He snorted, running after her so that he could stand in front of her. He looked at her gruffly, his eyes showing a bit of deviance. She knew what she was doing, she wasn't fooling him. With a grin, an all too knowing grin, the male stepped closer, closing the distance between them until he could put his muzzle to her ear.
He breathed in and out a few times, inhaling the scent of her before he whispered into her ear. "Why would you be going that way? I'm right here."

With an eek of surprise as Wai's broad chest was suddenly halting the little painted female from progressing any further, she nearly stumbled back onto her haunches. Meeting his eyes to find that she knew the rakish grin upon his handsome face. He'd already figured out she was teasing him, apparently he was quicker than she was. A blush heating her cheeks in response to the warmth of his voice against her ear, Lifting her forepaws to shove playfully at his chest before quickly burying herself into that thick mane. Hiding her face as Cae too enjoyed the heavenly aroma of Wai as his scent filled her nose. You knew all along! It's no fun if I can't trick you!
A giggle bubbling in her throat as she leaned up to lick the underside of Wai's cream-colored throat. Pressing lithe frame into the eave of his body shyly. Swallowing the nervousness that made her voice fragile and wispy as she finally spoke words she had been too afraid to reveal until now. Wai.. I.. I want to... I would very much like it if.. if you would choose me. The only cubs I want to bare.. are yours.

He grinned when she spoke into his mane. He knew she was nervous, and he supposed not looking at him made it easier to get out such a confession. He had to admit, it was rather cute, and he felt his heart melt a bit. He chuckled, though it was a low chuckle as to not be loud right next to her.
Taking his paw, and placing it under her chin, he lifted her eyes to his.
"I chose you long ago. I was waiting for you to notice." He said, leaning in to lick her jawline before pulling away to look at her again.

Though uncertain of whether or not the lion she adored was laughing at her or with her, somehow the heavy sound of his laughter soothed her jarred nerves. Allowing herself to meet his eyes, however reluctantly. It wasn't that Caely was surprised by the confession. Somewhere, deep inside she had always known they were meant to be. The same way she had known upon initiation that the Ela'wadiyi was the home she had always been searching for. Knowing didn't make the moment of actuality any less powerful though, almost numb beneath that tender lick.
Staring up at Wai with an expression that seemed frozen between disbelief and elation. Finally stating, rather stupidly, after the silence had dragged on for a spell. Then.. you.. you'll be my mate? And... have cubs with me?

"You mean, give our cubs some roguish good looks and charm to match? I think I can handle that." He winked, nuzzling her and pulling her to him with his paw as he hugged her. He purred, and held her there. He didn't ever want to let her go. They were one, and he was hers. She was his and it was the feeling he had known would be called love.
"I love you Caely." He finally whispered.

Relaxing to see that Wai never changed much, no matter what the situation, Caely simply rolled jade hues humorously, Well that's good.. I'm not sure where they'd get it from otherwise.
Sliding across the grass--not that there was much space between them--she was only all too happy to comply when the muscular lion folded around her. Returning his affection with a lilting, almost musical purr of her own while burying into the thicket of that abundantly plush fur. How Waikiki didn't die of heat exhaustion under an overbearing sun during the summer months often astonished Cae. Feeling her heart nearly bursting in her chest with the way it beat so hard at those words. Words she'd wanted to hear for as long as she could remember only made all the more poignant by the fact that he had used her name. Cooing breathlessly, I.. I love you too.
