Felix "Dart" Anderson
The Omegas: Garage, And we're off. -must resist urge to use a wizard of oz joke-

User Image
Felix nodded in a slightly knowing way as Raine jokingly agreed with him on his thoughts of paying for dinner. "I know. I'll be gentle don't worry." He didn't realize that he was inadvertently causing her to feel similar irritation as he felt because of her refusal to share her power. Were he to be aware Felix would probably have just delivered something similar to 'it doesn't feel good does it' while smiling. It would have certainly been amusing and satisfying. She laughed at his question about Cissa and he turned towards her. The look she gave him said more than enough but he still waited expectantly for a verbal explanation which came soon after. The Omega leader actually didn't sound that bad when Raine described her as he could certainly deal with cruel. Though obviously Raine disliked her because she was an Alpha and apparently the blond had something against them. The bitterness present in her voice said that in volumes. Perhaps she had her fair share of bad experiences with the blond in question.

Smiling briefly Felix shrugged. "Let's just say I am more than happy to not be on either team. It makes slacking off soo much easier after all. And slacking off is my bread and butter as some people say. Which I never really understood. Isn't bread and butter usually someone's bread and butter?" After posing the question they parted ways to go get ready. She laughed at his use of the same line of being late and he nodded. "Aren't you supposed to say 'that will teach me'? I thought that was the set response for this joke?" At his question of where they were going she pulled a set of keys from her purse twirling them around one finger. It was expected they would be driving but he couldn't help but feel a little disappointed. Why couldn't they do something fun like fly? Then again landing a jet in the parking lot of a resteraunt would not go over well. She spoke of just getting in and seeing where they were going with a wink. She moved to the driver side and leaned against the edge as she posed her next question.

"Why do I get the feeling you want to piggyback it? I have of course done so before when taking someone out however I always find something bad happens. Their hair gets messed up terribly and it ruins the entire night. So I will save you from that fate and allow us to drive. Tonight at least." Walking to the driver side door Felix opened it up and leaned on the edge like she was. "I don't like cars by the way so you get to drive. Normally I would but since this isn't a date I'll give you the pleasure." Well he drove sometimes at least. It all really depended on his mood and right now it was screaming 'hell no I am not driving'. Not to mention she might not like driving around ten miles under the speed limit. It was easy to get in crashes while driving if not careful. It's why he preferred running as a means to get around. "You look nice by the way." Giving the compliment as if it was second nature he proceeded to get into the passenger's side of the car putting his seatbelt on as he did.

While it may have appeared he was just joking or didn't mean it he was being sincere with the compliment. "Bring a motorcycle helmet next time and I'll give you a piggyback ride." The look on his face not betraying whether he was being serious or not. It probably seemed rather confident perhaps borderline arrogance to expect a next time already after all.

"Mmm, well, I could have said that, but it just seemed so…expected. I can be impulsive too, you know," she said with a sideways glance, attempting an air of mystery about her. Of course, she was sure that it didn't come off as aloof, but more so teasing - either way, she'd take it for the time being. It was at least something not entirely stupid to say. As she moved over to the car, leaning against the door before asking if he wanted to take a less traditional means of transportation on their little outing, she pretended to pout slightly when he refused her, though his reasoning was not only amusing, but sound as well. Still, he didn't entirely take it off the table for future "non-dates", and that at least brought a smile to her face.

"Ooooooh, alright party-pooper. Next time, I'll put my hair back in one of those ponytail/braid things that biker chicks wear. I think I could rock that, don't you think?" Her smile one again betrayed her sarcasm, laughing softly to herself as he approached the car and proceeded to get in. He mentioned something that sounded like a compliment, Raine pausing slightly at the passing tone of such words. Her expression was both amused and slightly confused looking, as if she wasn't sure whether she should take him seriously or not. Either way, she knew it had to be somewhat sincere - she certainly didn't look bad. It took a very special kind of talent to not look good in jeans and a black tank top - it was a universal fashion statement.

"Complimenting the appearance…that sure sounds like date talk on our non-date to me, no matter what kind of tone you use," she said with a sly sideways glance. Placing the keys in the ignition and bringing the engine to life, the brunette fastened her seatbelt and checked all the mirrors before glancing over at him to make sure that he was wearing his seatbelt as well. Seeing as he was, she smiled, putting the car in drive and pulling out of the garage, choking back a laugh when he mentioned that next time he would give her a piggyback ride if she brought a helmet along.

"Hey, if I can rock a biker braid, I can sure as heck rock a purple helmet. I must say, you're concern about my hair is quite touching," she said without glancing at him as she merged onto the main road, assuming at this point that he was being a bit sarcastic with his statement. It seemed to fit his personality - she would never know if he was being serious or not. At least it was stimulating conversation for the time being - how long her amusement would last would depend on how long he was determined to keep her in the dark.

Once they were safely on the road, heading towards "town", it was a relatively short drive to the little spot she had in mind. They parked in front of a strip of stores, the brunette turning the car off and twisting around to grab her purse out of the back seat.

"Come on, I'm starving," she said with an excited undertone, getting out of the car and walking around to the sidewalk as she waiting for him to do the same. Once he was out of the car, she pressed the lock button on the remote twice to hear the confirmation beep (a bit quirky, she knew), before turning to him with a smile.

