Um... so since it's question and answer time, I was wondering. Are things from Dragon Magazine/Dragon Compendium fair game for classes? I am really excited about the Battledancer and Jester, and wanted to give them a try.

Well, I certainly wouldn't be opposed to covering the vore role. Do you know how you plan to incorporate it rules-wise?

I think I'd have to pass on the furry part, but slimegirl could also be interesting as some sort of an alternate form. Although I don't know how much my character would end up gaining and how much she'd just teasingly inflate the gainers. Same thing, though, where I'm not sure how you're planning to implement it.

Fuzzy actually mapped out some feat-based rules coverin WG and vore.

Dragon Magazine has some really bizarre and out-there stuff, so I'll allow it by clearance only? Battledancer and Jester are both cleared. In general, also, citing references is worth bonus points.

Okay, I didn't realize we were using Fuzzy's rules. Hmmm... I'm not sure if I'll have enough feats... Can we take flaws from Unearthed Arcana in order to get another feat?

Understandable. I am going to hold out on picking my actual class once people figure out theirs. I am cool with filling out the last role, I just need to know what people are thinking about doing.

I am a born arcane spellcaster. What is the point of leveling up if you don't get new spells? =o

So, yeah, I intend to play a feeder wizard.

*casts Raise Dead on the Thread*

Sorry to make the thread gain a negative level, but True Resurrection is a long ways off.

I figured a little more discussion may move things along a bit further, hopefully to the point of being able to get the game up and running.

Since Mage and Fighter is taken, I think I'm going to go healer. Either Cleric or Favored Soul, so we can get some healy goodness in here, and make it so we don't die.

Couple questions though that I wanted to clarify before I get down and dirty with chargen.

1.) Are Reserve Feats from Complete Mage (Page 36) fair game? I thought it might be a good idea so I can have some attack flexibility.

2.) Is there a particular setting we are looking at to play in, like Forgotten Realms, et al?

3.) Should we start with the gold listed for a 4th level character in the DMG?

4.) When are we thinking of kicking things off?

A SECOND RAISE DEAD!

Unearthed Arcana flaws are A-OK, but no more than two will be allowed.

1.) Reserve feats are fine, obviously. I rather like them in general.

2.) I think that by necessity the game is a little more lighthearted than Faerun or Eberron, and I want to accomodate as many player ideas as possible, so let's consider it a homebrew world matching the high-fantasy "dungeonpunk" mystique. Humans will be the most populous race, and other things like elves and dwarves will likely be considered exotic and mystical by the majority of NPCs. You will find that having farmhands marvel at your pointy ears gets old, and fast.

3.) Yes.

4.) In the next week or so? Let's try to be ready by Friday!

Yay for more raising of dead!

I can most certainly be ready and have a character sheet/background posted by next Friday. I'm going to play a voracious astral deva, as long as you're fine with her being neutral instead of good so that she can take Fuzzy's vore feats.

I won't really be able to start posting on a daily basis until that Sunday, though. I'm going to be unavailable from Thursday morning until Sunday afternoon. But feel free to get a starting post put up and I'll reply as soon as I get a chance.

Edit: Also, does anybody know if Nowhere Man is still interested? It's been a while since he last posted and he hasn't responded to the PM I sent him a couple of weeks ago.

So, sorry to double post, but here's my character background. It probably just increased the size of this page like whoa:

In spite of being a Celestial, Alana is hardly what one would expect to find upon meeting a member of the divine realm. But then again, it is because she is so different that she can even be found in the material plane in the first place. The deva hails from a sect of angels whose sole duty is to protect the divine realms against incursions by devils, demons, and other evil creatures. A capable fighter, Alana quickly earned promotions for her thorough, almost brutal, responses to such invasions. Little by little, the attacks began to slow until they were incredibly rare.

That was when she devised her plan to stop such attacks altogether. By destroying the means their enemies had of leaving the lower realms, she reasoned, such attacks would cease entirely as their foes were trapped within their own plane. But when she presented the plan it was wholly vetoed by her superiors, who asserted that she had no idea what such an offensive would entail. The lower realms were a dark place and nobody knew what dwelt there. Attempting such an attack would effectively be suicide.

