The tightness of the cave surprised her for a moment before she remembered that it had been a long time since she was a foal. Apparently secret caves didn't grow in space when you needed them too. Still a little rattled by the thunder from before the mare tried to relax albeit briefly before letting her gaze fall on Illarion's form. He was an anomaly. Maybe it was time she got his story from him. Maybe it would help her to understand why he didn't seem like others of his race.

The cave's interior was much too small for two Soquili and by keeping herself in her own protective bubble she was probably making it really awkward for Illarion to stand just on the edge of being inside. Canting her ears back a little Coda glanced to her left before stepping closer to the wall. There was not much improvement but her silent movements had opened up a space for Illarion to move into if he so wished. The move would be blatant enough that she acquiesced to his question of moving closer. Coda didn't trust her voice at the moment as she was sure it would give way to a tremulous sound.

There was still confusion over what she was feeling now. Certainly there was nervousness over the matter of Illarion being a Kelpi ... but was there something else at work too? Something she didn't understand.

Illarion had moved in, and it was a relief from the gusting stinging blow of rain that had been present at the opening of the cave. He watched her nervous movements her afraid eyes, he wanted to comfort her. It was some feeling that welled up in him, but he pushed it down. She wouldn't like that, wouldn't like him close to her. For some reason that feeling stung, though it shouldn't have. Why should it matter that she didn't want him near her? Why should he feel...sad about that?

He tilted his head as he looked at her for a moment, before glancing back out of the cave. "It's going to be a long night. It doesn't look like it'll let up anytime soon." He furrowed a brow, maybe he should just leave? But it would be far to another cave, and he'd have to risk the lightening. He looked back at her, and for a moment, the idea of leaving and being out in the storm seemed more appealing than the fearful look she gave him. But as she gave another shiver, he once again had to stop himself from approaching her.

What was going on with him?

Coda sighed softly as the wind whistled across the mouth of the cave. She had heard Illarion's words. As to confirm his statement lightning lit up the sky and a part of the cave before the answering thunder made her close her eyes. It was true. For as much as she loved the primal forces of nature the mare had a hard time with thunder. The lightning didn't really bother her although she knew it was dangerous. It was the crashing wave of sound that usually followed that still terrified her. It was hard to fathom. Her eyes suddenly widened with a realization. The stallion before her was also hard to fathom - perhaps she shouldn't try.

Lowering herself to the ground Coda gave a small sound to catch Illarion's attention. Nodding to the open space beside her she wordlessly communicated that she was a little more comfortable if he wanted to join her. With that small problem behind her she allowed her voice to try and carry over the storm.

"I think you're right. It just seems like it is in its infancy," her voice dropped a little bit as she paused for words, "and I think I owe you an apology Illarion."

Illarion heard her offer and for a moment, he thought he had imagined it. Crossing slowly to her, he laid down beside her--but not too close, situating himself between her and the mouth of the cave.

He was taken back by her change of heart about having him close. He could feel the warmth of her very, very close to him. For some reason, it seemed his heart was racing in his chest. He'd felt something like this before...what---His eyes widened as he remembered that. He had felt it, only very briefly and to much lesser degree with another mare. Only a few fleeting days, and a warm feeling of exhilaration. But not this white hot flame that seemed to be within him and beside him.

He looked at her, his eyes wide, "You don't have to..."

Sunset's Coda watched as Illarion laid down beside her. There was still a little bit of distance so they weren't exactly touching. The mare pondered if it was intentional. Perhaps Illarion was trying to make her feel more comfortable. Even if their bodies weren't touching there seemed to be a mild current that passed over her. It wasn't an unpleasant feeling. Coda let her head bow down as Illarion spoke. Her ears twitched slightly as another powerful gust of wind echoed through the cave.

"I do need to apologize. I have heard of the legends that surround the Kelpi race and I was ... I guess a little hasty in believing all I've been told. You don't seem to fit the stereotypical Kelpi though and it makes me wonder if all I've heard is true."