"I hope you like asian food," she said simply, staring to walk down the sidewalk backwards and motioning for him to follow her. They ended up in front of a little shop with curtained windows, Raine opening the door and motioning for him to go in ahead of her. It was more more modern on the inside than one might have thought from the outside, a couple college-aged guys lingering behind the counter. One of them smiled at her as she entered behind Felix, the firefly giving him a little wave as she turned her hazel gaze on her non-date.

"It's asian fusion food, so it's all really good. The crab ran goons? to die for."

The Omegas: Garage, Asian food?

"You impulsive? If you say so. Somehow I seriously doubt you get very impulsive though." Returning her sideways glance with one of his own it was certainly amusing to hear her say that. Probably because he didn't really believe she could get very impulsive. It was easy to do little impulsive things. She did an admirable job of pretending to pout as he refused her request. She smiled as he left the option open for the future and Felix shrugged. "If you're good of course. It is a privilege not a right after all." He took a mock tone that an adult might use to explain something to a teenager or child before smiling a little. She called him a party pooper which only elicited a shrug before she went on to say that next time she would put her hair back in a way similar to a biker chick. She finished by saying she thought she could rock it and asked his opinion. Taking a good look at her with a quizzical expression Felix turned straight ahead before shaking his head no.

"Sorry, but I don't think it would go well with you. Then again, I have yet to see you with one so there is a slim chance I could be proven wrong. Very slim though." Of course he had caught the sarcasm especially as she laughed softly, but he still answered her truthfully. Her slight confusion at his compliment was noted. She called out his compliment as date talk and he gave her a 'oh really' look before facing forward a smiling tugging at the corners of his mouth. "Not really I would have commented on the appearance no matter what. Even if it were just a tutoring session. I commented on what you were wearing earlier after all didn't I?" Felix looked at her curiously to see her response. The engine roaring to life making him face straight ahead again. Why did it have to be a car? He was tempted to go retrieve Raine a biker helmet just to get out of this death trap that was known as transportation to people that didn't move as fast as he did. His right hand gripped the handle on the door firmly as he took a deep breath.

Her comment about the biker helmet elicited a little laugh from him. Then she went on to say his concern for her hair was touching causing him to shrug in response. "Hey if I am expected to look at you then I prefer it to be while your hair is fixed. Not where it looks like you just got out of bed and haven't combed it. Not to mention like I said messed up hair has ruined my night way too many times. As for the purple helmet I withhold judgement until I see said helmet." As they got on the road he gripped the handle tighter until they arrived which by that time his knuckles were white. She mentioned coming on because she was starving and he nodded. Letting go of the handle the moment they stopped he unbuckled his seat belt and got out as if nothing was wrong. Inside however he was sighing in relief. Thankfully he didn't get carsick. Smoothing out the wrinkles on his clothes he listened for the confirmation beep to let them know the car was locked.

His left eyebrow raised as Felix looked at where they had stopped. Raine mentioned what kind of food it was by saying she hoped he liked asian food. "I haven't really ate it much before so your guess is as good as mine." She walked backwards motioning for to follow and after releasing a small sigh began following behind her. As they went towards the entrance Raine opened the door for him to enter and Felix gave her an amused expression. "Well there goes my points for being a gentleman." Walking inside he didn't acknowledge the guys behind the counter though they did to Raine. Obviously she came here somewhat often. Or maybe she just had a memorable face. Hands in the pockets of his jacket he looked around the place with mild interest as Raine looked at him and spoke again. "Crab ran goons? That sounds like the title of a bad horror flick. If you say so however I guess I can try it. Not like I have had it before anyway." Shrugging after he finished speaking he figured he would let her lead the way just in case she had a usual spot or something to that nature.

"You know, some guys find the morning bedhead look sexy. Just sayin'," she said with a glance, her tone suggesting that she was entirely just kidding with him. Her hairs was nearly always fixed, barring some monumental disaster in the middle of the night that required immediate attention. Though, she could understand where he was coming from when he said that the problem of his powers messing up a girl's hair had been an issue in the past. Hopefully that was the only issue - not the fact that he was a mutant in itself. Dating for teenagers was hard enough as it is - throw some awesome powers into the mix and it was often a recipe for disaster. At least he seemed comfortable enough in his own skin not to let something like that bother him. Raine had always been a bit self-conscious - not only about her looks, but her powers as well. She was just trained to hide it all behind a mask of confidence, and there were few people that could pull it off as well as she did.

She was pretty shocked when he said he wasn't sure if he liked asian food - they lived outside New York. Wasn't greasy chinese and thai food a part of their diet? Maybe he just hadn't been around long enough to develop the same addiction that seemed to plague the majority of the city. Even though Raine tried to be healthy when it came to get food (she abhorred working out like some of the others), even she was not immune to the charm of greasy kung pao chicken and a side of potstickers.

His glance towards her as she opened the door for him made her laugh slightly, following him into the restaurant.

"You can make it up to me later," she said with a chuckle, never really understanding the whole door-opening thing. She was perfectly capable of opening doors for herself and other people, and yet men always seemed to have a chip on their shoulder about being able to show their chivalry in such a simple manner. Maybe that's why most of them were so adamant about it - it was the easiest way for them to get their point across without having to put more effort into it. Shaking those thoughts from her mind, she turned her attention to the menu at hand, her expression changing to one of slight shock when he appeared to not know what a crab ran goon was.

