When their sandwiches were done, Petro produced the required amount of seeds to pay for their food. No, Sheridan, please don't ask where Petro brought the pumpkin seeds out from. Some things are better left unknown. In between swallowed mouthfuls of his sandwich, Tro answered, "Ain't Prom a sorta Rite of Passage thing for students at school? 'M thinking the Student Council'd have all sorts'v surprises planned for us. Riley said it ain't much of a celebration and from the pictures she showed of what y' wear, it looks like some sorta test of endurance and will."
He made a face at the very thought of wearing pants. Sure, most of the students did wear the things but Tro had never quite liked that particularly constricting clothing. "Why? Y' know something different about Prom?" He gave Sheridan his undivided attention at this, a solemn expression on the tikbalang's face.

Don't worry Petro, Sheridan has absolutely no intention of asking, he does -not- want to know! Ever!
Sheridan held his sandwich in hand, waiting until Petro had paid the vendor before taking a bite. Hmm, not bad, it was actually pretty good, which might have been why he immediately scarfed down a second bite.
A brow raised, pausing mid-bite to stare at Petro. Oh dear, just what had Riley been telling him? Wait, maybe he didn't want to know the answer to that. Not that he'd ever been to a prom either...
"Prom is a dance, it's like a big formal...party."
Well maybe it was more than just that, but that was the basis right? There was food, and dancing, and music, and...girls.

Petro gave a snort, "Can't be much of one if y' gotta wear all that cloth. Ain't right comfortable, if y' ask me." After another bite of his sandwich, he continued, "I get the formal bit, but ain't formal more've Ceremonial Garbs like more intricate bracers and armor and stuff?" Clearly, Tro was referring to his own Clan's interpretation.
A beat and then it occurs to the tikbalang that his friend more than likely didn't share the same background. Given that the celestial dragon wore a lot of cloth. But then again, compared to Tro's loincloth, nearly everyone wore a lot of clothing.
"Ain't that how it works where y're from, Sheridan?" He asked with a tilt of his head at the celestial dragon.

The dragon's tail twitched as he took another bite of his sandwich, his expression thoughtful for a moment.
"I suppose formal depends on who you ask."
Though he didn't think the 'formal' implied by prom was the same type of formal that Petro was referring to. Ceremonial wasn't quiet the same was it? No, he didn't think it was.
"Well, we don't take human form where I'm from, so we don't really wear clothing."
He had spoken the words casually, his tail twitching as he scarfed another bite of his sandwich. It never occurred to the dragon that anyone might be scandalized by the idea of such a statement. At least Petro was probably the least likely monster to think so? Not that anyone should, do you have any idea how hard it would be to find clothes to fit a dragon?

"So y' don't usually wear clothes, but y' don't mind wearing 'em in general?" Tro asked with a quirked square-root brow. "We usually wear nothing. Whatever form. 'S only 'cuz 'm outside the Clan's territory and general tikbalang territory 's why 'm even wearing a bahag," he explained, mildly annoyed by this fact.
"Someone oughta make it clear what "formal" means," he eventually grunted and finished the rest of his food. "Show ain't gonna start soon, 's it?"

"Clothing makes it easier to move around in this form."
The dragon shrugged, no he didn't mind wearing clothing, not in this form. He'd have rather remained in his true form, despite the advantages of taking a human form at times and the difficulty of moving through buildings and towns as a full sized dragon.
"I believe formal in this case refers to fancy suits and dresses."
Not that Sheridan was any happier about such a dress code than Petro. He wasn't even sure where to look for such clothing let alone how to wear it. For that matter he didn't understand why it was even necessary.
His own sandwiched finished off, he disposed of the trash in the appropriate bin.
"We have time, but we should head into the theatre and find our seats."

Tro gave Sheridan another dubious look, "Tch, how're clothes supposed to make it easier for y' to move around in?" It was obvious the horse boil had already made his mind up about the subject matter of fashion. For all he wanted and knew, everyone would be better of just going all natural.
No matter what their form was.
"Suits and Dresses, huh?" the words sounded unnatural rolling off of Tro's tongue, as if he'd never heard of the concept. But he did, Riley had shown him before. It still didn't make it any more normal for him. "Augh, let's just go see the show. Stakespear's sounding to be a lot less'v a headache than Prom," he grumbled.

"Protection against the elements."
Especially when one was normally covered in fur, a thick mane, and/or large scales. Perhaps this mattered more when one did not normally have a human form. Then there was also the point of others not being distracted by one's bare rear end...or other parts.
"I must agree with you on that."
Sheridan could not help a slight chuckle at Petro's statement. For his own part, he'd have much rather watched any stakespear play a dozen times than wear a fancy suit to attend some dance with a...girl. *gulp*
It was a short walk to the theatre door, Sheridan opening the door for his friend and walking in behind him. Once inside the dark building (complete with spider webs, dusty corners, and bats hanging from the ceiling), he took the tickets from his pocket to show them to one of the ushers.
Their seats were in the balcony, in the center section a few rows from the railing. And while the view may not have been as good as from the orchestra level, they could see the full stage and would be able to see the actors clearly.
He hoped it would be a good show, though he'd still have rather seen something by Williams...or Mozart.