Coda brought her gaze to peer into Illarion's eyes after her confession. It was true. Blinking softly the mare let her apology show through her eyes.

Illarion watched as she layed her head down, and watched as she seem to be affected by the storm. Maybe his shielding her was helping some, she wasn't as frightened looking as before. "It's okay," his voice was soft and close between the gusts of the storm. He didn't want to yell at frighten her again, "It happens. I've never met a kelpie like that. My father is a unicorn though," he added with a shrug. "Maybe that has something to do with who I am."

He saw the honesty in her eyes, but they had a calming affect on him. Yet, at the same time. It was like an electric jolt through his body. The tingling along his spine, caused a slight shiver. "You really don't have to apologize." He blushed softly as he looked down.

Coda let Illarion's statement sink in of his mixed parentage before glancing over at him again. The stallion looked as if he were pure Kelpi. Maybe there was something deeper at work that she didn't understand. Coda chuckled softly as she recalled her parents' shock over her sibling's appearance. Somehow between two regular Soquili ... a Uni had appeared. Coda mused on this before seeing the cave entrance light up with lightning.

To hide her reaction to the thunder that crashed as a result Coda began speaking to Illarion. "I'm not sure I understand everything yet. You look like you are a pure Kelpi. I think that's what shocked and maybe frightened me at first. It's almost like a small situation in my family. Both my mother and father are regular Soquili but somehow my brother ended up with full Unicorn traits. We just can't explain the mystery."

This was the first mention of her family to the stallion beside her and Coda fell silent as she realized what she had said. It didn't stop her heart from beating just a little quicker. This was too weird. Her mother had told her just once of how she had met father. And now she was in sort of the same scenario.

Illarion smiled, "My mother is a kelpie. My father is a unicorn, my brother Ithilli and my sister Temeko both are half and half. I'm the only one who fully has our mother's breed. But my colours are almost soley my father's. It just happens that way I guess."

She was suddenly talking to him, it was a pleasant change as he settled in more to turn his head to see her better. "I guess somewhere in the family...you know?"

He noticed her strange reaction after she spoke, and he leaned his head down and gently nudged her. "What's the matter?" It was everything to keep his voice even as an electric jolt shot through his body at touching her.

The storm still raged on outside the cave but inside Coda listened as Illarion spoke of his family. It sounded to her like it was an interesting combination. She wasn't one that quickly judged a situation although she had when she had first seen Illarion from afar. What was it that made her act like that? Fear, Irrationality? Perhaps it might have even been shock?

She wouldn't know for sure now that her outlook on the situation had changed. Coda was brought out of her silent thoughts by the nudge that Illarion had given her. She shivered briefly at the contact but it was not out of fear. The contact was light enough but her reaction was from being caught in her own thoughts. Blinking at the stallion Coda heard his words and the concern in them before shaking her head.

"There's nothing really the matter. I once asked my mother on how she met father. There are similarities between our situation now and their meeting in the past. That's all. I mean there are differences ... but the common link is the storm."

Her voice sounded composed and even. Her mind though seemed to be racing ahead. There was just something surreal going on and she couldn't explain it.

Illarion felt a similiar chill as she spoke, so in some way...she was feeling what he felt too. "They met in a storm?" His voice was soft still. For a moment, he wanted to say something more...to say that maybe the past would repeat itself, but he didn't want to bother her.

For a moment, he carefully considered her words, not quite sure what to say. "We're not them though. We...determine our lives. That doesn't happen, unless we let it happen." He could feel the burn in his cheeks as he said that.

Laying his head down, he looked up at her for a long moment, hoping he hadn't just made her extremely uncomfortable.

Coda listened intently to Illarion as the stallion spoke about situations not being the same. She canted her head to the left as she mulled over what to say. There were vast differences between what happened in the past with her parents and what was happening now. But how much should she say about it? Perhaps it was better if she didn't say anything else. One major difference though was the way in which Dradneos acted towards her mother during their first encounter. Illarion showed none of the aggressiveness towards her and that was a pleasant feeling.

