Following her sister, Victoria eyed the man still, very suspicious. Her cat growled and prickled at her shirt. Her sticking her fingers on her cat's head quieted her and she forced her eyes forward to the manor. After a few strides in, she unzipped her jacket and let her cat drop to the floor. Nymphs shook off her feet and sniffed the ground for a bit before returning to Victoria's side. Smiling a bit, she Victoria looked over her shoulder at the man, straightening her collar before heading to the kitchen. I got the nom-noms, she thought to herself and strode to the kitchen as if it was her own house. She stayed close to her sister, waiting to see if they were going to make a move to sneak into the batcave. If so, Victoria didn't want to be the last one in; she'd rather be alone in the batcave then alone in the mansion with mister mystery-pants.

”I can imagine.” Reaper replied, closing and locking the door. He followed behind them, catching the glances sent his way. He didn’t expect to be trusted right away, but the younger one couldn’t seem to get off being suspicious.

”I'm sorry no one's here that you came to see. This is quite a ways from the city…you two walked here all by yourselves?” he asked.

"Yeah, we're used to lots of walking... no biggy."

The girl shrugged off the trip her sister and she took to get there, even though Wally nor Uncle Barry never really took them on a straight shot to Gotham from home. Was it her, or did they have fewer miles to run than usual...? Jaquelyn pushed that thought from her mind; it sounded so silly when she ran it through her head twice.

She noticed they where heading to the kitchen... she was running low on 'feul', despite the energy bars, and she knew her sister and both animals would be hungry too.

"Er, I hope it's not to much if we could ask for a little... something to eat?"

”I see no reason why not.” Reaper replied, following the two into the kitchen. ”Is there anything in particular you would like? There should be plenty of food. Microwaveable, and easy to cook, and I believe one of the cupboards is full of snack food.”

Still glancing back at the man, Victoria's thoughts slowly slid from him to food. She was hungry. Especially from all that running. Still letting her cat trail her closely, Victoria looked through the fridge first, glancing through everything to find something she- "Oooh! Pickles!" She snatched them immediately, along with the hot dogs and the milk. She turned to show the hot dogs to her sister, asking with her eyes if they should be on the menu. On the very large menu. Handing her sister the hot dogs, she switched again and started fiddling with the pickle jar. No luck. Biting her lip, she kept trying to twist it, but it was on tight. Should've guessed that B-n-R have to close everything tightly. She puckered her lips, already salavating from the dill pickles that awaited her.

Jaquelyn smiled and took the package. She was careful not to be too quick with her actions, even thought she 'hastened' it up a little... this man likely didn't know who they were, and by the way he was acting he didn't have a clue. On the way to the cupboards FG took a moment to open the pickle jar with a grunt and handed it back to her sister. She looked through some of the pantry and took out some boxes of macaroni before she found where the plates were. Pausing, the girl looked around her shoulder to the man.

"Did... you want something to eat?"

She was mostly asking if she should take down three plates instead of two. He was, after all, taking care of Mr. Wayne's house... no doubt he ate in the kitchen there as well.

"Oh no." Reaper replied. "I've already eaten today. You two help yourselves." he said as he moved towards the table to sit down.

Alright...so now what should be done? Should he ask them more about how they knew Wayne? Why they'd come over?
PostPosted: Sat Jul 16, 2011 10:53 am

"Okay-"

FG turned around to look at her actions as she took down two plates. In the next few minutes of preparing, she was also able to locate silverware, pots 'n pans, and other cooking supplies. She was able to start up some boiling water in no time.

The girl was growing more nervous the longer they kept quiet. The man had a reason to be there... but what if he was more curious about them? It had occured to her several times now, that he may start asking questions, and she tried thinking through potential answers as she pretended to completely focus on the food she was making.

