The rising sun's warmth felt great on Mira's skin, and its orange rays sparkled in her pale mane, creating a dazzling canvas of colors. That's why she always loved the dawn. "Mmmhm." She caught herself nodding again and quickly added, "Yeah, it's beautiful. And I don't mind."
Mira looked around at the quickly brightening landscape and picked a direction. She remembered that the King's castle is to the south and east. Since Seru wanted to go see the him, Mira figured that she might as well as head that way. Carefully, she turned so that she faced the sun. "Ready to go?"

"Mmm...Thank you," Seru smiled gently, and then walked beside Mira quietly. "I think you and I will have fun wandering around, don't you? And it'll be even better when Nyx chooses to join us...as long as we avoid the not-so-friendly things that go bump in the night..." she chuckled gently. She paused a moment, as if remembering something. She frowning slightly. "I hope Nyx doesn't run into one of them...She's not terribly strong, physically..."

"I think she'll be fine," Mira said in a comforting tone. "From your stories, Nyx sounds like a pretty independent mare, and from my personal experience, those types are good at taking care of herself." Though she said these words with confidence, the Azrein actually had no clue what she would do if she happened upon one of the Six. She could run since she's really good at it. However, some part of her was certain that she could talk or use some clever scheme to assure her safety. But you're not traveling alone anymore... Mira thought as she craned her neck to look at the human with her hand on her shoulder. From the tales she heard, the Six would be less than merciful if they saw Seru in her company. I can't exactly leave her behind, so run it is.
While deep in thought about her plan of action for something that may or may not happen, Mira nearly stumbled over a small hole that was the home of some kind of burrowing animal. She managed to catch herself before she sprained anything, but it was still startling nonetheless. "There's a little hole here. Be careful," she said while silently admonishing herself for not paying attention to where she was going. "So...how did you and Nyx meet each other?"

"Yeah, I'm sure it'll be ok," Seru smiled, and went silent for a little bit, carefully stepping over the hole the mare mentioned, and cast her mind back. "I think it was around four or five years ago...I was wandering around out in the woods, and tripped over her, actually. She was wrapped up tight in a baby blanket, and couldn't move much. I helped her get loose, and carried her back to my home, where I was living, and kept her healthy and happy, until she got old enough to walk and explore. She chose me after we ran into a few...unsavory brutes, and I got her out of trouble."

Mira couldn't help but giggle when Seru said that she nearly tripped over Nyx when they first met, considering that that's how she herself happened upon the human. Who would've thought that tripping is a way of meeting people, she thought while listening to Seru's story. "It certainly sounds like you two are very close together, " the mare remarked with a bit of awe in her voice. "What's it like to be a Chosen?" It just occurred to the Azrein that she might be asking too many questions, and some of them might be a tad personal. She blushed and sheepishly added, "I hope you don't mind me asking all these questions. You don't have to answer them if you don't want to. I'd understand."

"Eh...Well, clearly, she prefers to be alone rather than with me. Or maybe she's just impatient..." Seru grinned broadly, and then patted her gently. She smirked, and then shrugged. "It's...well, it's interesting, you know. We can talk together without words, and...Well, it's fun..." She closed her eyes, smiling. "Knowing that you're never going to be alone, no matter what, is...oddly comforting. And, even when we're apart, it's like she's walking beside me. Always."

"I wonder what it'd be like to feel that..." Mira whispered softly, trying to imagine the feeling of never being alone. She never gave much thought about traveling by herself. So far, she didn't miss the company of others, but she wasn't sure how long that would last. Maybe she would be just fine by herself; maybe not and she would be pining for a companion.

"It's wonderful...I hope, someday, you find that perfect human for yourself, and when you do, you're good enough to acknowledge it and protect that person as best you can..." Seru grinned, stroking the mare's shoulder gently, and snuggling in for a moment. "How far have we gone? Feels like a mile or so..."

Mira smiled happily from the encouraging comment and pats. She thought, If I get this more often, maybe I won't mind having a permanent companion.
Having been preoccupied with introspective thoughts most of the journey thus far, the Azrein lost track of the time and the distance. Her steps slowed as she tried to calculated how far they've gone. "I haven't been paying much attention, but...um..." She stalled for a bit while her brain worked. "Yeah, it's been about a mile or so." As Mira turned her head slightly to look at Seru, it occurred to her that she might need to adjust her pace a bit for her companion. She didn't know anything about human endurance. "I haven't been walking too fast, have I? Do you need to rest?"

"No, my dear...I'm used to walking alongside Nyx all the time. She only lets me ride on her back if I twist an ankle or break something important to walking..." Seru chuckled, and then reached into her pack, pulling out an orange, and peeling it quietly. She walked in silence a little longer before asking, "Want another apple? Do you think we'll see anybody else soon? I hope so..."

"Mm'kay, just let me know if you need a break." Mira sniffed the air as Seru peeled that strange round thing. It seemed to be a fruit of some kind, based on how it was structured with the tough outer cover protecting the soft flesh inside. "What's that? I haven't seen that before," she asked as she stopped walking to get a better look at it. So intrigued was she with the exotic thing that she didn't noticed that Seru asked her about apples. "Can you eat that?"

"This orange? Yeah, you can eat it...Would you like to try a slice?" Seru asked as she gently took the orange apart along its section lines. She paused a moment, and offered up a small portion of it to Mira.

Mira gently took the slice of orange from Seru's hand and slowly chewed it. The fruit was really juicy, and its flesh was softer than an apple's. More sour too. "Huh...it's not too bad," she said after swallowing the small morsel. "Still prefer apples, though."
The Azrein took this opportunity to inspect their surroundings. Miles upon miles of grass in varying heights stretched across the plains as far as the eye can see. When the wind raced over the blades, a green wave rolled across the plains with only small shrubs and a brown lump interrupting its path. What is that thing? Mira squinted at the distance where the tall green blades gave way to a brown object. "Hey Seru. I think I see something up ahead," she said, craning her neck to get a better look. "I can't see it very well from over here."

"Well, shall we go check it out? I can't see it at all, so, really, it's up to you if you want to check it out or not..." Seru grins, and then perks up her ears. "Do you hear something?" she asks, and faintly, Mira can hear the sound of hoofbeats from behind them. Indeed, Nyx is coming over quietly, a slow trot and a slight smile on her face.

Mira was about to ask Seru what she heard when her ears caught the sound of hooves beating on the grass. "I hear an Azrein!" She turned to Seru and asked, "Is that Nyx?" This was turning out to be a very exciting day for Mira. It was her first time meeting a human, and she would also be meeting a bonded Azrein! She looked to the direction from which the hoofbeats came and tried to find the one making the mare.
