"Kay kay. Orchard where all the food it is."
She sprawled on the branch, yawning slightly as her limbs cracked. When he mentioned never playing games she shrugged. "Neither did I, really. Not into that kind of stuff." She stopped through, did Bane not have any silbings? At all? Aoi was from a huge, huge family. It didn't help that her mother adopted a son that had a huge family now. Though, this was because he married into that huge family. Confusing? Yes. Let's just say she has many uncles and aunts, and they had many children, and their children were mating into big families.
She decided not to ask though, seeing as it was rude, and instead peered at him from where she was. "So you've spent your entire kit-hood standing guard." She commented. Boring. "Alright, what do you want to do other than stand guard?"

Bane looked up at the tree, mildly ruffled. "I do not st-," he started, then, seeing a potential cause for splitting hairs, changed his words, "I do not like the term "standing guard". It brings to mind muscled idiots who do nothing but what they are ordered. I prefer to think of myself as a guardian." Cause you could be a guardian of something without being an actual Guardian, of course.
"What I want to do is irrelivant," Bane continued, looking back at the land. "What I need to do is make sure that the rest of the trees on this island are thriving. This apple orchard is only one part of the land I cover." He didn't go into detail about what looking after the trees entailed, since he was pretty sure Aoi would find it boring.
Which was well and good for her, she probably traveled a lot. But Bane stayed in one place, and beings hunting on the mainland there were also animals that go tossed up on his island that found the place to their liking. He would never come out an admit it, but he was actually fond of some of the creatures. It would be a shame to let them starve because of a bad crop, if he could have prevented it somehow.

Hmmm. So, she couldn't move him. She watched the male, wondering how bored he must be sometimes. Well, fine. She was bored herself, why not try and get along?
"Alright." She yawned briefly. "Well, since I'm already here and obviously intruded, how about I make it up?" Her dark eyes glanced down from her branch at him. "I'll help you patrol until my friend gets here? I'm sure with two people it'd be easier, and I have nothing to benefit from destroying your trees."

Bane raised an eyebrow up at Aoi. He'd expected a more bratty, selfish response, not the one she'd given him. Trying to stall for a little more time so that he didn't give an abrupt answer, he asked, "You mean by yourself, with with me?"
He almost winced at how....stupid the question sounded. Like he was too simple to grasp the most basic of things.

She blinked at his response, wondering why it was such a shock that she had offered. She almost resorted to sarcasm, though held her tongue, instead clicking it in agreement. "Yup, with little ol' glowing me." She yawned, playfully patting her stomach.
"Besides, I need some exercise, anyway. Freya's been beating me in sports lately." She joked, a rare thing, though it was also rare for her to be civil to a male that had demanded things from her earlier. Meh. Aoi was in a some what pleasing mood today. Some what.

Bane frowned slightly. "I could hardly be called exercise, we're only walking." Maybe it would be exercise to the little female, he certainly had no notion how many miles she covered in a day. Not that his island was that huge, but he wasn't walking a straight line. They would be criss-crossing all over the land, seemingly moving at random but really following a special pattern he'd developed over time, over rises and dips in the land and even the occasional rocky spot that would be harder for someone with shorter legs than he to easily maneuver.
He was quite used to it all, but he bet by the end of it Aoi would be willing to drop.
Of course Bane had to keep reminding himself he really ought not to care about this little female, that with enough cold-shouldering she'd take herself off the island and avoid it and it's occupant for the rest of her natural life.
Well, it was nice to hope. Since he hadn't succeeded in sending her off already she probably wasn't likely to budge once he was gone, and if fact would either follow him or just wander around the rest of his island unhindered. He held back an unhappy sigh. No, better to have her under his eye than let her go haring off somewhere.
"Very well then," Bane said, trying to keep his tone neutral, turning and indicating she should follow by simply walking off, albeit slowly so she could catch up. He had to wade through a field of rainbow bubbles to do so. Apparently the more stressed he was, the more those things appeared.

Aoi blinked when he moved through a field of bubbles, swatting at one absently. "Kay." She chirped back. So, today would be spent following the male about and observing. Hell, what kind of trouble did a lonely island get into that caused for so much patrol?
Either way, she had offered and was a woman of her word. Runaiu had taught her well. She would stay and help Bane until she either died or he himself dismissed her, and she'd possibly keep helping.
So with this notion, she followed behind him, pawing at a bubble here and there. Hell, she wanted bubbles....they were amusing!

