Tari smiled and accepted the glass, she popped a strawberry in her mouth as she listened to the other talk. Yeah that was sort of what she wanted to know. After all Halloween Town had many different parts to it, All creatures needed a place they could survive. But she did wonder about the human world in which her parents regularly visited.

"I'm from the desert area east of town. My family is Egpytian in heritage," looks down at her collar and jewelry and giggled, "as if that wasn't obvious."

Nefertari was definately into her heritage. A golden ankh graced her head in the form of a head band. An egyptian collar with skull adornments was around her neck and bracelets and anklets decorated her arms and legs. Her top and cover skirt were made of white linen, even if her pants were just capri jeans.

The sphinx's room was decorated almost like a guilded tomb but with windows to let in the warm sunlight. In fact she had arranged her bed to catch the first rays of sunlight each day!

Taryn nodded. It was pretty obvious that Tari came from the desert at least, considering the other ghoul's clothing. She gratefully accepted a cup of tea and sipped it, afraid it may be terrible in which case she'd have to drink it anyway to be polite.

Thankfully, it wasn't.

"This is very good," she smiled, and then pointed to the... bu...bubosa...barbassa...the cakes, "May I?" While that was being sorted out, she spoke again.

"I need to learn more about the human world. What's Egypt like?" Aside from desert-y, of course.

"Ah thank you! It is a recipe my mother taught me!" she smiled happily that the other ghoul enjoyed the tea. It was a bit of home this far away from her family. The other ghoul seemed to be more relaxed now that they were actually talking about each other.

"Help yourself, it is my favorite desert," she motioned to the cakes.

"Well I've never been there myself," she sipped her tea as she discussed the land her parents frequented, "but my mother and father have told me all sorts of stories. Mostly about the great pyramids and tombs my family has guarded. The battles we have fought. And of course the Rite of the Riddle!"

Her eyes glowed a bit at the mention of the adulthood passage she would one day go through. She was already working on her riddle, the one that would impress the elders of her clans and allow her to fully transform into the full bodied Sphinx.

Taryn nodded. This was not the first girl she had heard of that made her own tea! Imagine that. Was it something of a common pastime at Amityville? It certainly had always seemed a bit obscure. She listened to the stories Nefertari had to tell, nodding politely as she listened. Although she wasn't certain just what the Rite of the Riddle was, she imagined it had something to do with sphinx maturity rites. As far as she knew, chimera didn't have anything like that.

As she took up a little piece of the oddly-named cake and popped it into her mouth, her eyes went wide. Of course, of course!

"Revani! My mother makes this!" she chirped, surprised and pleased. Oh, how it reminded her of the good times... "We don't call it bas... bas-boos-ah but this is definitely it. Mmh." She stole another little piece and popped it in her mouth with a bit of strawberry. Oh, glory be, this ghoul was awesome.

Tari couldn't help but giggle as the girl started eating the cakes. At least they really did have something in common other than being combo animals. She would have to ask her mother to send occational scare packages. She ate a few more strawberries, wishing for a bit of cream to go with them. Well maybe that was just the cat in her.

"Well my dear I'll ask mother to send more. Just tell me if you like certain things in it and I'm sure she can make it. Maybe we can have a weekly Cake Night. We can compare homework and eat cakes," she nodded. She liked the idea, it would help her be more social and ensure her homework was always right. The girl was a total nerd and Tari wasn't sure what kind of subjects they would have here. It would help to have someone who could help out.

Taryn wasn't completely certain that she'd have time once a week for a mini study-group, even if there was cake involved. Revani might get tedious as well. That didn't mean that the ghouls couldn't meet to help one another, though, right? The chimera smiled politely and nodded.

"Speaking of cake, do you know of any skullinary clubs in Amityville?" she asked, remembering Roch and their promise to one another. She had still yet to do any real research, for shame. She impolitely licked her fingers clean of syrup and folded her hands in her lap. She had to make sure she didn't hog this ghoul's treats...

The cat continued munching on their sweets when the ghoul asked about clubs. She shook her head, her long hair flowing around her head like the Nile's dark silty waters.

"Sadly no, I've been more intersted in Bruteball and starting a Roughby team here at the school. Not much of a baker, more of a fighter," she grinned as her fangs glistened. Yeah she had already signed up for the Bruteball team tryouts. If she got in it would make meeting the other ghoul hard what with practice, games, and other such team things. But she's at least try to have sweets and tea with her every now and then. It was hard to meet someone with similar tastes in food.

"Me and my cousin Cady are both trying out for the team. She's a manticore," she popped a bit of the sweet cake into her mouth.

Huh! From the way the ghoul dressed, Taryn would never have imagined she was athletic. Things often came in strange packages though, c'est la vie.

"That's nice," she nodded, thoughtfully sucking the last of sweet syrup from her lips, "Well, I think I'd better get going. Thanks for dinner!" If this counted as a proper dinner. "I'm in room 214, if you ever want to drop by!" Of course, the likelihood of seeing this ghoul again were pretty good. Already she'd seen a handful of people multiple times from classes alone.

She waited until the ghoul seemed to be finished with the fruit before taking the bowl and giving a polite little half-bow. "It was nice meeting you!"

"Alright, it was nice meeting you!" she stood as well, collecting her dish. She smiled at the other, having enjoyed her company. Tari was glad to have made a friend finally. It would be rather lonely without a pride of friends. She told the girl her own room number.

"And you are free to stop by my room as well," she nodded and began to head back to her own room. The golden colored room looked a little brighter to her now that she had a new friend. She put the dish back in the small fridge she kept in her dorm and began to write a letter home describing her first day.