Speaking of feelings - the mare was noticing more and more that she didn't quite seem to be the only one being affected by the close quarters. Every now and then a small shiver wracked her frame but it was due to the stallion beside her and not with the steady drop in temperature from the storm's intensity outside. It seemed as if there was a current flowing between herself and Illarion. From the odd twitches Illarion made ever now and then Coda suspected that he felt it too. Deciding to partially answer Illarion the mare spoke softly. "I know that some situations, even if they start out the same, can diverge and end up as totally different situations. The future is what we make it to be ... right?"

Coda nudged Illarion as she finished speaking before ducking her gaze. Just what was she feeling? A strange playfulness was arising in the young mare.

Illarion watched her as she seemed to be thinking about what to say. Noticing her shivers, he wasn't sure whether it was his proximity or the cold that was increasing. Part of his side was cold, while the other side was electrifying and warm with the closeness to her. He listened intently as she spoke, and nodded in agreement. "The future is ours to make it what we want."

He felt himself blush again, he had said our. Perhaps it sounded too assuming. Maybe she wouldn't notice? But as she shivered again, he hazarded the chance to scoot closer as she nudged him gently and ducked. He felt his face hot where she had touched him. His side was on fire, so close to touching hers, and he let out a small shiver. Partially from cold and partially because of strange emotion overtaking him.

Did she feel it too?

Illarion took a small breath and nudged her back before laying his head down close to her, the better to gaze up at her and hide the emotions that must be evident on his face.

Coda watched Illarion carefully before throwing a little bit of caution to the wind. He didn't seem like he was a threat now and perhaps she had misjudged him with the onset of their meeting. Now it just seemed that he was a stallion with a gentle personality. She wasn't like Midnight with her manipulative ways but Coda's tenaciousness sometimes got the better of her. Right now her mind and heart seemed to be in just a little bit of conflict. Sure she'd met other stallions since becoming an adult but nothing ever came of those encounters. But there seemed to be something here with ... Illarion that she just couldn't fathom.

As Illarion nudged her again she looked inquiringly at the stallion as he lay his head down near her side. She gazed into the redness of his eyes before sighing softly. She knew of course about love and how it could strike someone in an instant. Laying her head down alongside Illarion Coda had to wonder was it truly what she was feeling? Weary from the trek to the beach and then the emotional roller coaster ride that she'd been on since the mare nuzzled Illarion once more before her gaze flicked briefly to the cave's entrance. Waiting out the storm seemed to have been a good idea but how was she going to explain what she'd found on the beach to her mother and father.
PostPosted: Mon Jun 27, 2011 10:45 pm

Illarion felt the heat increase ten-fold as she nuzzled him back and settled down beside him. He kept watching her gently, as she dozed into sleep. The storm raged behind them as he nestled close to her. So, she felt something to?

He wanted to continue looking at her, trying to think what to say when she woke up...but he couldn't. His mind was heavy with sleep, as he nestled as close to her as he dare. Peacefully, his mind drifted into sleep as the wind raged just beyond.

Was it all a dream? It had to be. How on earth could it have not been a dream? Meeting a stranger on the beach and then hiding from a storm in a cave. Talking about how the future was set by one's choice and not fate. Coda, her eyes still closed, stirred as the last vestiges of the dream escaped from her mind before bumping into what she assumed was one of her siblings. She'd just started to apologize when the scent of an unfamiliar stallion had her opening her eyes in a hurry before she took in her surroundings. Cave walls greeted her vision as she took in the colorful kelpi stallion sleeping by her side.

It wasn't a dream after all. Coda glanced down at Illarion before calming her racing heart beat. A quick glance to the cave mouth gave the mare a little bit of relief. Moonlight filtered at the entrance and she glanced to it and then back at Illarion before gently stepping over the stallion's body. She must have slept longer than she thought if the storm was gone and night was here. Standing at the entrance of the cave Sunset's Coda let the moonlight bathe her form. Her gaze took in what she could see of the beach and then the night sky above.
