______________________________________________________________________________ The sound of cannons exploding could be heard far off in the distance. [moving a little closer] A large ship burst from a cloud of black smoke completely unscratched as two pirate ships could be seen trying to... Run away from it? "Don't let them escape! Prepare the the tackle lines!" A mans voice could be heard from the bow of the ship. The pirate ships both began trying to turn as they yet again opened fire on the single ship. The man's eye's narrowed slightly as the orbs of destruction seemed to explode before coming anywhere near the ship. "Fire!" The man yelled as what looked like giant iron hooks linked with steel chains fired from the single navy ship. They hit the two ships head on, bursting into their sides before hooking and bringing them to a stop. "Drop the anchors! Brint hem to a stop! Second company! Advance and bring them down!" He yelled as two more ships burst from the smoke the first had burst through.
The pirate ships again attempted to fire off their cannons, tho this time the balls exploded right in their barrels as they caused massive damage to the ships themselves. "Now's your chance!" He yelled as the two other navy ships pulled up beside the pirate ships, navy men began leaping from the ships onto the pirate as the sound of clashing swords would ring out across the seas. The man who'd been shouting the orders simply took a seat and sighed quietly. "new low bounty pirates always try the same tactics... run and try to abandon the other guy to save your own a**... then as an ending result... the other will try to do the same... and they both wind up screwing them selves over..." He said resting his head in his hand as his men took the pirates into custody. "Sink their ships by burning them down and take the prisoners to the stockades..." He said as each of his men saluted before yelling "YES SIR!".
The three navy ships could be seen slowly sailing away with two piles of fire slowly sinking into the ocean behind them. Soren, the man who'd been shouting the orders was standing on the top back deck with his man standing at attention lined up on the deck. "You've all done well... but tell me Marines! What is it we fight for?" He asked in a calm mono-tone voice. "We fight for hope!" "And what is that hope men!" "We are that hope Sir!" "And what kind of hope are we!?" He yelled. "WE ARE THE SHIELD OF HOPE SIR!!!" They all yelled as Soren raised his right fist high into the air as each of his men did the same. "And never forget that!" He yelled as all of his men saluted. "now go get some rest, but take turns with your regular shifts... First platoon, you have first watch, second and third, get some rec." He said turning to take a seat in his chair that sat not to far from his cabin door.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ xxxxxThe distant sound of cannonfire didn't distract Sunny from the task at hand. The fish was going down, one way or another. "No, Alka, I've got this. I will not be defeated by a fish!" Sunny cried out, gripping the knife tighter. A determined blaze lit her eyes, and she reeled back, aiming a slash at a patch of scales. The patch was no match for Sunny's rage, and flew off the fish, leaving the salmon-colored flesh behind. "Yosh! I'm getting the hang of this. Now, one more time..." Letting out a barbarian cry, Sunny aimed another barrage of slashes at the fish, this time cutting off the skin in a cleaner, more effective manner. By the time she was finished, she fish was completely skinned, and Sunny was standing up straight with her hands on her hips, the knife pointing outwards. She laughed loudly and grinned up at Alka, "Told you a fish wouldn't beat me!"

Alka had heard the cannonballs as well, and instinctively sought to duck, as if to dive underwater as a shield against them, leaving only enough of her head above water for her eyes to remain above the water line. Marines....they had found them...no....not yet. They had been chasing some other vessel. Likely more pirates. Either way, a bad situation, considering their pants were down, so to speak. Ill prepared currently to deal with a patrol of marine ships, as Alka thought of them, she had to find a way to get Sunny and Luna away. Quietly she slipped close to the ship's railing and whispered, "Sunny, I'm pleased you have conquered the fish, but I'd suggest stowing it in the cabin, or something, because we're going to have to get out of here now. There's no way we can escape undetected, there are marine ships further out in the bay. I'm surprised we haven't been seen as it is. Furthermore, they just captured pirates...means that they're looking for more, or some village reported activity. Your ship's flying a jolly roger, which marks you as a pirate vessel. I'd suggest taking it down, or something. I've got to get their attention while you get you and your sister elsewhere. I'll rendezvous later. I'm bigger, and more readily to catch and hold their attention. Plus I can outswim those ships. Hit 'n' run. Go, go, go!" Alka hissed through her teeth, though hesitated to make sure Sunny got the message and was following through.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ xxxxxSunny sighed. Of course the marines had to come just when she'd finished off the fish. She did as she was told, though and took it to the cabins, where she plopped it down on a table and walked out on deck. She started to lower the flag, thinking of Alka. Looking up at the mermaid, she called up, "Be careful; don't die!" While she hated to run off and leave her first-ever crewmate, she had little choice at the moment. They were in a boat against a marine fleet (well, from the sounds of the cannons). If one cannonball even came close, they'd be flipped and Sunny would drown. That's it, game over, no One Piece, no grand finish. End of story. "I'll try to find an island and meet you there; see you later!" Sunny said, waving and giving a childish grin. Taking a deep breath and focusing, the same motor-like wheel appeared at the back of the ship. It started to turn slowly, at first, then it picked up a little, spinning quickly and jetting the boat away. One thing was for certain, and that was the fact that Sunny had only just gotten a first mate. It definitely wasn't time for a 'goodbye' yet.

