Nathan Darrow was not out doing anything. His usual plan for the day, when he could get away with it. No, he was just wandering along with his hands in his pockets, looking for some trouble.
So far, he had bullied a younger school kid out of his money. Lunch money, maybe, but that was a bit too classic school yard bully for his tastes. Still, it had been a nice diversion and gave him something to do.
He found civilian life was almost boring, when compared to what he could do, and did, as a senshi. He could get what he wanted, fight whenever he felt like it, and actually do some good. All of those things, though they never quite balanced, made him wish he could spend more time powered up than not.
His ears perked when he heard a scream. Perfect.
Running toward the sound, he spotted what appeared to be a senshi getting chased by... duct tape girl. It seemed, though, that the Nega had upgraded from his girl looking previous stage. Whatever: Chaonis wasn't scared of a Captain.
Ducking behind a wall, he powered up and ran toward the battle immediately. His senses tingled, danger and dark energy in the air, but that just made him thrive and he didn't focus on it.
In fact, he didn't waste any time focusing on anything at all. He ran at Ilmenite, fist drawn back, fully intent on attacking without even saying hello. Rude, but effective.

Ilmenite had let Lyra stumble a few feet away when Chaonis rounded the corner again -- which at least put the corrupt out of his reach, perhaps, put Ilmenite into his path before the girl. For just a moment, he stood blinking at the senshi, like he couldn't quite believe his luck.
Whether it was good luck or bad luck was yet to be seen.
"...s**t." He really wasn't much for one-on-one, or hand-to-hand. As his sense clicked back in, Ilmenite darted after Lyra instead, summoning his weapon with a rolling gesture of one hand and tossing it. If he'd gotten it off a few seconds sooner, he might have managed to tangle up Chaonis's ankles and prevent his inevitabele approach. As it was, the senshi was too close: it clipped his knee and kept going sideways.
"Ammolite!" It wasn't quiet a yelp. It was definitely a request for some kind of help.

The blood that dripped from Lyra's stocking was matched by a shimmering, sparkling bit of color that came tumbling from the dust. In all of the chaos, perhaps someones foot had kicked it up out of the dirt. Perhaps it was something more. Regardless of exactly what had caused it to go tumbling across the ground, a small red crystal rolled to a stop at the corrupted senshi's feet. (Lil has been awarded the Blood Red Crystal for Lyra in recognition of activity and going above and beyond as both a staff artist and fanartist! Thanks for all of your time and hard work, Lil. <3 The shop is lucky to have you!)

If she was to reflect back on this day... she would call herself a klutz, but a lucky one at that. Maybe?
She was running before she wheeled around, hearing Ever make some sort of noise... a senshi clearly making their way for them. Ilmenite looked startled, even trying to toss his own weapon at the man..it bounced off the other male like it was just a toy. Her eyes glanced into the captains for a split second, it was all happening so quickly... so wrongly. Was she even ready for this? Was this... not such a good idea after all? Involuntarily, the senshi took a step backwards. She nearly tripped over something else, something that made a scriiiiiccchhh noise on the pavement as a heeled foot pushed it softly to the side.
Green eyes flicked down- and something caught her attention as it glittered in the sun light. The world seemed to go in slow motion... Ilmenite calling for her, the male senshi nearly upon them... the red crystal calling her. WHich to prioritize.... Bending down, she could not resist the blood red that called to her and clasped the object in her right palm, feeling better now that it was 'safe' in her care.
The world suddenly sped up to full speed, and she found herself running towards her comrade, not that Chaonis would know that they were team mates..yet. Instinct was claiming her as she clasped the white haired males shoulder and called "Nebula guard!"
Her voice was low enough to where it did not even Echo on the buildings around them... but if Chaonis kept going on his current path, he would find himself smacking into a colorful shield that now surrounded the two negaversers.

The Super Senshi of Danger was far too distracted by his running tackle to notice the crystal or its new owner, which was probably a good thing. He would have to start wondering if he was some kind of magnet for them, if he had spotted it.
Instead, he was too busy cursing about whatever stupid new weapon (which he now hated) Ilmenite had thrown at him. It had hit his knee and made him wobble, throwing off his path slightly but he thought he could, for sure, reach the Nega Captain.
Then he felt it. The incredible power signature he had stupidly missed, or somehow failed to notice. He had time for one more step, everything seeming to slow down, as he turned his head toward the new voice that reached his ears. Presumably the person Ilmenite had called for. Ammolite.
His eyes narrowed. A corrupt Senshi.
She reached Ilmenite a step before he did, and suddenly he was met by a strong shield that stopped him in his tracks. And did not feel good. "********!" he yelled, pulling himself backwards and stumbling, completely thrown off his game by the sudden tag time, as well as the strength of the shield.