"This is just…unacceptable. You're killin' me smalls." A soft sigh escaped her, the brunette ushering the pair up towards the counter. The guy waiting to take their order gave her a smile, her hazel eyes focused on the menu for a moment before she glanced towards Felix. Hopefully he would find something to wet his appetite, otherwise she was going to feel like a real jerk if there was nothing on the menu that looked good to him. I mean, it had a little bit of everything - dishes for the adventurous, and the classic fried rice for those that liked to keep it inside the box. Raine pretty much ordered the same things very time - why mess with perfection?

"Well, I'll take the udon noodles with chicken, extra soy sauce, and a side of crab ran goons. Just water to drink, thanks. What about you Felix? See anything that looks good? It's kind of hard to go wrong here?" Rummaging through her purse to pull out her wallet, she glanced at her companion with a soft laugh as she waited for him to make his selection.

"Correction some guys find the morning bedhead look sexy when it's the morning after. I am not typically one of those guys." Felix responded back to her in a matter of fact way. The reason for thinking that sexy tended to be what happened the night before. At least in his experience. Either way he didn't usually find the look sexy. Of course there were exceptions to every rule. Unlike Raine he had never let him being a mutant stop him from dating or hiding the fact that he was a mutant. He was comfortable enough to be open about it. Why should he have to hide who he was just because a potential date doesn't like it? Not to mention most girls their age were fascinated enough by going fast that they were willing to let it go for a chance to get him to give them a high speed piggyback ride. Even if they didn't like what it did to their hair. Then came her shocked expression as he admitted he didn't really know if he liked asian food. A shrug his reply to her expression.

Was there some kind of secret asian food eating club that he was unaware of? There did seem to be quite a few of the students at the academy who liked it. Maybe there was some kind of secret club? Oh well unless this food was downright delicious he wouldn't worry about it too much. His comment about being a gentleman getting laugh out of her as well as a chuckle after she mentioned letting him make it up to her. "Oh I am in suspense to see what you have in mind." Personally he didn't put much thought into being a gentleman. He usually waited to see how specific girls seemed to prefer it. If they wanted a gentleman he gave them a gentleman. If they wanted to do it themself he let them do it themself unless asked otherwise. It was just one of the many reasons he was successful whenever he tried at dating. Being handsome helped a lot as well. Letting his eyes sweep over the menu his gaze remained neutral. Considering his focus on the menu he missed the look he received after his comment on crab ran goons.

Hearing her speak Felix gave her a sideways quizzical glance. "Smalls? Really?" Walking up to the counter with Raine Felix focused on the guy smiling at Raine in slight curiosity. It seemed to him that the guy liked Raine but he wasn't the type to play jealous so he simply let his gaze travel around while he waited for Raine to order. She began ordering and then what he wanted mentioning it hard to go wrong here. His eyes didn't stop traveling as he shrugged. "Just give me something with rice I don't really care what. And a side of this crab ran goons dish that brownie here seems so keen on." Rice was something familiar and therefore he figured he would go with rice. "As for the drink get me something clear. Sprite or 7up or water or something like that." Hearing Raine rummage around in her purse to pay before she had time to get her wallet out Felix already had money in hand and holding it up for the guy behind the counter to take. After he felt the money leave his hand he leaned in to Raine and with a sideways glance and smile spoke up quietly. "Now we are even."

"If you say you've never seen the Sandlot, I might have to just deck you right here and now," she said in a succinct, manner-of-fact way. She might be a "nerd" as many affectionately referred to her, but she at least knew basic cultural references when they were important. And to her, the Sandlot was no joking matter - it made her laugh every single time. They proceeded to order their mean, Raine chuckling to herself at his rather generic order, though her smile seemed to widen into one of incredulity when he referred to her as "brownie." She'd been called a lot of things in her time, but that was certainly not one of them.

By the time she managed to fish her wallet out of her purse, he was already paying, her lips pursing at his sideways glance and smug comment. Of course, she couldn't hold the look for long, putting her wallet away once more as she grabbed two cups for them, melting into another smile.

"Fine, we're even. Though, I have to say that with the compliments and now paying for the food, this is starting to seem suspicious. Just know that I'm onto your game, Sir," she said with a slightly raised eyebrow, offering him one of the cups in her hand so he could get what he wanted from the fountain machine. Turning her back on him slowly, she made her way over to the drinks, pouring herself a glass of water and grabbing a lemon wedge from the container to the side before she turned to spot out a table. It was late enough in the evening that they pretty much had their pick, the brunette making her way over to one in the corner and setting her things down in the booth before scooting in. She waited patiently for him to get his drink and find the table she'd picked out, taking a sip of her water as he sat down as well.

"Alright, I have to admit that this is a lot better than studying," she said with a chuckle, absentmindedly running her finger around the rim of her glass as she tossed her hair over her shoulder. They'd already established that she was the brainy one that would forego the appeal of teenagerish fun in exchange for stellar grades and a hopeful full ride at the university of her choice. Still, she had to admit that she was glad he talked her into ditching the tutoring session and coming out instead. Of course, the words "you were right" wouldn't leave her mouth, at least not for the time being. She couldn't give him that satisfaction on their first day knowing each other. After all, she did have a certain reputation to uphold, be it right or wrong.

A few minutes later, the same guy that took their order brought out their crab rangoons, her hazel eyes lighting up slightly when her plat was set in front of her.

