Chomo followed behind Nuri, as always less graceful than she, a mane didn't contribute to ease of movement. He watched her movements concernedly, still coming to terms with the concept that, were her words true, and he didn't doubt a female's intuition, she was carrying life or lives that embodied both of them.

"I suspect there might be others out there. It's a matter of finding them, I'd think."

He was glad of the shade the cliffs brought from the searing sun, it had been a while since he had been settled in the desert and he was only now getting into a temperature balance again.

The only sign of hearing him was the short nod of her head and the soft exhale of her breath. It was slowly appearing that they were nearing the cliffs, the rocky structures breaking away in their view to reveal the dens of their forefathers. In essence, it was a sight to behold as they moved closer, a true landmark in the sands.

They finally arrived soon after, the silence a confertable one at least in Nuri's opinion. She settled down on her haunches and took a deep breath, turning her gaze onto her companion and letting off a soft breath, "These dens were our homes many moons ago...and now we return..." She looked back to the caves, and softly mused an additional, "I am glad at least one thing has yet to change in our world...our home..."

Chomo looked upon the cliffs, with their network of dens in awe. When he had last stood here, in this place, it was as a youngster, a cub. In those days they had seemed unfathomly huge, a looming dragon asleep on the sands. But now he stood, a different lion, fully grown, with a potential family on the horizon, and he realised that they no longer intimidated him, no, it was like coming home after a long journey.

He stood and looked upon them for a few moments longer, lost in the memory of that time, before returning his gaze to Nuri and following into the caves, his tail brushing the stone floor. "Thank Finar that the rocks are more unchangeable than the lions who inhabit them."

He gave a wry smile, aware that in many ways, he had changed too since leaving this place. Would it have been different if he had stayed? He would never know.

"Though they are smaller than I remember" he grinned "Maybe it's just me who has gotten bigger."

She glanced silently towards Chomo, keeping her lips sealed as he just gazed up to what would be their new found home. All they needed to do now was find a place to stay, with enough room for themselves, Denahi, and their soon to be cubs. Of course, that would be harder than first discovered, for other lions would arrive to the dens soon. She would have to find one far enough that they would have privacy, yet close enough to be a part of the pride.

"Do you know of where your family was before the sickness?" She asked, for she knew that no one would enter the dens of the past, it was something of a curse so-to-speak. Though it was possible another lion might have stolen the cave of their parents, it was less than likly with thoes who were gone for so long. Maybe they would get lucky.

Chomo nodded, some things time didn't erode, he could remember the way to the old den as if he had walked it only yesterday for the last time.

"I remember, only too well."

He knew that the sickness would no longer lurk there, swept off by the years that had passed. But the memories would always stay, and he hoped in some small way, the spirits of those who had gone before would protect the fledgeling family.

"We were not royalty, merely but hunters, the den is large but small enough to be cosy." Chomo didn't like vast dens anyway, they often got chilly. "And no drafts keep you awake at night."

He grinned at Nuri, almost seeking her approval before cautiously leading the way through the caves, noting the scents that seemed to hang on the air, at least the place was still alive.

She let him finish the explination and nodded in a slight approval. Moving to follow, she spoke softly, seeing no need to raise her voice as they traveled together.

"We will need a place for Denahi as well, to keep a watchful eye on him during his stay...with him as well as the cubs soon to come, a fairly large den will be nessary. But we do not need too much space..." She had a feeling that they would not be getting as many cubs as others did. For her side was all but throbbing with each step, rigth where the slight weight was becoming apparent.

"Once we arrive," She started up, "I will need to take a rest...I hope you don't mind..." It was very soft, as if she was ashamed of admiting the pain that was starting. But for once, she was doing it.

Glacing up soon after, she caught sight of a cave nearby, and wondered if it was Chomo's old den. Him revealing such a personal place touched her deeply, and she glanced to him after the thought, wondering just why he was taking her there.

"Denahi could stay in my uncle's old den. He was a bachelor and never really wanted any more than the little den he had, it was just down the corridor from the den my family lived in." If Denahi stayed there, he would have his privacy but would also be visible in his comings and goings from the den site.

Chomo wound around a bend in the tunnel and stepped into his memories. The corridor hadn't changed a bit, left just as it was that night his mother had led him out while all the pride bemoaned their losses. It was overwhelming at first and he froze for but a second, his breath caught in his throat by the lump that seemed to appear there, but it was not sad thoughts that stayed him, only happy ones, and as soon as they came, he let them go.

Those happy memories were gone, he was sure they could forge their own.

He went on with the topic at hand, unabashed

"Of course! After a journey like that, you could sleep for a year and I wouldn't grudge you a moment. I'm quite tired myself, I could rest up here with you, or, if you'd prefer, I could take my lazy behind out onto the sands and procure us some food."

He swished his tail "Either way, none will bother us all the way back here, I'd think."

Nuri just kept herself silent as Chomo walked ahead, stopping in her steps and taking deep breaths. She settled on her haunches and kept her gaze on his back, the shadows covered his form, and yet she still got the feeling that he was having a moment as he faced the memories of times long past. She too would have to take a moment as she moved to look at her old den.

When he started to speak once more, she moved to walk into the shadows as well, easily taking in the dark look as her eyes ajusted in an instant.

"Hmm..." She started slowly, brushing past him with a ghost of a smile, "...If you are in need of a meal, feel free, but I would rather we just rest after our travels." It was as light inviation and she hoped he would join her. She padded to what looked to be an old resting place of a family, and settled down slowly to get the weight off of her form.

"I was hoping you'd say that, my paws are killing me, the idea of a hunt isn't much appealing right now." he grinned. It wasn't that he was lazy, he was just glad to have come to the end of a long walk for now and he had a chance to rest his weary paws. It was only a short while ago that he had sat awake in the graveyard wondering where his life had been going, things now looked so much better.

With a contented rumble, he settled down near Nuri, for the first time in years actually feeling like he was home.

Nuri let her lidded eyes fall onto the entrance of the cave, the skies darkening and letting a light cool set upon the lands. Ears perking at his satisfaction and his settling, she too let her head fall to her paws.

"Soon Chomo, this den will be filled with our cubs...and they will be true Firekins from birth...thanks to you. Without you I would have never made it back..." Smile growing, it flickered brightly for a moment before falling into a soft yawn. Now, it was time to rest and get some of her lost energy back.

Chomo had already placed his head contentedly on his large forepaws and closed his eyes as he heard Nuri's words, he grinned broadly and replied "Not all thanks to me, far from it, I would still be fretting away in the graveyard if you hadn't planted the seeds of change in my head."

Catching the contagious yawn, he too couldn't help but add his own broad yawn to the quiet, then, in a voice much softer than usual, he added "And for that, I thank you."

The rest was very much the land of dreams for him.
