Niflhel had seen the Javlin come up a little too late, he moved to dodge but it did catch his arm. Oh sweet mother of molasses that hurt, he felt some of his skin as it was being ripped off his arm.
He tried not to wince as he deflected holding his arm he'd have to deal with tending to it later. His mind flickered to zirconia and possibly seeing if she'd help with it, but later now wasn't the time to think about that.
He grin and bared it. "Its still a stick no matter what you call it." The squire was stubborn too, he was obviously looking to get his a** beat. He was determined to at least get the better of her, pulling his chain from his belt he whipped it back towards her. Aiming not for her arms but for her feet. "Lets see how you like this."

A hit! A palpable hit.
Painite grinned broadly at him when she saw his blood, though he covered it with his hand quickly enough. She wasn't really crazy about blood, per se. She liked the pain that came with it, though. She knew he was hurting, and that with pain came fear. Doubt. That niggling idea that maybe this was a bad idea. That maybe something terrible was going to happen.
Fear. Now that was what Painite liked to see in her opponents.
This guy wasn't giving her much to work with, though. She watched him with borderline patience, the kind she forced when she had to. She really just wanted to stab him in the face and yank his starseed out, but she knew better than to lose her cool and charge him without a clear shot.
"A stick that will still kill you, then," Painite said with a grunt. Insulting her weapon when all he had was string? Okay, a chain, but still. Painite tried not to look as insulted as she felt. No need to give him the satisfaction. "Oi!" she yelled as the chain whipped at her, wrapping around her ankle.

Niflhel might have to retreat a wounded beast but he was going to give her a taste of her own medicine before he did. The squire grinned when the chain actually caught her ankle and he yanked as hard as he could trying to pull her off balance and to the ground.
He wasn't going to be scared that easily, he was concentrating on the chain wrapped around his ankle so he could be sure that he wasn't going to screw this up by loosing the nega too soon. Unless she decided to teleport, which was what he was watching for. He knew if she teleported he was going to have to run as fast as he could.
He could then find help for his bloody wound. He grinned, "I fear no evil." He said with a grin.

"You bloody well will," Painite grunted.
She pushed herself up, though, and moved to free herself of his chain. The crystal she kept with her to communicate with other negaverse agents began to tremble, though, and she stopped. Someone was calling her, and she didn't have time to play any more.
Growling, she offering the squire a grin.
"I'll have to get your starseed some other time, little boy," she said, then she teleported away to answer the call, leaving the knight behind her, and feeling fairly bitter about having to abandon the battle, as she was certain she could have won. Of course, even when she lost she was certain she could have won, so there wasn't much in that.

Niflhel shook his head. No, he didn't think he would, not at least like that. When she threatened him, "Good luck others have tried and failed on that front!" He said right before she disappeared.
"Ugh" He clung to his arm where it had been opened and was bleeding pretty bad. Dismissing his weapon he moved to a safer place so he could power down and get something on his arm until he could find help.
"Man that was close..." He muttered as he slumped down to the ground so he could catch his breath. He needed to get going and he was hoping maybe he would conveniently run into Zirconia or someone that wasn't Polaris he didn't need to hear about how reckless he was.