"Ok, so, it's basically a fried wanton stuffed with a cream cheese, chive and crab mixture. I know it wounds weird, but try it," she said with a smile, picking one up from her own plate and taking a bite. As she chewed, she looked at him expectantly, waiting for him to either tell her that she was right, and it was the best thing he'd ever eaten (ok, that might be a bit of a stretch), or to look at her like she was crazy and tell her that she ate some weird weird stuff. Either way, she was in culinary heaven - everything tasted better when she wasn't in a rush to scarf it down and get back to her dorm to work on her paper.

Felix gave Raine an 'oh really' look as she mentioned decking him if he said that he hadn't seen Sandlot. "It's funny you mention it as no I have not seen it. I didn't do a lot of movie watching when I was a kid. So forgive me for not having seen it. Besides you aren't fast enough to hit me if I didn't want you to." He Gave her a smug smile at his last statement. She seemed to have been slightly caught off guard by his calling her brownie and he made it appear as if he took no notice of her disbelief. Silently however he tucked it away for use at a later date. Perhaps it would become his new nickname for Raine. It wasn't long before she was smiling again after he paid and was handing him a cup to get his own drink. Taking it he gave it a quizzical look as she spoke. A shrug was the only response she was going to get out of him anytime soon considering the subject matter. Holding up his cup to her and pointing to hit he cleared his throat. "So I am really expected to get this myself? Pity the evening started so well."

Not moving from his spot as she left to retrieve her drink he watched her for a moment before looking back down at his drink and walking towards the fountain machine. By the time he arrived she was already finished and sitting down. Taking his time to get his drink which had been settled on 7up. Taking a quick drink of the liquid he settled into the booth opposite Raine and set his drink down. She finally admitted it was better than studying and Felix smiled in a very knowing way. "Naturally. You will find I am right at least ninety percent of the time." Looking over his shoulder for a minute he continued. "I might just make a slacker out of you yet. Unlikely but we will see." Rested his clean shaven face on his left hand he gave her a somewhat amused smile. Sitting the rest of the time while they waited for their food without saying a word the food arrived a few minutes later. Staring down at his food for the moment he made no movement to actually eat it just yet.

As the brunette explained what a crab rangoon was Felix leveled his eyes on her. "You had me at cream cheese and lost me somewhere along the way. Still I guess it wouldn't hurt to try..." Trailing off he reached down and picked one up bringing it up towards his mouth. As she ate her own Raine seemed to be staring at him expectantly. Letting out a sigh he took a bite and set it back down while he chewed. Letting the flavor of it settle in he gave her a shrug not finding the dish particularly remarkable but not hating it either. "It's okay." Looking at her he suddenly got a look as if he noticed something on her face. "You got something right there." Pointing to the spot on his own face Felix watched. There wasn't anything there of course so therefore the smile wouldn't present itself until she checked. In the meantime he took a drink from his drink innocently. It was nice to lighten up a little sometimes.

His mentioning that he hadn't seen the Sandlot brought a pained look to her face, one which quickly melted into mock pity as he said he didn't watch a lot of movies when he was a kid. Placing a sympathetic hand on his shoulder and giving it a little pat, she laughed at his smug smile for the latter part of his statement. They always thought they could run.

"Ahh, but that's assuming you can avoid me forever. And let's just face it, I can be kind of magnetic. Plus, I have a feeling you don't want to re-take bio next year, so you'll come back around eventually." She gave him a playful wink as she handed him his drink cup, noting his silence in response to her quip about this seeming suspiciously like a date. Silence was not really an answer, but it was certainly suggestive - she'd drop the subject for the moment though. The worst thing was to think someone was more than it actually was, only to look like a fool later. Raine hated to look like the fool - her track record with men seemed to speak for itself. She rolled her eyes at him as he whined a bit about having to get his own drink, the brunette brushing past him with her own cup in hand as she went to get a table.

"Hey, I save the fancy places, where they serve you drinks and bread before dinner, for serious dates," she said with a sideways glance in passing. It wasn't long before he was seated across from her, setting his drink down as she admitted that he was right about getting out of the library for a bit.

"And how do you cope with the remaining ten percent of the time? At any rate, I highly doubt 'slacker' is something that'll make it's way into my self-description, but it is fun to take the night off once in awhile," she said with a chuckle. The moments they sat in silence between her words and the arrival of their food seemed to last an eternity. She was having a good time, but they were definitely not at that point yet in their friendship, or really acquaintanceship at this point, where they could sit in silence and be perfectly comfortable. She passed the time by taking a sip of her drink once in awhile, smiling at him where appropriate, until their food arrived at the table, her hazel eyes seeming to light up slightly as she thanked the bearer of their side dishes.

"Oh, just try it," she said with a grin as he responded with some uncertainty to her explanation of what exactly went into a crab rangoon. It didn't take her much longer to start into her own place, looking at him as she chewed to try and gauge his reaction to her choice in dinner. He didn't seem to be as enthralled with it as she was, but at least he didn't seem to be hating it either. If that was as good as it was going to get, she'd take it. Next time, if there was a next time, she'd let him pick a place.

