"There you go, good answer. While some rules are meant to be stretched or bent depending on the circumstances, be wary of those who would ask you to dishonor the spirit or break them. Good answer." Ja'syn gave a genuine smile and sat up a little more. "Be sure to remember that especially if you plan on being a rider."
Brynth settled once more, pleased with the answer.

Falawny kept his expression passive as the dragonrider approved his answer. Was it some kind of test then? Did Ja'syn want him to lie, knowing that sometimes rules were broken? Unsure exactly what it was all about, he nodded. He could think for himself and make his own choices when the time called for it.
"I was Searched sir, but I know there is no guarantee I'll be picked." His eyes darted to the dragon. Often he'd been told and lore said it was the dragons who chose. Looking back to the rider he took a shallow breath. "If there be not else sir, I'll leave you and your beast to a pleasant night." He waited then, to be sure there wasn't anything else on Ja'syn's mind.

"Go on then. I don't want to keep you from other tasks. And if anyone asks, you can send them to my weyr. As for being picked, whether are or are not is not the question. The question is do you want to be?" Ja'syn stood and got out of his cot. "Anytime you wish to chat lad or perhaps learn some more about dragons, come and see me."
He clapped the boy on his back and walked towards the ledge. "Same goes if you are looking for a ride. But think about what we talked about today." And with that, he disappeared behind Brynth's bulk.

"Aye sir." He doubted anyone would question him since he was doing as he was instructed. Still it was kind of the rider to back him up if needed. Falawny looked up at the rider. Did he really want to become a dragonrider? Everyone dreamed of coming to the weyr and Impressing a dragon of their own at some point in his or her life. Would a dragon really pick someone who didn't want to become a rider?
The candidate struggled with the connundrum for a moment. He would have been perfectly happy to stay at his home hold and mine gems for the rest of Pern. Could he man up into being a rider if he was chosen? Falawny knew he'd have to think on that some more. Right now his thoughts were stunned as Ja'syn offered to chat or learn about dragons. That was a kind offer, and Falawny wondered how many other candidates got offers for private lessons.
He gave Ja'syn a smile as he got slapped on the back. The familiarity with the rider surprised him. His jaw dropped and his eyes bulged with shock when Ja'syn offered him a future ride. That would certainly put him in the rider's dept. "Yes sir!" He said respectfully to the retreating back. Once the rider dissappeared behind his dragon, Falawny gave Brynth a deep respectful bow. Shouldering his sack of glows, he left the weyr; feeling that he just might fit in here after all.
