And so the brick went flying, surprisingly (for Hesperis, that is) baseball-style. zipping through the air and crashing on the youma's good shoulder. Well, once good shoulder was perhaps more accurate.
Ow.
But more importantly. "Dude was that awesome !" Purple eyes wide and very impressed indeed. That was one hell of a aim right there.
The youma was still hissing and still trying to get to her, in spite of having lost use of both it's front legs. They... really were mindless monsters bent on one thing. But at least it made them easier to kill. She wasn't sure if she could have killed an actual animal.
Now, through, her staff was brought down hard on the thing's skull, in a way that could have been called a mercy kill if it hadn't been a monster, and up it went in dust.

Valhalla blinked in surprise at the compliment, his left hand reaching up to massage his right shoulder. "Thanks. Figured doing this is going to ruin my arm anyway..." Might as well use what he had while he had it, right? By the time he was out of college and was ready to be scouted, who knew how torn up his arm was going to be. Which was probably why it was best that he was actually going to college for a reason more than baseball.
He watched, impressed, as the youma was dusted, glad that one was over with. He turned to the page to make sure she was okay, looking her over with a small frown.
"Isn't it past your bed time?" Jeez, she couldn't have been out of high school. She? He? He still wasn't sure and he didn't want to ask because... talk about embarrassing for both of them! "But are you okay? Let me see your arm..." he asked, holding out his hand for her to show him, his other hand waving at the air, trying to get what was left of the dust to settle and disappear.
"Where'd you learn to hit like that?" he wondered offhandedly, not bothering to hide that he was impressed with her attack. Damn, he didn't want to end up on the wrong end of that staff.

"It's summer." She pouted. Seriously ? Seriously ?! Ngh. If he continued to treat her like a kid, she was going to start treating him like an old man.
Because, seriously. ...Unless she was taking him for a boy, then it was probably surprising if he even thought she was in high school at all. Should she try to clarify ?
...Would be embarrassing for the both of them, through. Maybe not in public. Even if there was no one around.
She did give her arm over, through - seemed like she wouldn't escape it.
Where'd she learn to hit like that ? ...Hmmm. She certainly didn't want to say the truth on that. "Do a lot of sports at school." She nodded. That wasn't even a lie, either. "Im a mean hitter... You're a mean pitcher, I assume ?" She asked, a grin on her face.

"Oh, right..." he mumbled when she reminded him what time of the year it was. He'd done that to his brother too, without thinking about it. Right... Summer break. One would think he'd remember since he was on break, too. Not that being a knight, or whatever he was, was really a break or anything like that but... whatever...
Valhalla took her arm to look at, using the pieces of fabric that had been torn from her jacket to wipe away some of the blood and get a better look.
"I don't think you'll need stitches... And they're surprisingly clean cut for a tear. Ugly must have had pretty sharp claws. It would probably be good for all of us to get tested for any diseases that might get transfered in the fighting, though. At least once every couple months, at least," he said, mostly to himself. They were all fighting, all getting cuts and scratches, all putting themselves in danger of accidentally transferring something they might not even know they had, if they did have anything. Unless the magical transformation negated any reason to worry, but until they found a doctor who was on their side, he wasn't going to trust it.
He did nod when she commented about his pitching, glancing up at her as he tried to clean some more of the cuts with what he had (which was her jacket, primarily, since he had no sleeves). "Baseball scholarship for my fastball," he told her, not feeling there was any reason to hide it since they were on the same team. "Although that brick was about the speed of my change-up..." He could have kicked it up at least ten more mph if he had seams to grip and cleats on his feet... and wasn't standing on asphalt.

Hesperis didn't seem too worried about the state her uniform was slowly turning into - no matter what she did, it was pristine and whole again the next time she powered up, much like her weapon. So she let him fuss to his heart's content.
Hell, he seemed more fussy than Camelot, even ! Through she had to admit that, on some level... The attention was nice. And the fact that someone was caring about her well-being, if only because she had what might have been the most usable weapon of their group so far.
"Wow ! Yeah, im definitively nowhere good enough for a scholarship." She seemed even more impressed. "I'd love to play you sometime ! Hopefully with no nasties around, through..."
Unless it was a chiuwawa-sized youma and they got to use it at the ball. Which would be hilarious.

Valhalla nodded, forcing himself to gently lower her arm once he was sure she didn't need immediate medical attention. "Sure, I'd be happy to play you. And you never know, with the way you swing you might!" He certainly hadn't expected getting any sports related scholarship from going to a school with less focus on sports than academia, but he'd been surprised.
He took a few steps back from her, glancing around as he did so. "Give me a call once you get to safety, before you power down. I'll stay like this until you get somewhere with a first aid kit, okay?" he said, nodding to the belt around her arm. "Just in case..." He didn't want to power down before her and make the makeshift tourniquet disappear. Even if the blood flow wasn't heavy now, he wanted to be safe and give it a little extra time.
"You did well. Thanks," he said with a smile, taking a few more steps back to get into the shadows. He'd be there if she needed him, but it was always best not to linger in clusters for too long. He didn't want to attract something bigger.

Wouldn't that be nice ? Or, at least, it would make things much easier... Even through she was nowhere near thinking about post-high school education, she often found herself thinking about it. About her future.
She needed to think about these things, after all. If only if she didn't end up like her so-called mother.
"I will." She nodded, and took off as well. It was about 15 minutes later when she contacted him as asked, and powered down.