The brunette was so tied up in her thoughts that she jumped a bit when he said there was something on her face, pointing towards his own so she could gauge where it was. Setting the food in her hand down on the place once more, she muttered a soft apology out of habit, bringing her napkin up from her lap to brush across her cheek where he motioned. She didn't feel anything, but she took another swipe with the napkin, just to be sure. Of course, it all seemed to click just then, her eyes narrowing slightly, though she smile clashed with the glare she tried to shoot at him.

"Oh, you're an a**," she said with a chuckle, taking a sip of her own drink as she popped the remains of a crab rangoon into her mouth. Once she was finished chewing, she took another drink to wash it down with, looking at him across the table with a slightly smug grin.

"Now, don't forget that you still don't know what I can do. Maybe I'm not the right girl to be messing with." An eyebrow raised as she spoke, adding to an air of mystery she tried to cultivate. Eventually, he'd know that while her powers could be pretty destructive, she'd never intentionally use them in a way to hurt someone she was friends with - until then, it didn't hurt to have a little fun of her own, did it?

Felix raised an eyebrow at her mock pity curious briefly what was so great about this Sandlot movie. He glanced to his shoulder as she patted it in a sympathetic way. Then she proceeded to tell him he couldn't run forever receiving an 'oh really' look in response. "You have an overinflated opinion of yourself obviously. I can always get another tutor. Maybe the next one will be less stuck on herself as well." A small grin on his face serving to let Raine know he was joking. She wasn't that stuck on herself. Just a little stuck on herself. Felix caught the rolling of her eyes as he jokingly whined about getting his own cup briefly wondering if she had caught he was joking. Hearing her reply he couldn't help, but poke fun at her as he seated across from her a triumphant look on his face. "Oh so you admit you think this is a date. I knew it. And here I was content to let this be just a friendly dinner. I guess your true feelings finally surface. Don't worry I'll keep your secret." Giving her a wink after he finished speaking he took a sip from his drink smirk clearly on his face.

As he was asked how he coped with being wrong the other ten percent of the time Felix shrugged. "It was an exaggeration of course it's more like ninety nine percent of the time. The other one persistent I just totally ignore. Yeah you aren't cut out to be a slacker. It's a shame really, but that's the way of things. At least you will try to take time off more. It's a start if nothing else." Felix took to looking around the room as he waited for his food to arrive. Not entirely comfortable with the silence and yet at the same time not really minding it all that much. Still the food was a sight for sore eyes as it broke the silence. He gave Raine a slightly amused look as she told him to just try it. "Fine.." She seemed to accept that he didn't find them amazing and he continued with his meal. She jumped a little as he pulled her from her thoughts by saying there was something on her face.

She apologized quickly and then set off in an attempt to wipe her face clean. Not finding anything she wiped a second time which was about the time Felix smiled. The realization of the situation dawning on her face and she tried to give him a glare, but the smile present defeating the intention of the glare. Giving a small laugh at her verbal reaction he grinned. "So I have been told on occasion. Seriously you should have seen the look on your face. It was priceless and I couldn't have hoped for better." Felix took a few more bites swallowing and giving her a a curious look. "I have decided I don't care what it is. You are too much of a goody two shoes to use yours in even a remotely fun or abusive way so I do believe I will take my chances. I on the other hand abuse mine for my own amusement all the time." Giving her a challenging look as if just daring her to prove him wrong he took a drink of his lemony beverage smirking as he did. Perhaps this was just his way of trying to get her to use her power.

"Oh, you can always get another tutor, that's true. But try finding one as tolerant of tardiness and lack of movie knowledge as me, while still getting the same grades." Thankfully, he broke into another smile, otherwise he just might have found out what her powers were right then and there. He could think she was stuck up all he wanted, she hadn't displayed half the hubris he had over the course of the evening. But, being a lady and all, she decided that it was best not to bring that up for now. Besides, the last thing she needed was for him to latch on to her being defensive as evidence that he was indeed correct, yet again, in the short time they'd been together this evening.

As he whined about having to get his own cup, she rolled her eyes slightly, sure that he was joking, but not enough to make a sarcastic remark right at that moment as she made her way towards a table. He took her statement to mean that she thought this was indeed a date, despite all her insistence to the contrary, which caused her to laugh slightly.

"Now who has an overinflated opinion of themselves? If I thought this was a date, you'd know." Giving him a playful wink once more, she settled into a table, grinning as he winked at her once more and took a sip of his drink. He was never going to let that one go, she had a feeling, and the funny part of it all was that they hadn't even known each other that long. Their conversation once more turned to him, however, and his shockingly high rate of being correct when she called into question the remainder of the time. He responded with a shrug, before insisting that he was exaggerating. Breathing out a laugh as she leaned forward to take a drink from her cup, as he explained just why she wasn't meant to be a slacker.

"Hey, don't get used to it. I said it was fun, but I'm lucky if I get a few hours a night off between classes and all my other obligations. And with college applications coming up, the pressure's just going to get that much higher," she said with a small shrug. The passed a few moments in silence, until their food came, thankfully noting that he seemed almost as uncomfortable for the silence between them that she did. He seemed a bit hesitant at first, though she told him to just try it, which he agreed to. Of course, then he decided to play a classic practical joke on her, by telling her that she had something on her face. She took two swipes at her cheek with the napkin in her lap before she realized that he was just pulling a prank, breaking into an involuntary smile and calling him an a** to show that she at least got the joke, whether or not she found it as amusing as he did. Apparently, the look on her face was all he was going for, causing her to shake her head slightly.

