Catching his breath, Chaonis grinned at her. She wasn't the kind of gal to attack while a guy was struggling. He had been wide open for an attack and she hadn't taken the chance, because she wanted things to be fair.
This was just sparring, but that was no real excuse not to at least take some risks and learn new moves. Sticking with the normal, the safe, they were never going to get anywhere.
"Alright, alright," he said, seeing her expression. He clenched his fists and lifted them, bracing himself. "Time to be a bit more serious, huh? Let's see what we can do, for real."
He charged at her, pulling his fist back and then feinting a swing for her face. Near the last moment, he brought his other fist forward, low, aiming for her side. Kidney shots could be the most painful, and a quick way to drop someone, and if he played his cards right he could get her to turn and try to block his first punch while aiming for the lower side of her back with the other. If not, he still hoped to punch her in the gut.
Always good, too.

Sometimes Maia blocked, but more often than not she simple moved, she had pretty quick reflexes from dancing so at the fist aiming for her face she dropped down and was going to attempt knocking him off his feet again, but instead she had to jump back at the second fist which came a bit to fast.
The result was a fist hard to her shoulder and landing flat on her back with a nice loud smack and a rather annoyed groan. She doubted Chaonis would hesitate as she did, so despite her pain, she rolled to avoid any on coming, well anything and jump up.
She didn't really know what to do next, but she couldn't stand still, so she jumped at Chaonis fist raised.

Chaonis was impressed by her moves, but it shouldn't have been so much so. They were both strong and they both had more experience under their belts then should probably be admitted. Well, Chaonis didn't mind owning up to every fight he had ever been in.
He looked down at her as she fell, and he did as she anticipated. He followed her fall with an attack, his fist slamming into the floor with enough force that it sent pain shooting through his arm.
Yeeoch.
With a shudder he pulled his arm backwards, and looked at her quickly enough as she lunged at him. He was still reeling from punching the floor, so she had a clear shot at him and he knew it.
"Hold on!" He yelled, in an effort to distract her. Cheap tactic, but that's how the Negaverse fought, right? If it worked, he would tackle her again in the hopes of pinning her to the floor.

Maia was too close to punching Chaonis probably right in the face not that she really wanted to, but he called out hold it and she did stop looking extremely confused.
"Hold it," she sputtered, "what do you mean Hold It?" She said looking at him as if he had grown a second head. She'd just gotten serious about the fight, but he shouted hold it.
She wondered if maybe she'd done something wrong afterall the fight was a training session.

"Just wanted to do this!"
Chaonis leaped at his chance, swinging his fist and aiming for her gut, rather than her face. He wasn't going to throw a cheap distraction tactic and then hit a girl in the face, after all. He wasn't that bad. No, the stomach was much better, wasn't it? In his mind, he was being noble.
The less than charming senshi of Danger pulled back, cracking his knuckles. His hand still hurt from hitting the ground and he had hurt it more by hitting her. He was of the mind that the sparring was done.
"Alright, alright, that's enough," he said, waving his hands and grunting indignantly. "You're pretty good with a fight, but I think you let yourself get a little distracted there. Too easy. Doesn't matter who you're fighting, or what happens around you: can't go soft in the middle of a fight."
Yes, he had done that to teach her a lesson, and not because he really hadn't wanted to be punched and was playing cheap to get out of it. Nope.

Maia groaned at being punched her hand going to her middle. She was slightly doubled over and giving Chaonis an 'I hate you' look, but when the pain left and it was obvious that the training was over she stood and straightened her clothing.
"Thanks," she said before she made a frown face. "I know, but its not the same as fighting a negaverser that I know want to kill me. I'm fighting Eternal Sailor Chaonis whose is good a lending a helping hand. I get it though, no getting distracted, every second counts right."
She smiled, "next time I'm going to win. You know that right?"
She grinned and stretched, "well enough of that, we should both be patrolling, knocking out youma and make sure new and older senshi alike don't off themselves."

"You got that right," he said, nodding his head. Yes, that was the lesson he had been teaching, and she was a good student to get it so quickly. Clearly, though, it had more to do with him being a good teacher then her being experienced and smart enough to figure that out on her own.
What with the being Eternal as well, thing.
Chaonis looked a little more serious when she mentioned keeping the others alive.
"They have to keep themselves alive, as well. It's not our place to do the Nega's job for them: if we don't take care of ourselves, then what's the point of trying to fight enemies? That's why all those newbies and defense senshi need to know how to fight. And if I have to teach them, then ********. I guess I'll do it."
He sighed, like he had been told to take out the garbage or do the dishes.

Maia rolled her eyes and then crossed her arms and gave her friend a long hard stare. "I wish people would stop saying that. I know they have to help themselves, but we need to stick together. Our teams and courts are great really they are, but their not helping senshi as a whole to band together. I mean we use to have all meetings, when was the last one huh? Before Elysion or around that time. I'm not really sure."
She shook her head, now wasn't the time for an argument. She and Chaonis did agree on one thing. They needed training. "Don't count me out on the training. I'm in. You help train me and I'll help train them. Like a circle," she said with a grin.
"No sighing," she said grabbing his wrist, "now come on you. The night is young."

Chaonis shrugged his shoulder. He had never gone to a senshi meeting, and he couldn't say he was particularly interested in going to one now. A whole bunch of jerks like him in one place? That and a bunch of newbies or people who were angry/annoyed with him.
Sounded fun. Except not really.
He nodded his head slowly and at least seemed to agree to the idea of helping her train other senshi. He was a jerk and seemed self absorbed at all times, but he was also aware of those around him. Just because he didn't want to meet with his fellow senshi, or be their friends, didn't mean he didn't want to help them.
And if he and Maia could get some training out to as many as they could, then at least they'd be accomplishing something.
"Alright, alright," he grunted. Though, if he had a chance to slip away and head home without patrolling, he certainly would take it. Not because he was tired or didn't want a real fight, but because he felt obligated to escape and give her a hard time now that Maia had told him he needed to patrol.
It was just who he was.
