"It might be bad no remembering stuff but it's not like you haven't ever got drunk Chris..." What teenager hadn't gone out and got drunk illegally to have a good time and stick two fingers up at the law?
"Of course I wouldn't do it to spite you. How could you think that?" She looked hurt again. Was she really that bad? After all this reputation of hers had come about after Chris had broken up with her, not before. "You didn't want to know what had happened Chris, you would never have picked me over Zia and that is what it came down to." There she had said it. She knew full well how Chris had found out about the whole thing and there she had said it.
"No one can come between your friendship and maybe even if I hadn't been careful you would have heard the same thing at some point if it had happened or not. You know as well as I do how much Zia hates me and how much she adores you." Skye kept her voice reasonably calm while talking about the girl she hated with an absolute passion. "You would have never believed me with her whispering in your ear and that's just that. I couldn't fight to keep you Chris as she had picked for you." That was just that as it were.

Chris kept his mouth shut at her assumption about him getting drunk, part of him wondering how well she even knew him. He knew for a fact that she had never seen him drinking, much less drunk. In fact, no one has ever seen him take more than maybe a sip of wine at one of his parent's holiday parties.
No, he was too much of a goody goody to drink and he was reminded of his goody-two-shoes-ness every so often. He thought it was a little different from her view since he had absolutely no problem with the law, though. Had she never been with him when he yelled at people for littering and had gotten into fights because of it? Or maybe it just... faded from her memory, as pointless memories often did.
But now wasn't a time to start talking down to himself when Skye was already hitting his ego pretty hard.
He was about to correct her for her other comment, though, when she brought up Zia, and his mouth immediately closed again. He's known Zia for quite a few years. They'd had their rough patches but now she was like the overly protective sister he never had. She'd never done anything to make him feel as though he was worth crap in the time that they were actually friends, so of course he would trust her over anyone else.
"What do you want me to do?" he said flatly, his emotions already drained in their short encounter. He wasn't looking at her, but staring straight ahead into space. If he had done wrong by her, let Zia talk him into breaking up with her prematurely, hurt her as he'd felt hurt from her actions... what the hell could he do? "What do you want me to do?" he repeated, looking up and into her eyes this time and not speaking in a monotone as before. Begging, pleading, wanting her to give him a chance and forgive him if he had wronged her.
He wasn't sure what her intentions had been when she had come in to talk to him, but he sure felt like s**t just about now.

Skye just watched him, watched his body language and his facial expressions. She listened to the desperation in her voice and part of her just wanted to hug him, to curl up with him like they use to but she knew it wouldn't happen.
"I just want you to forgive me for whatever did or didn't happen." Her voice was matching his now with the emotion behind it. She sounded defeated. "I just wanted you to know the truth at last Chris. I lost you a long time ago and as you said you are seeing someone else... I just miss you so much and I couldn't let it go without you knowing the truth any longer." She looked at the table as she spoke. She just wanted to make sure that they could just move on properly. She wasn't sure that it would make a difference, she was almost certain that Chris wanted nothing more to do with her even after this in fact even more since this but she had to try right?
"I'm sorry. I will leave you to it... just don't let Zia ruin all your relationships just because she doesn't like your girlfriend." She let out a soft sigh and went to stand up and leave. She had done more damage then she meant to... in fact it had gone really bad.

He felt bad. He felt as though he'd screwed up all over again, even though it had been a couple years since then. Chris didn't regret seeing Skye again, but it brought up so many old emotions, as well as the hurt that came with it.
Chris didn't say anything at first. He didn't know what to say at first. What was there to say, anyway? But he did know that he didn't want this to be the end of whatever they might have had if things had just... broken off without all the drama it had involved.
He smiled a bit sadly when she offered her advice about Zia. He knew his best friend was over protective and tended to think she knew what was best for him, even if it wasn't. He would have to ask her about what had really happened sometime. Had he been lied to? Or at least not given the whole story? He felt horrible and wanted to know what was the real truth.
"Wait," he said when she moved to leave, standing as well. He hesitated for a moment, trying to offer her a smile of comfort, although it might not help that he probably looked rather miserable. "Is your number still the same...? I wouldn't mind hanging out some time... if you still wanted, I mean..."

Skye was shocked to say the least when Chris told her to stop and then asked about her number. Was he being serious?
"You still have my number?" She had to ask at least to begin with just because it was the last thing she had expected. In fact it would have been more then likely for him to have deleted it.
"Yes it's still the same number..... I would love to hang out again" Though she was well aware it would be awkward but maybe it would be good to start again and start fresh? She could hope so... it would be hard though. There were feelings for Chris that she had buried but not extinguished. She would try though, she would love so much to have him back in her life.
"If you are sure..."

Chris stared back at her, giving her a little nod to let her know that, yes, he did have her number still. Maybe he was a masochist, keeping the number after all this time, but he didn't think it was particularly a bad thing. Zia had wanted him to get rid of it, of course, but he couldn't do it and disguised the name as one of his baby cousins' name instead. Was that weird? Probably, but he was kind of a weird person, anyway.
"Of course I'm sure," he said, smiling a little at the apparent surprise in her voice. "I already told you I didn't hate you... and I do forgive you..." Now was only a matter of her forgiving him for everything he'd done. But for now, he could at least try to be friends with her again.
"You look good, by the way..." he said with a small shrug, knowing it wasn't anything big, but at least she knew he still cared enough to look, right...? Maybe...?

She couldn't help but smile, it was a good end to an overly emotional conversation. She was happy though, really happy.
"Thank you and I would love it if you called some time..." She thought she would just say that again to make sure that he knew she would like it. She shifted her bag about not really knowing what to say, he thought she looked good? Meh it probably meant nothing.
"I will see you about then Chris..." If he still wanted to see her of course? She was well aware he might not want to or he might change his mind in fact he probably would. She would see but she would also hope.
