"It would take many lifetimes to learn all the secrets of the universe, and even then it may still lay beyond our reach. Much of what we know now was first discovered by ancients long before us."
He smiled, an ever so faint blush on his ears, his tail twitching. They were like two children in a toy store, excitement feeding of each other. Sheridan would have happily sat on the roof with her, telling her about the stars for as long as she would listen, until he had said all he knew.
"I have read the oceans hold just as many mysteries."
Did science really know so little about the oceans that the stars were less mysterious? How much lay hidden beyond what living creatures had seen in stars or sea? So many questions, each answer seeming to bring even more questions, would they ever know?
"Physics mostly, some chemistry, though they are all connected. I also enjoy literature."
Now he was blushing again, the heat rising to his face, gazing at her for a moment before reaching out to take her hand. Another moment then he stood to his feet, his full height reaching nearly six and a half feet, his long tail flicking behind him.
"O...okay."

"Even now, History is still what dictates our future. We learn from our past to move on the future and yet, we still rely so much on the past." She thought of the ancient scholars who had dedicated their lifetimes to set up the boundaries of what future explorers would live by. But in doing that, we're limiting the questions to be asked? To be reevaluated? She left that for internally musing instead of asking out loud.
"The oceans as many as the sky?" She laughed, a pure lilt in her voice as it rang as clear as a bell. "Surely the sky has much more to offer questions then our own oceans?" She looked at him, "I can swim the ocean's with my eyes closed and yet I cannot look at the sky without feeling dizzy but its large expanse of it." she laughed again.
"Indeed you are a scholar, it must be fascinating to study all of those things. I've got a curious mind but it is too much too take in at a time. After all I am still learning about Land walkers aren't I?" She laughed again.
Ah, he had return to blushing, and when he grasped her hand gently, she tugged him up. Standing straight, he towered over her by nearly a full foot and a quarter. Her measly 5'4 was nothing in comparison to his much taller stance. She had to crook her neck up to study him, pursuing her lips. "My, Dragons are sure tall aren't they? Do you continue to grow taller or is your height based off a generic humanoid form?" She circled him in thought, and stopped to look at his wings. Her hand reached out before stopping a breath away, she looked up at him. "Do you mind If I touch your wings? I won't if you don't want me too." Her fins atop her ahead did a little quiver as she cocked her head at him.

"Perhaps, but to those who have not had the privileged of reaching the furthest depths of the ocean it remains as mysterious as the stars."
A smile and a thoughtful twitch of his tail. He did not know how far mermaids could swim, if they reached the darkest abyss or not, as for the stars, he did know that even though his kind could reach the stars, there was still much more beyond their reach.
Despite his height, Sheridan was far from broad. He was lean and lanky, light in build and long in tail.
"Some are tall."
He was watching her as she circled, looking over his shoulder, and trying not to turn completely silver. His tail flicked, move away and curling around so that the tufted tip hovered in front of him.
"I've...never thought about it, but I hope I don't end up too tall to fit through doors."
That would certainly be a problem if he did as he was already too tall and too long to fit through doors in his true form even at his young age. If his humanoid height grew in proportion to his true form...he was going to be in trouble.
"I...don't mind."
A new wave of blush, his wings twitched slightly. They weren't as large as one might expect of a dragon, the light structure and translucent membrane built for gilding and stabilization at high altitudes or, as they developed further, catching solar currents.

"Ah that is true as well. I know nothing of the deep's yet, it is a area better to ask of a Deep one, Oh like the girl Ys! She's really nice and a Deep one as well." Amphi smiled as she spoke of the other sea creature she had met, one she was quite endeavored to.
"Some? It must be interesting to see all the different heights then! So its not a humanoid form based off age or the such." She smiles as she continues her circling again, noticing the silver flush and the way his tail curled. She like his tail as well, it was an expressive feature of his being. Though she wouldn't tell him that straight out, she didn't want him to know that she was starting to notice all the little things about him. It made her seem creepy. Or at least in her mind it did.
"Haha!" She laughed at imagining him super tall and having to bend to fit through doors. "That would be quite a sight, Hopefully you won't end up that way Sheridan." She smiled again as her hand reached out, gently touching the wings from the spine like base to the light membrane. It almost felt unreal to her before she came to stand in front of Sheriden.
"You are a beautiful Dragon, Sheriden." She smiled at him again, light blue eyes to his silver before hesitating. "For letting me study you, I would like to give you a gift of sorts." She smiled again, though this time shyly.
"I very much like you, you've been very kind to me and answering all my questions. So I think the least I can do is show you a little of myself." She blushed as that seem straight forward before hesitating, "would you like to see my Mermaid form? We'd have to go down to the Lake for me to transform but I could show you what it looks like to be a mermaid!" She blushed again, this was a bold deceleration and step for her. Very few had seen her mermaid form. and even less boils had, One being the very flirty Sparrow.

