Cass shook her head and shrugged her shoulders. "Nothing I could for sure say was actually a ghost. I could lie through my teeth about it if I needed to though." She probably had lied through her teeth about it more than a dozen times in the past. So many times she hadn't even cared about it.

Though lying was bad. Cassandra did know her own moral standpoint. Hmmmmmm. Perhaps it was one of those 'please the parents' thing she had going on. Well, used to have going on. She never had to worry about that eeeeeeverrr agaiiiinnnn.

Eeeevvveeerrrrrrrrr again.

Ah, it was liberating.

"Well, I don't mind reading anything you got~ Variety is good, right?" she seemed content with the fact that he didn't have The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen with him. She was sure that he was one of those people that had good tastes based on his reaction to the movie v the original.

Then again, it may have just been the fanboy in him talking. Either way, she was chill.

Always chill.

"Thanks~" she didn't wander far past the door that Bix held open for her, instead vouching to wait on the other side for him with a rather eager grin on her face. It was..KIND OF an adventure, right?

Riiiiight?

Well, it was certainly one of the furthest places she had been inclined to go since settling in.

"I had spooky experiences at my grandmom's house. Why's it always grandmoms?" He smirked a bit as they stepped in. "I never saw a ghost though." The Commissary looked like a combination from your typical high school caf and a college dining hall. Thankfully there were NOT any food pyramid posters up.

He wrinkled his nose. Ah yes.. the indistinguishable smells of mysterious cooking. There were other people in here, none they knew and all in white coats. They were spared a few glances but as new recruits it didn't seem like anyone paid them any mind.

"What's your favorite food?" She was raised in a van! She couldn't have had very much home cooking. Of course he wasn't much of a cook but he could boil noodles and make grilled cheese.. and once in college they'd had an easy-mac cook off!

"I'm sure what with your van-living you need to try ALOT." He stuck his tongue out at her a bit.

Cass hadn't been in any sort of 'standard' dining area, so it was all interesting to her. Her enthusiasm over ever new thing could have been infectious in her excitement. The 'mysterious cooking' smell actually reminded her of the back of a fast food restaurant a certain extent. HMMMMM.

She shrugged lightly.

"I like milk." she said plainly. "and juice. Soda is OK, but after years and years of sprite everything starts tasting funny. I mean, the first time I drank orange juice while we were on the road, it burned like hell because my body was going.." she paused to flail her arms and do a sort of 'I'M MELLLTTTIINNNGGG' impression, "AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

She corrected herself just as quickly, however.

"I'll admit I have a penchant for Chinese food, however. There was this one place out in I think...." she crinkled her nose, thinking. "We were passing through Utah at the time. They made one hell of a Lo Mein. It had pork, Chicken, beef, and shrimp in it and it was yum. Though we stopped at a few pleasant diners as well. I'll admit I will miss that part of everything."

She laughed and scratched the back of her head.

"But hey, I can handle having slightly more regimented meals in exchange for this comparative freedom."

"I looooove diners. It's as close to home cooking as you can get... not at home." His parents were the normal miscellaneous white person mixed heritage. They didn't cook anything that wasn't standard american food. "My mom fried like... everything. Of course that's how my dad likes it. Lots of meat cause my dad hunts a lot. Ever had venison?"

The cafeteria was buffet style. There was a usual selection of hot foods, a breakfast-y section and a 'build your own' sandwich sort of thing. The hot foods looked to be something that rotated on a usual basis. Most importantly though, off to the side, "COFFEE!"

Bix hurried slightly over to it grabbing a cup and using the urn to pour himself some. He picked out the french vanilla creamer and then veeeery carefully put a spoon of sugar in. It was rather precise. Then, without blowing on it, he took a huge gulp. "AHH..SO GOOD." It was said high pitched. He'd totally burned his mouth but apparently it was worth it.

He blinked away the tears of pain and looked for some open seats. He'd like to enjoy his coffee a minute before he could decide on a snack. "You ever have.. sushi or japanese food? How about korean? OOO or PHO?"

There had been a chunk of his teenage years where he wished he'd been asian. The sentiment had grown out of him but the love of asian food never did.

Cass shook her head slowly. "My parents were about as white as they got, so if my dad couldn't pronounce it, we didn't eat it. Well, not as a family anyways. If I snuck out and ate by myself? Different problem. I mean, don't get me wrong, Chinese Food was Chinese food. It was just...renamed chinese food."

...Renamed..Chinese food?

"Example, Lo Mein was 'floppy asian noodles with meat'."

...
......

Lolwut. She cringed a bit. "Yeah, those parents. Ever see Transformers the-horrible-Micheal-Bay-version? Yeah. Sam's parents were totally my parents. Only slightly improved."

SIGH SIGH SIGH. HORRIBLE RENTS.

