kryl looked around the area, though she could not see the fox she could smell it. And it was still here. In fact it was a female, the same female she had happened to meet as a kit. It was the only logical solution. Why else would the fur have seemed so familiar, and the scent being given off. it was something she had smelt recently. It was simply too bad she didn't know the name of the fox otherwise she could call out and tell her all was well.
"I can smell you vixen. I might not look it, but I am the same kit you met all those months back. You have to know I mean you no harm." The phim continued looking around. "Won't you please come out?"

Gen paused. The same kit she'd met before? It was highly likely, but....
Gen strained to recall the brief conversation she and the kid had had, matching words and style of speaking. No good trying to match the voice, a kit voice was practically genderless and similar to other kit voices.
Weighing her options, Gen tried to look around the settings using only her eyes. This place was big enough that might, might, get away with a single brief sentence. Just to confirm her thoughts. She could be condemning herself with this, since obviously the female couldn't pinpoint her location and a sound might give her away. On top of that the female sounded weary, so she would probably give in and leave before Gen. But...
"Got any berries," she called out, rapidly and trying to project so that it would be harder to pin-point. If this was the same kit, hopefully she'd pick up the subtle hint Gen was trying to give her and would respond with the right answer.

The blue phim chuckled. Even though she couldn't pin down the direction the voice had come from, it was still nice to know it was the same female she had met before.
"I don't have any blueberries on me right now...But I can take you back to the same bush if you like. Though you would have to come out of your hiding place for me to do that." Kryl laughed as she jumped off the rock and sat leisurely on the ground, her tail whipping back and forth behind her.
"I didn't think you were going to pass through this land again...you seemed to be so leery of it last time. You mentioned something about solitude....and something about your brother....I don't remember everything you said, but I was smaller at the time."

There was a light clattering of rocks as Gen shook her body, the small pebbles falling to the ground and dust flying in the air. She'd have to bathe to get her coat back to it's usual blood-ruby color, but that wasn't of much concern to her at the moment.
"Hmph, fly me there? You look like you could barely fly yourself, let alone me." She stepped out of her hiding spot, not having to look far to find the Phim. For one thing she'd been able to get a general read of the voice to tell what area it was in, and for the other, once you knew the general area, Phims were pretty big. And even Gen blended better with the environment that this female, with her bright blue fur white wings. In the interest of fairness though she'd probably have an easier time hiding in the snowly landscape than this rocky one.
Gen shook herself once more now that she was in the open, then sat down and watching the fox that looked a lot like the kit she'd seen months ago, but also different. Kits all looked the same, but in maturity Phims were built different than normals in more than just size and their wings.
"If I'm not mistaken that bush is almost on the other side of the valley," Gen continued, trying to play casual. "Long way to fly." She looked out over the stretch of land in front of them, a spectacular view afforded by height. "Anyway, even if this valley isn't huge the mountain range that protects it is. None of it's easy to climb, so I figured I'd take a route I knew I could at least find a spot to recover in for a couple days. Even with the danger of discovery."
A tiny smile played around Gen's lips and she tilted her head slightly, waiting for the kit, no, adult, to make her move.

Kryl looked at the red vixen, "You are rather odd." She looked at her closely, "I suppose we could walk, though I am fairly certain that I could fly at least half way there with you on my back. I could fly the whole way but with the extra weight it would be more difficult and I would hate to go plummeting toward the earth and end up killing both of us." The blue and white phim shook out her wings, then folded them securely on her back as she sat down.
"To your other point I admit that I see the logic, but there is a safer and faster way down the mountain that I could show you. It is the worst part of the winter out there and there tends to be numerous land slides this time of years. The path you came across last time might be blocked now. I would hate for you to freeze to death out there alone."