Alka watched as Sunny began doing as asked, though her expression didn't change...she was relieved. Thank goodness. I can still outswim her rapid pace so that they'll notice me first. I guess I'd better get going though. Standing around here won't accomplish anything. With a deep inhale and exhale, Alka dove below, descending deep to allow the shadows where light failed to penetrate to hide her approach. It was ridiculously easy to see upward, though she hadn't expected to see three at once. She'd hoped for one or two, as she could have easily gotten them in one blow. Where were those extra arms when she needed them? Frustrating, to be certain. Either way, she picked two of them and jetted upward. She clenched her hands into fists, and, lifting her arms clear of the water, proceeded to use them and her strength to literally cleave both ships in twain by use of her forearms. Her tail then kicked forward and upward, while she arched herself backwards to slip back under the water. The updraft itself from her tail kick was enough to make a miniature "geyser" that spread the halves of the ships apart so that they sunk in mere moments. With the foam and bubble torrent everywhere, most of the men that could swim would either be too preoccupied with saving those that couldn't, or couldn't see her directly. Again she readied for a ramming charge, using her right fist in an uppercut at the remaining third ship. She only needed to really break its backbone, and the ship's crew would need to worry a great deal more about keeping the ship afloat than it would about manning the cannons, particularly if she didn't ever truly break the surface. It felt good with the destruction of two more marine ships, and probably some deaths as well. Keep hurting them, and perhaps they would withdraw..or something. Ideally, she wanted to teach the marines that these were NOT their waters, and basically to piss off and stick to the land.

______________________________________________________________________________ Soren continued to sit there as one of his men called something out from the left ship. "Sir! We've spotted a small pirate ship! it's only got two women on board and they seem to be trying to run awa- ahhh!!!" Soren's eye's widened slightly at the sight of his ship being lifted... Only to look tot he right and see the second one as well... He quickly stood up as he tried to think.. But was left in awe at the creature before him. "what in... gods name..." He mumbled quietly as the ships Captain started speaking to Soren. "Sir! Sire what do we do!?" He yelled at him, Soren quickly shook his head as the creature quickly dove back down under water... "is it a sea king? no it' sto small to be one..." He mumbled quickly running to the bow of the ship, standing on the plank sticking out. He stood there with his heel's together and his hands at his sides as he quickly generated a massive shield beneath his own ship, and those who'd been floating on the surface...
He held out both his hands as he started to slowly lift them, keeping his eye's set on the water as the large shield slowly began to lift his men tot he surface, but just barely... Enough to keep their heads above... As well as the small piece of Debris that didn't sink right away.... There was no way to account the men quite yet as Soren's eye's were searching for something else... The shield he'd generated was easily big enough to have protected all three ships from below... So he wasn't necessarily worried until one of the men on the shield started shrieking. "SIR!!! IT'S RIGHT UNDER YOU!!!" He yelled as Soren's gaze remained calm. 'it can't break my shield... nothing can and nothing will. "You forget Marine! We are the Shield of Hope! We show what!?" He yelled as each of his men, the ones in the water and the boat each yelled. "NO FEAR SIR!!!" They all yelled saluting... They all seemed to be saluting Soren, not looking back down at the water... Tho that didn't change the fact that they were piss scared... ______________________________________________________________________________

Two ships down...was it enough? No. Would it be possible at all to destroy this ship? Not even with the god of the seas' trident. What a ridiculous failsafe. I hope it doesn't move with that on, otherwise, I'll have to transport Sunny and Luna around either inside me or in some sort of submersible and go underwater. I swear though, if it goes underwater, then it's on. I should go get some sea kings and somehow piss them off enough to attack it... Alka shook her hand. She had never encountered something that never gave in to her strength, and she honestly wouldn't have been surprised at all if the lucky scumbags on that one didn't even feel it. Nursing her hand, Alka turned her attention towards nursing an all too frequently long-lived patient....her grudge. Swimming away and down below, she again vanished into the shadows of the deep, where at least she felt safe from the "floating" tank. **Exit out somewhere**

______________________________________________________________________________ Soren's left eye twitched slightly as the creature beneath the surface stuck the shield he'd put up. 'what the hell is something like that doing in the south blue... as well why would it attack my ships without any reason... this makes no sense... no I think I've heard of this actually... it's supposed to be a merwoman... her size is unknown exactly... Tho she just sunk two of my ships like they were nothing... Hm... Interesting...' He thought as he continued to keep the shield up, simply to keep those who'd been injured to the point of being unable to swim from drowning... "Begin salvaging who and what you can, we'll head to armor island to seek medical attention for the men, then we'll return to headquarters... Tell Second platoon to begin watching the waters them selves from now on as well... tell them that if they see even the slightest suspecious thing move, to alert my with a whistle or yell it... Doesn't matter what time, or what I'm doing... this is a top priority... I want the Captain of this ship to write up a report for when we get to Armor island..." He said.
[an hour time skip and exit to Armor island] ______________________________________________________________________________