"I will say I snuck a lot of sushi into my diet though. Even though I had no idea what anything was at first. Ever had a Godzilla roll?" she wiggled in excitement. "Amazin-"

Hey, where had h-

Oh. She paused, watching him obsess over the coffee. She had to admit that coffee wasn't exactly her cup of tea (no pun intended), but it was good for waking up in the morning. The morning coffee was always fabulous. Especially when it was an early morning.

She laughed nervously, unaware that his spastic behavior was exactly how she herself acted 95% of the time.

"But yeah...sushi is pretty decent...I guess..." she looked over the strange food set up, before seeming content to just make up a bowl of fruit and sit with it at the first table she could shanghai. Fruit was good.

And somewhat healthy, she guessed, but it was one of those 'normal things I eat when all I eat is unhealthily' things going on.

"Hey Transformers wasn't THAT bad.." He piped up a protest now that his mouth had cooled down. Of course his tongue felt dead from the burn. He'd not be tasting whatever he picked up to eat but that may be a blessing depending on how good it is. "I mean.. at least the robots were cool. The ones that weren't racial stereotypes... AH s**t." He was on the island now! He was going to miss the new transformers movie.. and the Captain America movie! oAo

"They didn't answer enough questions for us." he huffed and sipped his drink. He eyed the buffet but his gaze drifted back to Cass. Apparently once he got past feeling weird with a new person he went straight to crazy-chatterbox mode. "Like.. living sort of stuff. Other than what we bring, what can we acquire or have? I mean we joined the goddamn Dharma Initiative. WHERE'S THE SUBMARINE? WHERE DO THE FOOD DROPS COME FROM?! WHO ARE THE 'OTHERS' ?" Had she seen Lost in her van? Hopefully.

Staaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaare.

"Are you friends with not-Kate? I think that's what she was saying. Gamma 3? She ran around going 'I AM NOT KATE'." She had to assume it was the same reference being made. She didn't exactly know much about Lost. It was a show.

She hadn't watched much of it.

Cass stabbed at a piece of cantaloupe, popping it into her mouth and chewing on it thoughtfully. Mmmm, it was really juicy, actually. She had no complaints about quality, at the very least. Then again, they hadn't been taken prisoner on this island. It was like enlisting in the army, she assumed. She had to guess they'd be treated reasonably.

Not nicely.

But reasonably.

"I think right now, it may be better if we don't know. I mean, it's kinda like earning your stripes in any sort of group, right? The more respect you earn, the more they tell you."

She scratched the side of her head.

"Like Claus Philipp Maria Justinian Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg, winner of the silly-names olympics. He earned enough respect to get close enough to Hitler to nearly assassinate him. Same principal, only we're not plotting higher-up assassinations."

Cass paused.

"At least I don't think we are?"

"There's someone named 'not-Kate'? I remember umm.. a harry potter person I think." Despite there being a group of them, he'd only encountered one or two while in the pod-sperience. "How weird." She hadn't been one of those Harry Potter people.. had she? s**t. he didn't want to get on anyone's bad side YET. Even if he had screamed at that Davey guy on their first mission.

He sipped down the rest of his coffee and tossed the cup in a trashcan at the end of the table. "You are probably right about not knowing. The dealings are a little shady around here. I can't tell the difference between who around here is a trainee and who's in charge..."

Bix was correct though. Caelius didn't look too much older than any of them and he wore the same gold and white coat as everyone else. How was Bix supposed to know who to behave in front of?!

When she mentioned the attempted assassination of hitler he snorted. "I wasn't planning on it... but that guy was badass with his tore up arm and his eyepatch!" He clapped a hand over his eye. "I'm not feeling like I need to kill any higher ups.. are you?"

SHE WAS CRAZY. SHE MAY BE!

"I didn't have any run ins with the Harry Potter group. I was too busy killing myself, coming back to life, and then killing myself again." She scratched her head, it itching at the mention of 'killing herself'. She took another bite of fruit, nom nom nom nom.

"I think Caelius's coat is a bit fancier than those of the other people, so that might be something." She answered, wondering if it was just a fancy coat, or if it meant something more than Caelius was a fancy b*****d.

Well, he definitely was a b*****d, even without the 'fancy' part of it. Fancy b*****d. Grrr.

"I doubt I have it in me to kill another human being. The creatures on the beach weren't a problem for me to pull the trigger on, but I can't bring myself to hurt other people. Not intentionally, anyways."

Cass shrugged. She wasn't really crazy more than she was highly energetic and erratic in her behavior.

"Besides, I like the people here so far. I'd hate to have to form a murder plot less than a week in."

Bix had been watching her eat fruit and suddenly he also wanted fruit. He stood up to get some and tripped slightly over his chair, stumbling a bit before he regained his balance. He tried not to look at her face so he wouldn't be embarrassed. It only took a moment before he was just seated with a bunch of grapes. He picked them off one by one and popped them in his mouth, eating a few at a time before he even chewed.

"So.." He said it through the food, so it was kinda gross and muffled. "I saw you making out with that dude on the mission.." He looked away a bit but felt in a teasing mood. "Working fast huh? You didn't think I WOULDN'T ask did you?"