Gen stared at the female Phim. In her own solitary world it wasn't often that she went out of her way for strangers. She did on occasion, but generally her methods couldn't be considered the kindest ones. It was a little better than her brother though, Kairon was even more of a loner than she was.
Finally Gen spoke. "Never did tell you my name. I'm Gen. I never use my full name, so Gen is as good as my actual name anyway." The wind at the stop of the mountain peak had been pushing Gen's long hair in her face as the two spoke. She shook her it back with a flip of her head, then went back to watching the Phim.
"I think I'd appreciate being shown an open pass. As long as I get to the other side where I come out doesn't matter. I've got a pretty good sense of direction."

"If it is your wish then I will gladly take you through the open pass." The light colored phim smiled at the introduction, "Well I am Krylaris....or Kryl if you prefer. My name can be a little long for most people." The phim moved toward the smaller female.
"Well I can show you the way whenever you prefer to leave. Though I would suggest taking some food with us, or at least eating your full right now. There is not much selection on the road we are going to take. I would simply fly you, but the distance is too great and then you would not be able to learn the way yourself."

Gen tilted her head, curiously. "Don't we have to cross the valley first," she asked uncertainly. "It seems like it would take more time to skirt the mountain range to reach the other side. It took me two days of walking with only occasional stops for rest to make the journey the first time."
She was sure Krylaris, Kyrl, knew the valley better and knew which way to go. Perhaps this warm valley experience seasons of it's own and the food available was too far in the center of the valley to make it safe to reach. Gen had to admit, she hadn't thought of that.

"You are correct in assuming that it would be faster, but if you are wishing to avoid the tribe then it is also more risky." Krylaris pointed with her paw, "Past those trees, and along those rivers is the path to Starborn....and my home. While you are correct in assessing that it is the quickest route, it will also lead you straight into the heart of Shambala and my tribes people." The phim looked down at the older fox.
"I was under the impression that you wished to avoid the crowded temple where my people rest. The way would be much milder temperature, and fruits sprout bountiful all year long there, so there would be plenty of food. However ultimately the decision is yours to make Gen."

Gen tossed back her hair again and laughed. "Don't get prophetic on me, youngster," she said, amused. "I don't know you well enough to allow you to tell me things I already know about myself." Stepping forward she did notice the temple properly. She'd been so tired the first time she crested the mountains to notice, too much in a hurry to leave the second time. And now this was her third time here, in as near the same spot she could manage as when she left but perhaps closer to the temple. It probably would be necessary to travel along the mountain a little ways to get further from it before crossing the valley.
Gen sighed and looked up at Kryl. "Very well then. I concede to your knowledge of the land as superior since you have lived here your whole life. Lead as you will." Gen reflected a bit in the irony of following another winged being again, if for just a short amount of time. She thought that when she left her brother to go out on her own she that would be the end of following. 'Well,' she thought wryly, 'I suppose there's always exceptions.'

The young phim smiled, "I was not intending that...but it does have a nice ring it it. Kryl the Prophet. I think I quite enjoy the title." She laughed to herself as she turned and started to walk. She didn't understand why the vixen wanted to avoid her tribesman, which was the only thing she could deduce from the fact that Gensis wanted to stay clear of the temple, but she was going to honor her request. Knowing the amount of foxes down there Kryl did not blame the fox. Though she knew everyone quite well she did know what it was like to be surrounded by people and it could be overwhelming.
"So tell me....why did you venture this far...Not many foxes would have even found Shambala and surely would have perished in the snow. Did you have a reason for coming this far?"

Gen turned a golden eye up towards the Phim. "Interesting ring, but I doubt the profession would be a pleasant one. Knowing the future, even glimpses, would be a horrible burden." It certainly wasn't one Gen would want. The most she could boast of was insight into the personalities of others, and even that wasn't something she examined often.
Kryl's question brought her, briefly, out of her speculations. "Ah, well if you mean this trip currently, it's to get back to the other side of the mountain. My first trip, when I met you as a kit, was just simple exploration." Gen shrugged. "Foolhardy of me, I know, but from the bottom of the mountains I had no idea truly how high they were, or how much of the journey would be made in the cold and snow. By the time I realized how much danger I'd stumbled into, it was too late to go back. I had to keep moving forward. Perhaps if I had indeed known the dangers to begin with, I wouldn't have attempted the climb."
