Punk actually isn't that hard. You could easily learn the style in less than three months.

Hey, Anyone here no anything about punk bass? punk like the remones, anti flag, the misfits, casualties, ect ect.. I have to put this band together in four months to cover for this opening band that is out.

play punk you ask, well thats almost more easy thantaking a crap.
to be honest, i hate punk i dont think it is very musical at all. (no i am not spamming it is simply the truth)and 2ndly it is easy, on the amp; turn thte pre-gain past the master volume by at least 2 full numbers, and turn both your amp and your bass more in between treble and bass (in other words also learn how to work your eq.), also you play by the bridge with a pick; well thats how, yes it's all so easy and that's it. And im probably the 10th person to reply but, oh well. lol

bassically, your right

Its all about the message in punk, not the music. like 80s rap. it told you something in the music, be it political, satire, or social. it made a point.

Right, but rap back then was talented. Whether you like it or not, rapping back then was full of poetic devices and was far more lyrical than anything rap has put out recently. 80's rap took talent, punk takes rebellious ignorance and power chords.

your forgeting one thing, rap is'nt musical!

Why would I care about what a bunch of musicians have to say about politics?
*Shrugs* hey man, People listen to music for differant things, I dont know what YOU listen to it for, but someone might listen to it for political messages.
What do I listlen for? musicality, it has to involve more than a bunch of 8th notes and crapy lyrics, and power chords, and usually when i listen to good music like Cream; usually there is a guitar solo! or are people in punk bands so untalented that they can't solo!

Well...When punk came out, that was the idea...it was rebeling, it was raw..it was bare and simplistic and vary jagged. There is nothing wrong with punk in my eyes...simple doest nessasarly mean bad.

"lissen to every thing, expeshly the stuff you DONT like, alot of the time you can take it apart, and see what makes it tick. Offten you will have a grater apreshaion of that music.'

'it doest matter if your playing, as long as you play you express'

Then dont listen to it genius. And just because they dont does not mean thay cant. And in some songs there are solo's, there not seeing just how fast you can move your fingers but they work with the song. And who are you to say what is good music hmm? Some people like the quick and simple punk riffs. So next time you listen to your "good music" just know that there are people, ones that are knowladgeable about music even that still think it sounds like crap.

Define musical for me. While a lot of rap does suck, there is also rap that is not only far more talented than anyone on this site could write, but also very well composed (musically speaking).

1. Cream is the shizz. There's no denying that.
2. Because music is popular, or well-liked, does not make it good. For instance, Green Day right now is selling more records than Mozart, or any other classical musician for that matter. Does that make Green Day better than Mozart? Pshaw. Of course not. Ask just about any punk "singer" (and i put that in quotes because I have yet to hear true singing out of a punk band) what key they sing in for a particular song, and they will probably have a puzzled look on their face. . . if you can see it through their bangs and eyeliner, that is.

you are very closed minded.. music is a way for people to express their beleifs, emotions and opinions. and thats what they are doing, singing about what is important to them.