"Glad I could oblige," she said simply, replacing her napkin in her lap as she popped the rest of the uneaten crab rangoon into her mouth. She warned him that he still didn't know what she could do, and therefore he should probably be careful about pulling pranks on her. He then retorted that he no longer cared what her powers were, because she was probably not the kind of person that would use them in any way he would find amusing. Feigning shock as he spoke, she pressed her palm to her chest for a moment, looking incredulous as she leaned forwards over the table ever so slightly.

"I'll have you know that I have tons of fun with my powers, thank you very much. It's just that some of us can kill if we joke around with them too much, while I'm sure the best you can do is pants someone without getting caught." Sure, it was a challenge, but at the same time, she wasn't going to give him the satisfaction of revealing it now. For one, it'd been built up too much, and for another, he was just asking to get zapped when he least expected it. Leaning back as the waiter brought the rest of their food order out to them, she continued to grin cheekily at him as she unwrapped her fork from the bundle it was given in. Dinner was certainly taking an interesting turn.

Felix raised one eyebrow inquisitively at Raine as she mentioned him finding another tutor. "Who said I cared about getting the same grades? If you are the tutor that get's me A's and B's, then I am more than happy with the tutor that get's me the passable C's and D's. You forget I am not an overachiever like yourself. I will admit the next tutor is not likely to be as easy on the eyes." No Felix doubted very much that all the tutors were as attractive as Raine. If they were he might have attempted this whole song and dance years ago. Giving Raine a look that lacked amusement it could very well leave her guessing to if he was serious or not as he enjoyed. It was a good day when he could keep someone guessing. Especially one as amusing as Raine was proving.

The laugh coming from the girl was enough for him to shrug in an amused way as she spoke. "You can say what you like, but you are the one that dug the hole. Now you get to lay in it. Whether you consider this one of your so called 'serious dates' or not, clearly you consider this a date on some level. Though you do have me curious about the latter part of your statement. How do you act on a 'serious date'? Do you stop just shy of throwing yourself at your date?" It was obvious he wasn't willing to let her off so easily. She had been the one to slip up with the serious date comment and now every time he said it, air quotes would follow. He made sure to keep a smile on his face to keep her from thinking him serious with his latter statements. Sure he might be calling her out on her dating habits, but he was doing so in a fun way. He was prepared for her to do the same. To say he was skilled in twisting other's words around to suit him would be an understatement. He was prepared for her to do the same.

The topic of discussion turned to her other lack of a slacker bone in her body and Felix 'tsked' her as she replied back to him. "You are the epitome of a killjoy you know that? Here I am trying to enhance your life with fun and you will have none of it. Perhaps what you need is a boyfriend to focus on. That seems to get ladies of all age to relax a little. Granted most of the time their focus just get's turned to the boyfriend in question." Felix was naturally in no way offering up his services to be the brunette's boyfriend. "I am not offering by the way. I can see the little gears in your head already turning so..." Felix wasn't sure he was ready to be monogamous anyway. He was still young and deserved to enjoy his romantic life. His father had made sure to rob him of that when younger.

As Raine responded to his practical joke and he mentioned the look on her face, Felix wondered briefly if she was really that upset with him over it. The brunette steered the conversation again in the direction of her power whether intentional or not. She also took the time to comment on how much fun he could have with his own. "I seriously doubt you have much fun with your own. You are much to stiff to let loose and enjoy yourself too much. Whether you can 'kill' with it or not." His apparent loss of interest about her power could very well have been a ploy to get her to showcase it. Clearly he wasn't going to renew his investigation at the word kill. "And I can do plenty more with my powers than going around stealthily pantsing people. Though, I am not going to explain what other fun things. That is for me to know and you to never find out brownie." The mysterious look he gave her after held only a miniscule amount of amusement.

Taking a bite of food after speaking, Felix leaned back examining her face again as if she had something on it before looking back down. Whether he was waiting for her to ask if she had something for real this time or not was not made obvious. She could have had something on her face and he was simply remaining silent out of amusement. Only an inquiry would tell. Felix just wondered if she was willing to risk it.

I didn’t forget that you’re nothing like me.  Trust me, you’ve made that abundantly clear,” she responded, though her words were likely muffled from behind her hand, hiding the fact that she was mid-chew.  How someone could be so nonchalant about their grades was a bit beyond her honestly, though she fully admitted that she was in the minority when it came to her desire for success in school.  But, if she was going to get into the Ivy League, she would have to put the time and energy in now.

His expression never really waivered, so she wasn’t exactly sure how seriously he was considering getting another tutor to get away from her actually making him do the work.  His comment on her being easy on the eyes made her laugh slightly, hazel eyes rolling heavenward as she leaned against an elbow on the table.  Again, the topic of whether their time together was a date or not, with the firefly continuing to insist that it wasn’t despite his constant teasing to the contrary.

Oh come on, you know what I mean.  There’s totally a spectrum.  There’s getting to know you.  That’s not a date – this is not a date,” she started, motioning in a small circle with her fork towards him and then herself to emphasize her point.

Then there’s the hook up, going out, finding someone, spending some time together, going home.  There’s the casual date, just seeing if it’s someone you want to hang out with in a more intimate setting.  And then there’s the “serious dates”, where you go somewhere fancy, get dressed up really nice, hit the town.”  Her tone was as matter-of-fact as it could be, tossing her curls over her shoulder as she popped another bite of food into her mouth.  Raine was never really the “throw yourself at a man” type.  There was never really time for that.