.....
.............

. . . . . . . . . . . . . COUGH SPUTTER

Cassandra nearly choked on another piece of cantaloupe when Bix cornered her with that inquiry, taking several minutes of coughing and near tears to regain herself, leaning over the table. Oh god, she was hoping people would forget about that. Well, not that she was ashamed of it, but she didn't want to be forever known as 'That chick who kissed that one guy'. Auuugghh!

When she finally did gather herself up enough to be able to breathe, she looked up at him, her face starting to tinge with pink, frowning a bit.

"It was one kiss! One kiss isn't making out!" Cass started in her defense, pushing the bowl of fruit away from her for a bit. Her lungs were still burning from the near-death experience she'd just had with choking on it. "And we'd been cracking zombie-movie jokes, and we cracked one about making out before the zombies ate us... I didn't actually think that he'd want to make out right there and then or even actually at all!"

She was obviously very embarrassed by the fact the question had been asked, looking away from the older boy (Man? He didn't exactly seem 'MAN' to her. Probably because he was probably as mature as she was).

"I'm never going to live down the fact that the first time I was kissed was with an audience....." she grumbled, hand over her mouth.
PostPosted: Thu Jun 23, 2011 10:52 am

Bix turned red. Not because she choked but he was suddenly embarrassed because SHE was embarrassed. He would have been shocked about the 'first kiss' admission except for her whole thing about being raised in a van.

He did lean in though, talking softer and apparently a little more sympathetic now. "That was your first kiss? Well at least he was uh.." good looking? seemingly super cool? "..a nice guy. It could be worse. You could be like those Phoenixes and be known for the IMMEDIATE drama." Maybe he was n't such a bad guy. He was trying to steer away from the subject a little or at least make it bearable to talk about. He could be 'the friend guy'.

"But you know all the other girls, once you make a few girlfriends." He batted his lashes and pantomimed his version of a catty girl, "Ummigod Cass so who is that guuuuy are you totally going out or what?!" He even did a screechy girl voice.

"So you don't know him? I was starting to think I was the only person here who didn't bring family members or friends with them." He popped a few more grapes in his mouth. Enough where it stopped him talking for a second.

It probably wasn't a surprise she was a bit crazy after being raised a bit crazy. But ohhh, she was trying her damndest to not be some weirdo. She wanted to be normal! Like the other people! The...collective normal! Yeah! That's what she wanted.

"Yeah..I guess that's a good point. He kept a good eye on me too.." she paused, tugging one of her sleeves down over the bandages that had been wrapped around it. She was just patched up all over. Arm, both of her legs.. she'd definitely not been the best person to be out there on that beach with danger all around her. "I have a feeling things may have been a lot worse if we all hadn't been watching out for each other. I don't even think I had half a thought about throwing myself into any of the stuff that was going on out there."

Cass paused at the sudden catty-girl impression, face flushing an even deeper shade than it had been before, fumbling with her skirt, toes tapping together anxiously.

"i-I...I'm not 'going out' with anybody!" she denied it, though in all truth it was a correct statement; She really wasn't in any sort of 'committed' relationship. Not even with Marcus. Hurrr..Ma- NO! BAD CASS. BAD. NOT THE TIME TO SPACE OUT INTO LALA JOY LAND.

"I met him after we got off the Helicopter, man. Practically ran into him when the first bit of shooting started up. I.." she paused.. "don't think I know anybody who woke up." she said. It was only a partially true statement; what she didn't know was that two of the other woken hunters were Gammas as well.

"I was 'mpressed how weww emmmmeryone seemed to *swallow* come together out there." He was still stuffing his face with grapes. "I'm already desensitized to this crap though. Everytime something happens I am just going to assume it's not real. NOTHING they've done to us yet has been real." He made a bit of an annoyed face at that. It wasn't because he wanted to die a grizzly death but it was putting a trust issue on display. Would he ever trust the organization he had just joined? Would he turn into one of them?

Bix laughed when Cass defended herself. "I'm sure it'll be no time before everyone forgets that happened cause muscle-man and angry girl are fighting again.. or in love again or someone else made out. We are in co-ed dorms after all.." He wiggled his brows like a perv.

"It's 'cause nobody wants to die a horrible death. I'm pretty sure after the trials, everybody has at least someone they'd be willing to throw under the bus to save the masses." she sighed.

Cass stared at Bix blankly. 'Something else'... she was drawing a blank on just how deep the depths of drama she hadn't rubbed elbows with by not attending a public school were and she really couldn't imagine how bad it could get. Which may have been fortunate for her.

"I guess." She shrugged. "That and I'm sure there are more important things to think about who I macked on when." she sighed, popping another piece of fruit into her mouth, her eating habits fortunately more presentable than those of the older hunter. "Though I'm sure we'll figure out how paper-thin the walls are without too much problem soon enough."

She was sure that if her laughing and silliness escapades were loud, someone would let her know soon enough.