Still, Alana was convinced that she could make it succeed. She secretly gathered a group of trusted allies to join her in an initial raid meant to test the viability of her plan. The attack was a success, as they were able to slip through a portal, kill a number of demons, and return before any defense could begin to manifest.

A second raid was scheduled; this one intended to inflict even more damage than the first. But the moment Alana’s forces stepped through the portal they knew they had made a mistake. As though the attack had been anticipated, they were surrounded by monstrous demonic creatures more powerful than any that had ever crossed into the Celestial realms. Before she could even sound a retreat, a snakelike creature lunged at her, sinking its fangs into her stomach. Although she quickly beheaded it with her sword, Alana could already feel poison seeping into her body. By then most of her force had already been slain, and the rest were already been fleeing back through the portal. She ran after them, barely making it back into the Celestial realm before collapsing to the poison.

When she finally awoke she was initially thrilled to have even survived, although she soon realized that things were only going to get worse. The poison had devastated her divine powers and physiology, reducing her size and strength as well as negating much of her magic. To add to that, Alana’s superiors held her personally responsible for the deaths of all those who had perished in the failed attack, saying her headstrong disregard for orders was a liability to all those around her. As punishment she was exiled to the material plane.

Initially this seemed to Alana to be the worst fate possible. Her entire purpose had been erased in one simple declaration. And although she did not need to eat to survive, she was used to dining on ambrosia and other heavenly foodstuffs which provided her with a certain sense of renewal. Mortal food seemed only hollow and empty in contrast, never making her feel satisfied no matter how much she glutted herself. Soon she was filled with an aching emptiness inside and no means to fulfill it.
Yet by some measure of luck, whether divine or hellish, the poison still in her blood afforded a solution. During her first few weeks in the material plane it continued to inflict changes on her body. Her teeth elongated and sharpened into weapon-like fangs while she could feel her organs shift and rearranged inside her body. And then her hunger became darker and more predatory. Once that last change had been made, Alana knew there was only one alternative to the divine food on which she used to dine: the flesh of the foes she once used to hunt.

Realizing that her dark gifts granted her a means to survive on the material plane, she set out to vanquish evil in her new, and hopefully only temporary, home. With a mind for combat Alana taught herself to supplement thrusts of her sword with penetrating bites with her fangs. But sometimes her hunger intensifies into a near bloodlust, only abating when her enemies have been fully devoured. Still, she views it only as a new weapon to wield, not thinking about to what it may lead…

Uh... *Fumbles for diamonds worth at least 5,000 GP*

Okay, so obviously, it's really difficult for me to remember to check Gaia when I get out of the habit. And this is really the only thing on Gaia I'm interested in doing, so if we're EVER going to make this happen, it's got to come together rapidly. Make sense?

My apologies for dangling the carrot and then vanishing so many times in the past. Can we get a quick role call to see who's in place?

In about a week my grad school studies end for the summer and I'm going to be positively bored. I'd be excited to have some D&D happening on the side, especially if it's a weightgain oriented one.

Ziti, that's awfully fine. Do you intend to run with the Deva progression from Savage Species?

I'm going to overhaul our WG house rules a little (tweak it and add it) over the course of this week. I'll also produce a little homebrew world background. Don't worry, I'll keep it to moderately light reading. I know it can be a drag when a DM textwalls you with a bunch of information you don't really want or need.

So, I only happened to check in on this a month late. If you happen to check again and see my post despite so much time passing then send me an e-mail at zeusthunder13@yahoo.com. I'm much more likely to see that e-mail than I am to check back here, but that'll let me know I need to. I can also get ahold of Snowpocalypse if things start rolling again.

And yeah, I do believe I was planning on the Savage Species progression.

BABOOM. Look at that. I stopped checking back here, but thought to today. The stars may finally be right for this nonsense.

I'll email ya.

So, based upon my preliminary player summons Snowpocalypse is definitely in and Fuzzy is definitely out. I'm not sure how to get in touch with Nowhere Man.

At the moment that puts us at a definite 2/4 players. I have somebody else I checked with to see if they were interested and there's another couple of people I might try asking if we need more.