You don’t agree?”

He seemed genuinely upset that she refused to acknowledge that she even had the potential to be a slacker, Raine laughing as he tsked his tongue at her and called her a killjoy and suggested that she get a boyfriend.  Instantly, an eyebrow raised, again releasing a laugh as he was quick to clarify that he was in no way offering up his services in that department.

Please, gears?  We’d be a train wreck,” she responded, shaking her head at the mere thought.  This was their first real meeting, and already it was clear that they would agree on very few things, if any at all.  He decided that it was a great time to play a little practical joke on her, which Raine didn’t find quite as funny as he really did.  Of course, she threatened him with her power, which he still didn’t know the details of, though apparently he no longer had any interest in learning just what she could do.

Hey, I have fun,” she responded in a suddenly defensive tone, hazel eyes wide as the blunt end of her fork moved inward to press against her chest for a moment before setting back into the food before her to dispatch of another bite.

I’m learning cribbage.  And, I’ll have you know, I am quite the trivia buff.”  He would never know if she was joking or not – really, she wasn’t.  But at least it got him talking about his power a little bit, the brunette chuckling when he mentioned using his power to pants people, amongst other fun things that he didn’t seem willing to talk about.  She could only imagine what kind of trouble his power and personality combination could get him into, and what that was going to mean for the Omegas.  If it meant a bigger headache for the Omega leader, however, she was all for it.

He leaned back in his chair, eyes scanning her face, and once again she felt like she was under scrutiny.  Was he trying to get her to fall for another prank?  Or was he seriously taking note of something on her face?  Clearing her throat as she lowered her drink from her mouth, she finally opened her mouth to speak, a slightly exasperated expression spreading across her features.

What now?”

Felix shrugged at Raine's response a brief amount of amusement playing at his lips. "You say it almost as if that's a bad thing." They were little alike if at all. Both of them seemed to think the other could stand to be more like them as well. Personally Felix didn't see the draw of going to a big school if it meant missing out on all the fun in life. And so far Raine seemed like she didn't have fun often. Clearly she needed to loosen up a little. "Besides let's face it. My choices are stay with the x-men or take my show on the road." Felix had no illusions about what he would be doing in five or ten years. He wasn't a nine to five kind of guy and with him being a mutant that limited things even further. Personally he didn't see himself staying with the x-men long term.

His comment on her looks elicited a laugh from the firefly and a roll of her eyes. Not long after they jumped back into the topic of whether this was a date or not. As she mentioned there being a spectrum Felix raised an eyebrow. "We got to know each other back in the library. Besides I'm not the one that mentioned this being a date then tried to retract the statement. That was you. So whatever you have to tell yourself to feel better is fine, but I know otherwise." Teasing her was proving quite fun and amusing. As Raine started going through the types of encounters the speedster smiled knowingly. "Well, by your little gauge there I would say you would classify this as a casual date. After all you did ask me out." He wouldn't be letting that go anytime soon.

Raine asked if he didn't agreed and Felix just stared back in silence not giving any indication which side he agreed with. Letting the conversation move on to Raine's potential to be a slacker the brunette seemed adamant she had no potential in that category. He almost wanted to call her a quitter. Suggesting she get a boyfriend Felix was quick to let her know he wasn't offering. He didn't want his livelihood in that department brought down by a girlfriend. Raine's response was enough to elicit a chuckle from Felix. "Train wreck would be putting it mildly, but people still ride trains." The firefly attempted to convince him she had fun and Felix gave her a look that showed his obvious doubt.

At her admission of her fun activities the speedster shook his head in disappointment. "My god I am sitting across from a nerd. So disappointing brownie." 'Tsking' the woman again he listened to chuckle as he spoke about his own power. While he would never go into detail of all the things he could do it was a fun thought to think of. Leaning back in his chair the man scanned the brunette's face for a moment as if she had something on it. Looking back down before she could ask he planted the seed and Raine was quick to water it. At her question Felix looked up in amusement. "Nothing brownie, nothing at all." Granted there was a small piece of food right by her mouth, but she wouldn't have believed him anyway right?

"Bad, good, it doesn't make that much of a difference, does it?" A hint of amusement tugged at the corners of her lips, wondering just how they were ever going to get along if they were so different. Still maybe they wold rub off on each other over time - he could stand to take some things a little more seriously and Raine would be lying if she said she didn't need to lighten up once in awhile. But she wasn't going t become some sort of slacker like he apparently wanted her to be - that was just to her style in tens lightest. He's learn that, as their time together continued. She could have fun, though, that would hopefully become clear as well.

He mentioned that he didn't know exactly where he would be in five to ten years, which caused the brunette to tilt her head to the side, slightly. Surely he thought that he had more options than that - he had to do something, right? She, of course, already knew where she wanted to end up. Yale was the first step, though from there she was still debating an MBA, or maybe law school. That she still had a few years to think about.

It seemed that they had a hard time deciding whether this was a date or not, each insisting that the other thought it was. She attempted to explain the spectrum of cross-gender outing, but he again threw it back at her, saying that she was the one that said it was a date and now was trying to retract her statement to save face. It was clear that she was never going to win with him. That was just something that she was going to have to accept at some point.