Once the pickle jar was open, she dug in. After five pickles, her eyes locked to the mysterious man again. She hid her curious look behind her bangs, and took a few more minutes before silently closing the jar and walking out of the kitchen. In the shadow of the hallway, she kept her eyes on the kitchen, making sure he wasn't looking... and dissapeared down the hall in a blur.
Glancing around, she ended in a cozy room with a fireplace. She inspected the room, especially the bookcase, for anything that could be rearranged. For anything that looked scoured. The guy could know that Bruce is Batman, but even if he did, he might not have known where to find the cave. Hm, but if he knows where the house is, he could easily find it's blueprints. Though the batcave probably isn't in the blueprints... Still, if he's still in the house and not raiding the cave, shoudn't that indicate that he hasn't found anything? Or maybe he has and is up and looking for more. Still... Victoria frowned, staring at the bookcase intently. There wasn't enough information about this guy to get a good angle on him or any of his intentions. Did he really have no clue about anything and was just taking care of the house? But no one in this household would have let an innocent person look after it; they could be attacked or find the cave. No. It was more likely that they would leave the house unwatched then involve more people. Then the real question was if the guy was good or not. Victoria sat down, still staring at the bookcase, though with a vacant expression.

Jaquelyn turned around to see that her sister had 'sped' off, in the literal meaning of the term. She looked at the man quickly.

"Um, she probably went off to find a bathroom. We've been out for quite a while."

Her focus stayed on the doorway to the kitchen for a little longer before turning back to the food preperations.

"So, how do you know Mr. Wayne?"

Anything. Anything at all to keep the room away from a haunting silence.

Reaper watched the youngest girl excuse herself from the table and leave the room completely. His eyes darted back towards the older girl as she made an excuse for the youngest one’s actions, then fell back onto the empty hallway.
”Of course…” Reaper replied, his eyes flickering from the empty doorway towards the other girl. He wasn’t one to correctly judge human behavior, but the girl’s attention rested on the hallway a little longer than he thought would have been normal. And he could practically feel the distrust that was radiating off of the younger girl before she left. Then again, maybe not. Perhaps he was simply looking for excuses to pry farther. He turned his full attention back towards the girl as she asked the first question. ”Business acquaintances.” he replied easily. There was enough twisted truth for that reply to be an honest answer. He didn’t tell her exactly what kind of business…super heroes and super villains were an occupation, right? Besides…he DID meet with, have dinner with, and extremely temporarily team-up with the Joker quite some time back. So that was technically a mutual acquaintance. ”I’m from New York City. I did some work with people here in Gotham, and they work with Mister Wayne on a regular basis. With all of the universal merging, and all of the other chaotic situations going on, my job kind of forced me to expand and do some co-oping with other areas. Gotham’s been a frequent area outside my home, so I’ve stationed myself both here and New York.” not a bad explanation, he thought. Vague enough that it was truthful one way…but enough information that it shouldn’t be too vague. If any more detailed answers were needed, he shouldn’t have much problem thinking of answers. He DID come from a wealthy background…he should be able to improvise any kind of business details. But still…perhaps he should shift the spotlight.
”What about you two?” he asked. ”I never did get your names. Are your parent’s friends of Bruce?”

He didn’t really care too much about her reply. He just wanted to shift things a bit so that he didn’t have to answer anything right away. That way, he could snoop with less of a chance of getting caught. The one girl was here, and the other was supposed to be in the bathroom. Might as well make sure that’s where she went to. Lets see…try to track where her heartbeat’s at…blood flow…thought waves….
Huh. That didn’t seem like the restroom. Bathroom was at the other end of that hall, wasn’t it? Wait, was that the room he was just in? How did she get clear over there so quickly? Well, more of an excuse for him to pry. He still didn’t know if these two knew…so, he could justify that he was making sure they didn’t stumble upon something they shouldn’t. Since he couldn’t physically leave to see just what she was doing, he’d have to try and pick her thoughts again. He was starting to get the hang of this telepathy, so he should be able to use it from this distance, having a lock on where she was.

Well…he could read enough. Her thoughts were still racing far too quick- oh. That was it, wasn’t it? These two had powers that had something to do with speed. She couldn’t have gotten all the way to this room without such an ability. And he would be able to read their thoughts if they didn’t have some kind of speed power.
So…he could establish that they were both meta-humans. He could probably also establish that these two did know. That would give the young girl all the more reason to be acting the way she was towards him. Overly suspicious.