Bane looked back over his shoulder, trying to look grumpy and put upon. The tiniest twitch at the corner of his mouth betrayed his amusement, though. He couldn't help but be amused. Even if she wasn't leaping at them, it was clear Aoi was taking much enjoyment from his odd little quirk.
"Amusing you, am I," he asked, raising an eyebrow and casting a quick glance ahead to make sure he didn't run into anything. He didn't think he would since he knew the island quite well, but it would have been hubris to say he had the thing memorized so well as to wander around with his eyes closed. After all, things could change in the landscape. It was one of the reasons he kept himself up-to-date on his home.

She caught his lip twitch, looking away. Ah damn, he had caught her being a kit. She looked back up though, because really what was the point of hiding it? "Just a little." She mused back, pawing at another bubble, almost tripping in the process. "It's not everyday I see something like this. Can you make them change colors? Or make more come out? Or change their size?" She asked, head tilting. She was the kind of vixen that was indifferent to situations that she knew about or knew the escape, but when she was faced with something she knew nothing about, well... She became fairly interested.

The corner of Bane's mouth twitched, though he couldn't have said whether it was in annoyance or amusement. Perhaps a bit of both. He naturally was a loner and found the pressure to be civilized an annoyance.
On the other side though he hadn't realized that he might actually have been....lonely. Certainly now that the initial shock of finding Aoi on his island had worn off he was actually almost enjoying the presence of another.
And while answering questions might not have been his forte, he could empathize with her curiousity.
"I'll answer you questions," he hedged, "if you answer mine. Your glow, where'd that come from? Is it something you can completely control, or only to a certain extent? Does it come from your fur, or something else? Like maybe your life energy, or something."

Her eyebrows twitched briefly, giving him a rather annoyed expression. "Again with the questions, I asked first." Still, she complied after cracking her neck.
"My glow comes from my mother, my white mother. I can control to the extent that I can make it grow or shrink, but it never leaves my body. It's not from my fur, I remember once I burnt some fur off my leg and it didn't seem to have a gaping hole there. It comes for my skin I believe." She blinked, laughing.
"Life energy? That's new! I don't know, honestly. None of us do. We just know white mother had it, so most of us did, too." She shook her head. Her blue mother didn't have a glow, so, it explained why Lavi and another sister didn't glow. "Now, bout those bubbles...."

Bane sighed in the same fashion Aoi did. Well she did answer his questions and even did it in a civilized fashion, so he supposed he was just being difficult now. That was fine with him, difficult was what Bane did best.
"They come out multi-colored, as to why, I have only a theory and nothing more. I cannot make them a single color. I can increase or decrease how much I put out, much like my flames. I have never tried to alter their size, it was never something I paid much attention to."
Bane raised an eyebrow at Aoi as if to ask if she were satisfied with the answers.

Ah, to curious for her own good. She eyed the male, then his bubbles, slapping at one with a paw. This was becoming a question game, wasn't it? She made sure to lift her paw over a log, almost tripping over it. Her eyes flicked to the ocean, wondering when Freya would return.
Though she didn't mind waiting. She had met a rather interesting man due to her waiting.

Bane turned his head and actually smiled at Aoi. Granted it was a very impish smile, promising plently of mischief, but it was quite genuine with no real malice behind it.
"I'll tell you my theory....if you can give me a theory of your own first," he said, still smiling. As much as he knew this was probably irritating Aoi, he found it interesting. Not only was she too busy wracking her brain for an answer to give him trouble, he also got to learn how her mind worked.
And she might come up with a totally new, surprising answer, though in this case Bane was sure he'd picked over the vast majority of theories.

Glaring at the male, she merely flicked her tail and sighed low. Fine. She didn't have a theory, really. She was a curious vixen but when you spend your entire life just accepting you have a glow and no one knows why, well, it became a fact. Bane was the one to say he had a theory.
"I suspect," She looked seriously at him, holding his eyes. "That your mother must have eaten the bubbles that come in cans by the humans. You were birthed after, having absorbed the bubbles, and your sweat is the liquid that helps the bubbles form." Her eyes narrowed, this is what he got for making her abide by his rules to get her own results.
With this she leapt over a log, flicked her tail, and glanced back. "Now, your theory?"