The dragon blinked, watching Amphi as she moved around him, uncertain of how to answer any of her questions. Not that he could have stopped blushing long enough to answer even if he had found the words. Was he really so fascinating?
His tail twitched nervously, curling back behind him as she moved around, always away from whatever side she was standing on. It was an instinctive twitch, one that happened without his thought, as if it had a life of its own.
"Th...thank you."
He swallowed, very aware of the fact that he was blushing more than ever. Why was he so nervous? This was nothing compared to wearing a suit and going to prom!
His gaze shifted to the roof at his feet, then slowly back up to Amphi. Really? She was really willing to show him her true form?
"I'd..like that. I can...fly us there, if you like."

"Fly? Fly us to the lake?" She almost squealed like a Child in a toy store. Not that he was a toy or anything, but just the pure excitement of being up in the air, it would mean that she had experienced all of the world's wonders. First the sea where she had lived, next the land where she had come to learn and lastly, Sheridan would show her the Sky, the limitless void of air, currents and freedom. She almost hopped in excitement right over the edge of the roof before holding her hand up, reality crashing in.
"But wait Sheridan, Aren't I too much weight to add for your wings to carry us?" She looked sadly at the wings protruding him humanoid form, "I don't want to make myself unnecessary baggage that makes your wings work more then they should?" She cocked her head, "I'm sorry, I am not used to dragons, do you fly in your humanoid forms?" she pursued her lips, her fins dropped sadly as she assumed that when he meant flying, he meant with him holding her and using his current humanoid form. Or maybe he could do that? she was never sure what other species could do.
"I would love to fly there." she smiled wistfully and looked over the edge of the roof top.

He must have been glowing silver by now, or at least he felt like he was. But after a deep breath he gave her a reassuring smile. "You're not too heavy." Sheridan was certain he could carry her there, if nothing else he was skilled at flying. Still, the lake was a fair distance and they were on the roof, well it would make her feel better at least, right? A nervous twitch of his tail, he looked away for a moment as if debating something. And then, his mind made up, Sheridan reached for the skull pin attached to his earring. A moment's pause, and he had removed the pin and set it with his book. The changed was instant, but somehow graceful, as if a wave had swept over him. In his true form, the celestial dragon stood on four legs, limbs long and thin as was his body, tail curling as if caught in some unseen breeze. Silver plates starting at his neck continued down his chest to his belly, similar scales also plating his lower limbs. His mane was soft and full, starry hide covered with fine downy fur. "Just hold on, I won't drop you."

"Oh well." She smiled, oddly taking that as a compliment as he stepped away from her. He gave her a smile that made her heart thumb before touching his earring, pulling it off to set with his books.
The change had come quick as he was enveloped in a silver light over his body. It didn't blind her, for she could see the shape of him change from his land walking humanoid form to that of...a dragon.
"Oh my." she covered her mouth with her hands and stared. he was magnificent form of a dragon, leaner and more Aero dynamic. Silver, blues, purples and blacks still painted his scales in the pattern of the sky, his wings larger of a span. Down on all fours, his legs seemed to grow longer. She was left only staring at him before coming over to touch his head. "Sheridan?" She asked before moving around him and touching him.
When he spoke, she jumped and then giggled. She almost expected that he didn't talk and was pleasantly surprised that he spoke in the same soft voice as his humanoid form.
Her hands buried deep in this thick mane as he dropped himself before she stared at him. "Oh wait!" she ran back to grab his books and pin, tucking them close to her body before coming back over hesitantly. Unsure of what exactly to do, she grabbed the man gently and pulled her self to sit on his back, tucking her legs awkwardly in the the groove of his neck. She gripped his neck tightly, squeezing her eyes shut. "O-Okay!"

Crouching low, his belly touching the roof, Sheridan waited for her, glancing at her with a shy smile.
"Ready?"
He waited for a moment, until he was sure she was firmly settled on his back, then stood to his full height, pushing himself from the roof with his long legs. His tail swayed, swishing back and forth like a serpent propelling itself through water, his wings unfurled, and with a gentle leap they were in the air.
One in the air, the dragon 'swam' through the air, his body curling and uncurling, following the motion his tail had portrayed only a moment ago. His limbs tucked back, wings outstretched.
"Hold on!"
Wait, was that a smirk? Well, if he was going to fly her to the lake, then he was going to -fly- her. His wings folded back, the dragon turned skyward, climbing high above the school and the trees, seemingly propelled by the swimming motion of his body and tail.
It was a beautiful night for flying, a gentle breeze touching the underside of his wings as he outstretched them again to catch the current.

