"Uh, Obsidian? Kind of dark for your coat though isn't it?" asked Dark Ion.
Tide glanced down at his chest and the emerald dangling there. "Emerald?" he inquired. Both stallions didn't think they had it.
"Another hint?" asked Dark Tide.

Opal eyed the two. "You are telling me you have NEVER seen a stone that looks like me?" She huffed up a bit. "Well you two are clueless aren't you? Do a single one of those names even discribe me at all?" She mock pouted at them.

"Uh actually no we haven't seen a stone as pretty as you before." Dark Ion said. "In fact the only thing that comes close were those two bald eagles who hunted in our field one day. Very graceful birds but as far from a stone as you can get."
"I'll never forget the day they buzz bombed our heads while we were sleeping that day. I think all my hair stood on end and I jumped quite a ways into the air." Dark Tide remembered.
"Now that was funny. You know Tide it is probably a stone that is rather colorful. Have you heard of one?"
"Well jasper is pretty colorful. Is that part of your name?" Tide asked.
"Hmm she does seem to have an opalescent sheen to her doesn't she?"
'Yes she does, quite the little rainbow."

Opal stares at the two. "How could you have never seen a stone like me?" She pouted at them. The stone she was named after was quite well known. She huffed up a bit. "Fine since you two can't figure it out. My name is Opal."

'Really? well that makes sense, Ion you pretty much blundered onto the answer you twit." Tide shook his head and prayed for patience.
Ion ignored him. "That's a lovely name, I'm sorry if we flustered you, we didn't mean to. The truth is a stone could never compare to you because you are living and vital and very unstonelike."
Tide rolled his eyes and turned on the charm. 'He is right Opal, your vitality is incomparable and your name is intriguing. An opal must be a beautiful stone indeed to be your namesake."

Dark Ion smiled back and said, "We simply want your good company, the last mare I met was so territorial she almost took a chunk out of my butt." he said.
"Too bad she missed. Your but is rather large." chided Dark Tide.
Dark Ion glared at him.
"What you have Dad's sense of humor and Mom's butt." said Tide
Dark Ion turned back to Opal. "So where are you from? I have never seen you before."

Opal thought a moment. "I dunno! I was brought here and let loose. I kinda like it here. Though so far have only run others who are rather mean." She eyes the two. "You aren't mean are you?"

"Do we look like we could be mean? i almost got eaten by a mare... But no we are not mean. You could hang out with us for a while if you like." offered Ion.
"Ya, just give us a shout if you need anything, one or both of us will be right there." Dark Tide bowed deeply. "At your service m'lady."
"Who did you meet that was mean? Do you remember their names?" asked Ion. He hoped to avoid the grumpy horses in the future and to help protect Opal from their meaness.

Opal thought a moment. "Some mean mare who said she owned the field when I asked her to show me around. So I told her I wasn't aware the field had her name on it. I think she didn't like that reply." She smiled a bit. "And I met some male but he wasn't really talkative or all that nice." She eyed two. "I dunno you could just be being nice to get my comfortable and then bam push me off a cliff!"

"If I were that mean Tide would be long gone." Ion smiled at her.
"Hey!" Tide said offended. "Really Opal we are nice guys and we are too dense most of the time to be subtle about it." he laughed. "Personally I can't believe someone abandoned you. Hopefully you find a really good friend or a chosen soon to keep you company. It's not fun being alone and i have always had my brothers. Our youngest brother is still with our parents but he should be here by next moon."

Opal thinks a minute. "I'm alright by myself." She huffed up. "I'm quite capable of taking care of myself! I been doing it long enough. I'm not the type of girl who needs a hero." She grinned at the two. "Now what I do need is me a cute fella to call my own." She winked at the two.

"Eep", both fellas nearly fell over at her words. Tide for once couldn't find anything to say. Ion dropped his head to hide the shocked expression on his face. She was just letting it dangle there. he glanced at Tide, now how was he supposed to win her favor with loud mouth here?
Dark Tide looked back at Ion. How was he supposed to win when Ion was so comical. Hmm... what to do?
Both stallions blurted out at once, "I'm up for it!." They looked at Opal hopefully and glared at each other when they thought she wasn't looking.

Opal eyed the two then grinned. "Ohhh you are are you? So then boys how do you plan on woo'ing? I should like to see what you can come up with." She winked at the two of them. "And maybe I'll pick one of you to be my fella." She could already tell this was going to be plenty of fun.
