"Is that what they're called? Not much about them back home..." Anahita said simply. She swished her tail sending a shallow wave of water in Patchems direction. She has a mate...? she thought to herself. "We played tag too... but it probably was different, since it was reefs and atolls," she snickered.
She relaxed onto her back. "It'd be nice to have rain..." Ana stared up at the passing clouds in the azure sky. There was a calm wind rustled the leaves in the surrounding forest, yet it wasn't enough to ease the heat.

"I bet I don't think I could play tag with you. I can't swim for long or hold my breath for long either." She points out as she continues to swim in the water. Looking at the sky "Yes Rain would be nice." she watches her new and only water friend. "I have never talked to a Mer before Miss Anahita. So this is nice. Like I made a new friend."

Anahita thought of it, "Maybe.... tag isn't such a good idea after all..." She looked dejected.
Swimming over to Patchems she looked up at her, "Well, I can safely say that you're my first land-walking Soq," she laughed. Ana sighed, "Would be alright if we were friends? Considering the obvious differences?" she smiled; hopefully.

Patchems thinks a bit as she looks at Anahita. "Maybe we could find a ball and play catch. That might work." She wonders a bit as she looks at about. "Now to find something that would work as a ball." She knew that she uses cabbages as balls sometimes.

"A ball...?" Ana thought for a second. "Hmm," she paused a moment, "Would an algae ball work?" She looked at Patchems expectantly.
"Hang on, I'll go get it," she smiled and immediately submerged herself. Returning only a few seconds later revealing a moss green colored ball underneath her right foreleg. It was about a foot and a half in diameter and seemed to be light enough to float on its own. Anahita pushed it over to Patchems to see about approval.

Patchems thinks on it. "Hmm an algae ball will work well." Once Anahita returned Patchems takes the ball and tosses it up and down in her mouth a bit. then tosses it back to Anahita. "That will work great. It stays together which is a plus.." She points out.

"Wonderful!" she exclaimed.
Ana received the ball and headbutted it back to Patchems. It had been a long time since she got to play with anyone and she was going to enjoy this for as long as she could. "Head's up!" she warned as the ball made a beeline for her new-found friend.

Rearing up Patchems catches the ball with her teeth then lands and moves her head about to see how light or heavy the ball is. Putting the ball down on the surface of the water seeing it float. "This will work wonders. Okay I am going to toss it out as far as I can."
She picks the ball up again with her teeth. Then tosses her head letting the ball go once it swings in the area her head was moving. She watches it. "And there it goes." She hope her new found friend is a fast swimmer.

Ana's eyes grew large as she sized the height of the volley. Wow, she thought, "I got it!" she dove under the water breaching the surface ever so often. She thought it may have even surpassed Patchems intentions; but far it went.
As the ball came down Ana tried to time it as best she could. She jumped free of the lake and overshot her objective. The ball came down as did Ana. She back-flipped and landed with a huge splash. Anahita emerged with mane full in her face. There, before her bobbled the algae orb. She batted it with her tail. Flicked it on her broad fin and volleyed it back to her new-found friend.

Watching Anahita for a bit and then sees the ball of algae coming her way. Patchems then turns and times it right bucking it back out to Anahita. After all this is a game Patchems is good at though her mate beats her in tag and is happy she isn't playing tag in the water or her new friend would beat her as well. She is one of those likes to be in charge types so this is the best game for now.
She watches the ball of algae head back to Anahita. "Heads up."

Ana sighed as she watched the ball make a similar arc over the lake, but obliged, "GOT IT!" This time she made sure she recovered from the last. She attempted for this beautiful back-flip that would launch it straight toward Patchems. She managed the back-flip again, but when she came up to look for the ball it hit her in the head. She recovered quickly and bounced it for a while. Ana popped it high and swatted it back to the shoals. She was going to get used to this land-water relationship thing come hell or high water. She was only used to this as water polo, so this was still fairly new to her.
"Look out!" Ana shouted happily.

Patchems seeing the ball coming at her as she turns to buck it back but misses it as it lands on the water surface next to her seeing she is standing in five inches of water. She giggles. "Well my aim was off." She bites the ball and brings it up then toss it up as she rears and kicks the ball back out to Ana with her front hooves.

Ana giggled, "Seems I'm not the only one rusty!" she exclaimed back to her friend. As the ball landed short of her is continued to float in her direction. She pawed it with her tail, flicking it up on her fluke once again. Ana balanced it there for a moment and served it back.
She happened to glance up and noticed the sun had dropped considerably. It had come to caress the canopy of the forest and the coolness of the trees began to creep into the clearing.

Patchems rears as she catches the ball in her mouth. Then lets it drop into the water as she looks back at the sun. "Looks like night is coming close." She is having a lot of fun so she doesn't want this game to play. After all. She loves games.
"Shall we continue or shall we set another date to continue playing?" She wonders.

Ana frowned at the thought of having to quit for the night. She began feeling guilty that she had kept her new friend for so long. With a heavy sigh she swam over to Patchems. "I don't know..."
Ana bit her lip and stared back up at the forest canopy, "I guess if you have things to do, we should pick this up some other time." She watched Patchems forlornly.