After lamely crawling onto Sheridan, to which she had felt very unbalanced and again, lamely making herself comfortable. She did not prepare herself for the actual thought, nor execution of lifting off. He had ran from the roof, giving a powerful bound that shot them straight into the air, his body crouched before lifting with his wings, a giant flap that sent a gush of air as they dropped and rose.
She held in the urge to scream, it was terrifying and thrilling and so UNKNOWN. Her grip tightened more as she attempted to lift herself up and then smiled, laughing as she felt the air currents rush over her. When his wings folded in, she braced ehr self, gripping her super tight.
"Ah, Sheridan?" She yelled before she did scream as he drove straight upwards. She felt her grip almost slipping and dug her hands, she thought she was strangling him with her grip when he evened out and glided the currents.
Hesitantly, she pulled away and stood up, her usual tied back hair loosened to fly free and floated around her. She took the deep breaths of the night air and kept her legs tightened and arms firm as she stared around her.
"The Night sky is so pretty Sheridan!" She giggled as she enjoyed it. "This is more then I can ever repay you." She hugged him tightly, even his dragon form and enjoyed seeing the sky and the land before her. She couldn't wait to show him her mermaid form, in hopes that he would get a thrill as well...Or maybe, she should sing him a song! Her hands clapped as she found another way to repay him.

He glanced over his shoulder with a light smile.
Flying with someone on his back was more difficult than he had expected. It wasn't that flying itself was difficult, the change in balance easily adapted to. As an eastern dragon type his wings were less used for flight itself, but rather for stabilizing and to catch the currents that carried him to greater heights. Flight for the dragon was effortless, seamless, moving through the air like a fish would through water.
What made the flight more difficult was his sense of awareness. Suddenly he had to be conscious of the mermaid on his back, aware of where she was and her grip, whether she was still firmly seated or if she was slipping. He dared not turn to sharp, climb too high, or dive to quickly lest he send her falling to the ground below.
They were over the lake, wings folded back, a gentle sloping dive toward the water below. He circled, gliding above the surface of the lake as he descended.

Amphi smiled at him when he turned to her and kept her grip light as she contiuned the ride. It wasn't long though that she saw the lake underneath and patted Sheridan with a thanks. He glided closer and closer till she could smell the serenity of the lake. Ah it called out to here. Patting him, She slipped from his back and straight into the pool.
A shimmer of blue and purple flashed under the water, and as he glided to the shore, she swam underwater. If he looked closely, he could loosely see her form , like a Koi in the pond.
The closer to the shore they got together, the slower Amphi's swam became until she was able to emerge her head and torso out, laying on the sandy shore while water still lapped over her. She payed attention to the Lake's layout and noticed more jagged but comfortable rocks for her to climb onto for when she would show Sheridan her true form.
"It was like I was the sea and sky at once." she murmured before flipping over to the rocks, satisfied. Climbing up, she waved to Sheridan from where she was.
"Over here Sheridan!" She gleefully called out, though she didn't emerge from the water yet. She would wait till he could find a comfortable spot and then unveil that which only a few students had seen...and lived.

He circled the lake multiple times, gliding lower and lower until his talons touched the water's surface.
And then a splash caught his attention, and suddenly aware the weight on his back was gone, the dragon turned to search the water. For a moment he thought she had fallen, a relieved smile as he realized she had jumped on her own.
He gazed into the water below, watching the shimmering silhouette as he glided toward the shore. Ah, there she was. He circled once more, finally settling on the rocks with a light touch, as if only a feather had touched down.
A smile, he shifted on the rock, laying on his belly with his arms crossed in front of him, tail flicking lightly behind. He watched, how easily she moved through the water, as easily as he moved through the air.
"How is the water?"
He hoped there were no skitter sharks in there.

Amphi watched as he landed, now comfortable on the rocks and pulled herself up. Her clothes had vanished somewhere in the depths of the lake, seeing as her natural form cleared any extra baggage from her. All that remained was her star shape pendant, and her natural black with neon blue bangs. She continued to pull herself up, until her tail and everything was out. Sheriden would see her true form under the full moon, the light shining off her bright purple and blue scales. Smiling shyly, she tucked her hair behind her ear and let her tail flip up water, sparkling a few drops on him. "So um...What do you think?" she blushed, she couldn't hide herself now as he saw more of her then she usually showed anyways. Red flush bloomed on her cheeks as she remained quiet until he spoke. She still wanted to give him the gift a song, to express the joy she felt from flying with him, though she wouldn't if he didn't like how she was now. "I...I know its kinda of weird and all, and um..." She ducked her head, rubbing her arm.

He watched her, head titled curiously, his gaze captivated. He had never seen a mermaid before, at least not a mermaid in her true form. She was beautiful.
His tail twitched, that silver blush touching his ears again.
"I...you're beautiful."
He blinked, staring at her for a moment, his gaze broken by the shock of cold water splashed in his direction. Ah, it was cold, much colder than he would have expected.
"Are...you okay?"
She seemed troubled? Why would he think it was weird? Not that he really knew what she meant by 'it'.
