"I guess I just never practiced is all... although that's really just my fault. I was always so absorbed in reading and studying that I never really talked with anyone except my parents. And it was never casual chitchat with them. " I say as I constantly glance around myself.

You can see the barracks in view now.
"That's... just sad almost. Don't worry though, it comes naturally when you start fighting, you know as they say, battle breeds brothers, right? Well, sisters, in your case, but well.. I guess it gets the point across." he says. From his voice, you can tell that he himself is actually kind of unfamiliar with friendly conservastion himself.

From your tree, you can see the person that is in charge of unit formation. He is a gruff, grizzled looking person, who appears to be about 4-6 years older then you. His nickname is "Major Payne" , though he was actually a civilian that was conscripted when the Altarian Purge first happened. Rank in the militia was actually more of formality then anything else, as the only people who go by a rank are ex military personel, that retain their old rank before the Purge.

I can't help but smile and laugh at his comment. "Oh it comes FAR too easily to me when I start fighting." I say trying to stifle myself from giggling.

"OHMAHGOD!" I scream out as I jump away from the noise and turn around in midair to see who it is. I am visibly shaking and don't say anything, just staring at Lance and clutching my book to my chest.

Hermes looks at Carolyn. "Hey, you can keep everything you own! All thats happening is that you've been choosen to do some pretty daring stuff."
The two of you are now in front of the barracks. You see a grizzled looking person standing next to a tree.
Hermes points at him. "That's the guy you want to see. He'll be assigning you to your unit."

I glance up at Lance for a moment to answer him. "Yeah... they make me feel safe..." I then look at Hermes and nod happily at his answer before looking over at who he mentioned. Once again I just stand there looking at him, not really wanting to go to him myself.
