!" She said with a giggle. Peter forgot so quickly!
She frowned when he said that he had to go, noticing some of the children in the distance disappearing back into the building. She wished she could go inside with him but she knew she didn't belong there. Perhaps they could meet at the library again! She really hoped so because she liked Peter a lot! He was smart and he seemed to know everything! She couldn't forget the time he seemed to know so much about all those wonderful places in the world.
"Oh," finally slipped from her lips. "Can we meet again?"
The thought of getting down from the street wasn't as simple as the thought of climbing one. It had been a miracle she'd gotten up in the first place, but getting down was quite frightening. Her eyes widened as she looked down, and then she quickly shot back so she wasn't so close to falling out. She really didn't want to fall, not without Mister Birdy to catch her like before.
She didn't want admit to it though, and she didn't want to make him tardy going back inside.
"I-I'll be okay! I don't want you to be late getting back inside. I can get down..." she paused, once again looking over the branch, "... on my own..." She was a horrible liar, but maybe he wouldn't notice.

Peter opened his mouth, and then shut it, thinking about what he'd only just said. "Oh," he said with an awkward shrug. He tended to tell everyone everything if he had the chance. His older brother would get frustrated with him for repeating stories all the time, and he's sure he'd done the same with friend before. "I was just testing you... to see if you were paying attention," he said quickly, trying to cover up his temporary lapse in short-term memory.
He turned around to be able to slide off the branch before pausing and glancing over his shoulder at Hypnos. "You have no idea how to get down, do you?" he gaped, although it wasn't really all that surprising with how many layers of frilly dress she was wearing.... super fancy pajamas or something like that. "Of course we can meet again!" he added with a roll of his eyes as he perched back onto the tree branch, trying to decide the best way to do this.
"Here, I have an idea. If you can get onto your stomach, I can hold onto your hands and lower you down. I don't know if I can catch you without hurting both of us, but I think it'll be okay. I'm stronger than I look!" Or at least he wasn't going to promise something and not to his best to follow through. If he was going to help her down, he was going to hold on as long and tightly as necessary. "I can hold on with my legs. I've done it before!"
And tardies? Pft, he wasn't afraid of tardies! He was more worried about her being able to get down safely!
(( QQ I can't believe I missed this! We can totally wrap it up, though! <33 ))

He was just testing her? Oh, she was so glad she had passed then. There was definitely a smile lingering on her face at that and it only widened when he confirmed that they could see each other again. She had made a new friend as Hypnos, and hopefully their bond as Peter and Ainsley would be able to strength because of it as well. If only getting down was as easy as making friends was. She hadn't wanted to admit it but when he suggested a way for her to get down with his help then she couldn't just turn him down.
"Such a gentleman," she smiled, taking up his offer with care. Here goes nothing... hopefully neither of them got hurt!

Wincing from the sudden weight, Peter made sure to hook his foot onto another branch, making sure that he didn't accidentally drop her as he lowered her to the ground. It wasn't as if she was all that heavy, anyway. It was just about the right kind of leverage. Once he'd lowered her as far as he could, though, he let go as gently as he could, hoping that she didn't get hurt as she dropped the last couple feet to the ground.
"Are you okay?" he asked, concerned, as he swung down from the tree, himself. It would be good if there were no broken bones or anything like that.
He made another face when he heard the teacher calling for everyone to come inside, glancing up to see where the rest of the kids had gone. "Uh, it was nice to meet you," he said with a quick nod, taking a step away once he was sure she wasn't hurt. "Don't get caught. You don't want to get in trouble!" Waiting until he was sure she was okay, Peter turned on his heel to make it back to the classroom. Had he just made a new friend? He wasn't really sure what she was, but... he wouldn't mind running into her again.