"Fine, we'll call it whatever you want to call it. Casual date it is. Though, I'd like to point out, I wanted to study, like we were supposed to. You're the one that didn't want to stay safely in the library, going over flashcards. So, sure I asked you if you wanted to get some food, but you practically forced me into it. That's the story I'm sticking to." And the story that everyone else would likely believe, though she didn't dare say that aloud. It was funny, however, that while she knew he was joking, he suggested that she get a girlfriend before quickly removing himself as an option. Even the brunette knew that it was just a bad idea, and even said so, to which he coyly remarked that while it would be a train wreck, people still got on trains.

"Actually, I think passenger train patronage is down in the wake of air travel, so your point is still true, but slightly dated." Her tone had such an air of authority about it that it could be easy to miss the jest in her remark, casting him a grin as she brought her drink to her lips to wash down the bite of food in her mouth. Going from that to the remark that she didn't know how to have fun, the firefly seemed wounded by the assertion, attempting to defend herself. It was clear from his expression that he didn't quite believe her, her mouth and eyes widening when he called her a nerd.

"I am not a nerd! Alright, Mr. Cool, what is your definition of fun? A night of pranks and juvenile debauchery?" She felt his eyes scanning her, at first attempting to ignore them before finally putting her drink down and asking him what he was looking at, almost as if she expected him to give her some sort of answer. She should have known better, even though they had not known each other all that long. He said it was nothing, hazel eyes remaining on him as if she were trying to decide if he was being serious or not.

"Do you enjoy being a jerk, or are you just that good at it?" Her napkin casually brushed across her face, hoping to get whatever it was, if there was anything there, that he had been staring at this time around. Her tone was still amused, though there was some genuine curiosity in her tone as she looked at him, still trying to figure him out. It was likely a futile effort, but she felt the need to try anyways. Raine was usually the one in control of those kinds of things - it was weird that she was having such a hard time now.

“That depends on the way you view things really. Some people would say it means a great deal.” Not that Felix would ever be one of these people. His statement was made in perfect deadpan and his features gave nothing of what he might have been thinking. That the two were so different was sure to strain any sort of friendship the two might have, but frankly Felix was pretty okay with that. If things were too easy sometimes it got boring and Felix hated boring. Boring was where alive things went to die. Maybe he would rub off on the girl and make her less uptight. She certainly could use with some loosening up. Felix on the other hand was perfectly fine the way he was, and wasn’t planning on changing anytime soon. He liked him who gave a damn if no one else did right?

His views on where his life was heading seemed to cause the brunette some measure of confusion as she tilted her head to the side and looked at him. He imagined in five to ten years there was a good chance he might be on the other side of things. The x-men seemed too goody goody for him, but for now they were teaching him further control of his ability, and providing him with plenty of good company. That was enough for now, it’s not like things were terrible.

Raine had a hard time admitting that she had basically asked Felix out on a date and the speedster was determined to not let that go anytime soon. She tried to explain her dating spectrum and Felix pointed out by her views that it was more likely to classify as a casual date, but a date nonetheless. Perhaps she finally admitted to herself that she wasn’t going to win and she declared he was right more or less. “I said I didn’t want to study and as I seem to recall it, you didn’t push the topic either. As the tutor you should have been the one to say ‘no we are studying deal with it’, not that it would have been effective. You were the one that wanted to get food and you are the one the suggested we go off campus for said food. When really we could just have easily stayed. So in conclusion, you asked me out on the date of your own free will, with no coercion involved. Think what you like missy, but you brought this on yourself.”

Felix mentioned Raine getting a boyfriend and had to tell her that he was off limits. He could have her thinking he was offering or she might get some funny idea going in her head. She mentioned it being a trainwreck and he agreed, but mentioned that people still rode trains. Her reply was met with a roll of his eyes. Could she be any nerdier? “I never said people ride trains all the time. I said people still ride trains. So your statement was entirely unnecessary, and quite frankly unwanted. We aren’t in debate club. Obviously, because if we were I would be winning so badly it’s not even funny.” Really how many conversations had went in her favor the moment they started talking?

Calling the girl out on her nerdiness, it was clear she was completely oblivious to her status as a nerd. How sad. “Let’s see, you dress for success, spout off random facts that have nothing to do with anything, and totally have no sense of fun. That brownie, is why you are a colossal nerd. It’s sad really that no one has told you this before.” She was a nerd in a smoking body, but a nerd nonetheless. “Well Ms. Uncool, my definition of cool is not something that can be easily explained. So for now we will just leave it at, the difference in the levels of coolness between the two of us are as different as the sun and moon. I’m the quarterback, you're the captain of the chess team.” Finishing his little analogy with a pointed gaze he took a bite.

As Felix took note of a piece of food on her face, he studied her for a minute to see if she would notice. Given his earlier joke concerning having something on her face he doubted she would believe him anyway, so when asked he responded in the negative. Her question caused him to raise an eyebrow. “Practice does make perfect.” Giving the answer as if it were the most obvious thing in the world, Felix went back to his meal without a second thought. As she wiped at her face with a napkin just in case the speedster glanced back up at her. “Do you enjoy being a nerd, or are you just good at it?” Posing the question as if he was anything, but disinterested in the question, she should have known by now she wasn’t likely to get off that easy. “By the way you missed it.” As he glanced at her face there might have been the tiniest of hints of amusement on his face. She was too easy to put off balance.