Alright. Well this girl wasn’t acting quite as judgmental as the other seemed to be. Should he just…ask her? Hint at it maybe? If he could speak openly, rather than dancing around the truth, it would save everyone a LOT of headaches. Not to mention if someone come back to the house that DID really live here, then he probably wouldn’t get ganged up on as quickly if these two knew the truth about why he was here. But he didn’t want to just outright say anything either. If he made one slight wrong move, they might very well freak out on him or something.

Ugh. How the **** did he get into this kind of a position? He would MUCH rather be trying to get a droplet of their blood…just to see what kind of powers they really had. But, he was being GOOD. Being good was the best option for him right now, as twisted as that was since his leash holder was GONE.
No scaring anyone…no cutting anyone…no killing anyone…no blood. Just…try to be good and pretend you know what you’re doing. ….**** it….

FG had been preparing for this question since they walked into the manor.

"I'm Jaquelyn. My sister's Victoria- our parents know Mr. Wayne more through our uncle. He works with him every now and then on big projects. Our uncle lives in Central."

The girl leaned forward with her elbows on the table. It was always easier to keep the 'stories' straight when they were actually true. Uncle Barry and Batman were both in the Justice League along with Wally, who in a way wasn't 'blood' related to them. His adopted aunt married their Uncle Barry, and if it weren't for the Flash-mantles, they probably never would have met him in person.

FG looked at the man as she rocked side to side. Waiting was always the hardest part of cooking. It would have been nice if she could make -food- heat faster. Maybe if he wasn't in the room, she could experiment.... then again, making a mess of Alfred's kitchen wasn't on her to-do list.

She looked down at the table again. As far as she could tell, this guy had no idea what they really were, or who their relatives were. The search was still ongoing for her's, and Impulse's, entire family. Their parents, their cousins, and uncles, aunts.... including Uncle Barry. Jaquelyn traced her finger along the wood design as she gave a sigh, suddenly taken by how alone the two sisters really were... especially when they were so rooted in family.

Victoria sat up a bit, realizing she had been gone for quite some time. Sometimes, she just shut down for some reason; absorbed in thought, she guessed. Standing, Victoria eyed the door, finally realizing that she was in this large, open portion of the house alone. In the dark. She just hated the dark. Closing her eyes, she peered around the door frame to stare into the long, dark hallway, as if trying to scare herself. Indeed, the sight of the long hallway--which she was also afraid of--made adrenalin rush through her. Taking a deep breath, she had enough of the fear and rushed down the hall, spinning through the corridors in a blur.
But she overstepped it. She intended to stop just outside the door of the kitchen, and indeed that was where she stopped. Rather, that's where she started stopping. She bent, about to get to one knee, but the adrenalin had pushed her too far forward and she only slowed a bit before falling forward and tumbling into the kitchen. And into the mysterious man. With a squeak, she and him toppled over and landed with a thud on the tile floor.

((Haha! Chaos! Now their little problem has been solved. XP Hm... I guess that's less chaos.... who cares? It was awesome. XD))

The young girl's sigh distracted Reaper enough that his attention fell back onto the girl in the room with him. He paused a moment, taking note of the child's expression. "Everything alright?" he asked.

The next moment, however, Reaper found himself on the floor with the younger girl lying across him. He blinked for a moment, trying to let his head catch up with what had just happened, then looked over at the young girl.

// Ah, it would be better if she managed to bust her lip and bleed or something. XD Reaper want Flashy powers. XP //

Victoria looked down at the man, turning beet red. I blew it. Squeaking with embarassment, she darted to her feet--much fast than anyone else could--and sunk back. "I-I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to. I just am not very good at stopping. I mean whenever I start running I just keep going sometimes and I don't pay attention to everything else-" Little did she know that she was talking much faster than before as well. The spaces between her sentences, and almost her words, were gone, as well as their cover. Busted.
