Sunshine Peach-Heart I hate it how Christian churches, especially Catholic ones, are getting a bad rep. Not every old, straight Catholic thinks homosexuality or bisexuality are sin. In fact, once we did an exercise at a conformation retreat in groups. Each group listed things they would change if we were the Pope. I wanted to say "acceptance toward different sexualities", but I thought people would look at me funny and think that was a ridiculous thing to ask, so I stuck with something more broad, "acceptance towards differences". Then, when we were done with the exercise, I was surprised to learn the man running the retreat supported gay relationships, because this guy was a SERIOUSLY devouted Catholic, as am I, but I thought it was just a rarity that I supported gay marriage and gay relationships and stuff, but then I realized I'm not the only devoted Catholic who thinks that way. I think Christianity should drop this whole "homosexuality is sin" act. Jesus said that EVERYONE is welcome to the church and in the arms of God, and officials should stick to that. i completely agree with you. also im christian (more specifically catholic razz )

"Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind."
Another thing to think about with this verse is that at the time, women where no better then slaves. What i think this is saying, is to not treat another man like he's beneath you, but as you equal.

My girlfriend was worried that she could never have a relationship with god because she is gay (I'm a transman.) so she set up an appointment with the pastor of a nearby Christian Church. She then began to explain to him that she is a lesbian and he immediately told her that she is a "Child of Satan", "perversion" and should seek counseling to be loved by God because she's a sinner. I don't believe that all churches believe this and it all depends on what the believe and what they "pick and choose" out of the Bible.
In the same place that it says, "Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with woman kind." and something about it being an abomination, it also says that "a man shaving his hair is an abomination", "you may not have relations with a woman during her period", "you can sell your daughter into slavery", etc etc. I just find it interesting that some people decide to listen to only parts of this, ignoring the shaving part, the slavery and the sex during menstruation but will bash homosexuality.
that's my two cents. smile

i LOVE God, dont get me wrong. He's the greatest! There's no one better than him, but that bible verse is just wrong. I thought I was gay by choice, but in actuality I was born gay, I just never truly realized it until middle school. God is gonna love us no matter what and even if we're gay, we're not going to Hell just because of it.

Ignorant person. I don't even bother with them, this kinda stuff would've hurt me a while back. not anymore, it's my opinion against his/her. I would love to see where the ******** in the bible says "HOMOSEXUALITY IS A SIN"
The bible can interpreted in so many ways. "a man shall not lie with another man as he lies with a woman" are we talking lies? like lying ? or laying in bed? idk,. I don't even bother with the bible, first it tells to love, then to hate and kill, then to create peace and love...i think I'll just follow my love for god on my own.
