I'm Tasha, I'm 19 and from New York, attending college to maybe become a teacher or to work with kids. I am a writer, a reader, a gamer, a lesbian, a best friend, a cisgendered-ally to transfolk, a keeper of the house, a huge fan of Star Ocean 3, a dragon fanatic, an anime fan, a yuri fangirl, an older sister, and also completely lost faith wise.

I found out about Wicca when I was 14 years old and I saw an article about it in a magazine at school. Interested, I looked up Wicca, and I was intrigued. I decided to initiate myself a couple months later, thinking it was the right path for me. Been 5 years since I found out about Wicca. Still studying when I can before I can go from "electic pagan" to "wiccan." I say I'm wiccan so I can put a name to it, but...I admit I need some guidence.

I am LOST. I don't know what to think. A good majority on the forums say I'm not wiccan because I haven't joined a coven. Some even say the books I have are completely wrong. (No, I don't have anything by Silver Ravenwolf. I have something by Dorothy Morrison, Scott Cunningham, a book on magic from various cultures, a Wicca for Dummies (Go ahead and laugh), a book on chakras, a skinny book with several different spells (various purposes. Though even a friend said it "wasn't accurate.")
I don't know what I'm supposed to do, or what path is right for me. I can't even find the deity(ies?) that are supposed to be watching over us.

I can't even do a tarrot reading without getting confused anymore...

Hello!

I'm Cat, or Nerdanel, or erdy. Whichever.

I'm kind of agnostic bordering on atheist, but I have a great respect for nearly all religions, and I admire people who maintain belief and faith. I really love comparative religion and I'm kind of obsessed with Joseph Campbell's views on mythology and the idea of religious archetypes.

I got invited here after a rather horrid experience on the Gaia Religion and Spirituality forum, where I was flamed pretty furiously for mentioning that, in order to be Wiccan, one doesn't necessarily HAVE to join a coven. Solitary is fine.

For some reason that...didn't go over very well.

In any case, I'm glad to be in a place where non-flaming discussion and debate is encouraged and I look forward to talking to everyone here. :3

I got that for even saying I didn't know that much, so aperantly I'm not wiccan because I don't know EVERYTHING. -_-

Anyways, Nice to meet you! Merry Meet and Blessed be, Nerdanel!

Hello... I got accepted into this guild quite some time ago, but I'm just now building up enough courage to write an introduction. I guess I just didn't really know what to say because I am truly an atheist. Or, at least, that is what I call myself and that is what I consider myself to be for the most part. However, I've realized for many years now that Wicca seems basically like a religion perfectly made for me. I love tarot cards, and divination; faeries and centaurs; dreams and astrology. My first (and only) book I've read about Wicca was The Complete Idiot's Guide to Wicca and Witchcraft (don't laugh) and it basically changed my life and blew me away. Wiccans say this book is complete crap though so that disheartened me a bit. I enjoy the company of goddesses such as Oshun and Erzulie Freda. I have Erzulie Freda's heart symbol tattooed onto my body.

Hi,
I'm Tenshi. I love to learn about religions maybe have one of my own oneday. My home is consisted of Christian based values, but being 17 I want to branch out and see the world how it is not what my family tells me what they think. I've been reading about Wicca and Paganism for over a year now and even met some real practitioners. That's surprising for me considering that I live in the Bible Belt of America.

My friends at school either don't know or understand why I want to be different. It's not about being different it's about wanting to feel like I belong I guess. Not to mention other religions fascinate me. Anyways, I'm getting off topic I guess. I've been learning about reading auras, and people's emotions. I want to start on the background of Wicca. The starting of it basically. If anybody can help, please pm me.

I'm very open minded and easy to get along with. I like to learn and I understand quickly. Well I guess that's all I have to say and ask.

I went through the exact same thing you went through a few years ago. In the end, I discovered Joseph Cambell, liked most (if not quite all) of his ideas about religion and mythology, and became mostly agnostic (though lately I've become very interested in Heathenism/Asatru, and thus I may be getting back into being a pagan). What helped me overcome my spiritual crisis was to focus on the similarities between various religions, not the differences.

I know plenty who identify as "eclectic Wiccans". They don't follow any specific hardline tradition. That sounds like it might be describe you. As far as I'm concerned, though, if you feel you've studied hard to gain an understanding of Wiccan principles as a genuine devotee, not as a fad or anything like that, you've earned the right to call yourself Wiccan. Reading is good, read all you can. The more you read, the more you'll know, and the better-equipped you'll be able to be to figure out your spiritual life. The first step to wisdom is admitting you don't know everything.

The Gaia forums seem to me to be FULL of Wicca!snobs who will jump down your throat unless you've been super-secretly initiated and know secret names and oathbound material (that Gerald Gardner in all probability mostly made up anyway). I think these people are the worst kind of exclusionary fanatics. Pursue your own ideas of religion and find like-minded friends. Leave the fanatics to their own devices and do what works for you. "Find your bliss," as Joseph Cambell said.

Good luck, and PM me if you want to talk more. :3

Greeting and Hallucinations! Some of ya'll already know me, and those who don't will either like me or not. I've been a Discordian for as long as I can remember. Chaos follows me like a little puppy looking for a sammich. Bear and Vwytche have known me for years, and they can attest to this. I'm a mostly functional Bi-Polar (at least as functional as a meat-popsicle can be), two-bit grill cook, and somewhere along the line, became Adult Supervision at work, instead of one who needed the supervision. wink

And no, though the avi is female, I'm not. But, if I'm gonna look at an avatar, I'd rather it not reflect reality.

As a recently-diagnosed hypomanic (a step below bi-polar) I can sympathize with all of your chaos. I'm actually very interested in learning about Discordianism, though I don't think it's really for me. I'm a Freya devotee. :3 But anyway, if you're ever interested in chatting about Discordianism (or anything else) or sharing resources what-not, please send me a PM. I need more religious friends, and you seem cool. And we're both friends with vwytche, so....yea.