As Chaonis approached, Ilmenite flinched -- his confidence in the field not as strong as Lyra's, perhaps. Both hands came up to protect himself, just in case the senshi got through. He'd defend and then work toward fighting back. Not the best plan, but perhaps...
It didn't matter. The shield went up and the sound of collision made Ilmenite draw in a deep breath, lifting his head and opening eyes he hadn't even meant to close. He turned a thoughtful stare on Chaonis, high points of nervous color on his cheeks, and spoke to Lyra without turning in place.
"You said you've used this before...how long does it last, again?" His voice was low, but the other man could probably pick up on it anyway. And on the answer. Not great for either of them.

"...Uhm." She strained out, keeping her body stiff. She could move around inside the shield, so she moved around to get a look at Chaonis better. "...I have no idea. I haven't ever tested it to its limits." She could feel her power levels lowering, the shield taking quite a bit of power to even keep it up. "Last time it was up for around 30 seconds... it drains quite a lot to keep it up for long." She also needed to concentrate, unsure if she stopped if the shield would have flaws.
She did not even want to think how drained she would be if she kept it up to its full potential.
"...So... Uhm." She was not even sure what would happen if Ilmenite even TOUCHED it.

Chaonis did not look happy. He never liked taking hits. There was a difference between brawling and getting punched when he could land one in return: that was fine. That was acceptable. But being stopped? Being made useless? That was not going to fly. No one was going to beat him so easily.
Despite the fact that she was clearly much more powerful than he was.
"I'll test it for you!" He yelled, furious, both fists clenched tightly as he called on his magic. "WARNING! EARTHQUAKE ZONE!"
Chaonis only had a few buttons, and losing a fight, or feeling the fear of it, was very much one of them. He was feeling that now, under the weight of the auras dripping off the Negaverse Captain and the Corrupted Eternal Senshi. The back of his mind told him to run. That this was stupid: he would never win. Unfortunately, his instincts did not react correctly, like his wires were switched. His mind told him to run, adrenaline and fear coursing through him, and his body responded with the need to fight harder.
His magic granted him a boost of power in his punches, and he focused all his energy into it now. He charged the barrier, knowing it hurt, knowing it was powerful and it was not going to work out in his favor, but not caring about any of that.
All he wanted to do was break through, and he swung before he met the barrier again.

The smart move, naturally, would be for Ilmenite and Lyra to run. They'd served their purpose at this point: their goal had been to test out the senshi's shield, and they had certainly tested it. All they had to do was stand there until it wore off and teleport out before Chaonis could actually get to them.
All they had to do was to passively wait it out and they'd have the information they'd been hunting. There was no need to do any more than that. And yet...and yet Ilmenite took a step forward at that, up against the boundary of the shield to meet Chaonis's eyes and flip him the bird. He didn't keep a careful distance in case the shield went down: he just grinned, his expression bright with the prospect of a fight.
Cocky. Self-confident, and probably without good cause. He didn't like Chaonis, and his only goal was to push his buttons.

When the fist hit the shield, the power inside of that punch was fizzled out. To Chaonis, it wopuld feel like the shield was literally SUCKING that energy out and into itself. The particles were eating the energy, hungry and wanting more...
Though... one thing the senshi would have noticed, while uncomfortable and painful from the heat... his fist would slowly begin to move through the few inch thick shield.
Lyra inside, felt the power go through the shield. It caused her to wince, the shield feeling a bit like a extension of her body... It was all mental, but all the less draining. "...Ilmenite." She walked closer, shaking a little she placed a hand on his shoulder. "...Its best not to...taunt him when he is..."
She broke off, noticing that his hand was moving inside the shield. Oh crap.

Taunting the enraged Senshi of Danger was not a good idea, Lyra was right. He might not have been as powerful as she was, or as physically strong as the Negaverse Captain was, but he was still a man determined and full of will.
As long as he had fight in his body, he was going to be swinging and punching.
Buttons pushed, Chaonis let out a furious yell and swung his other fist at the sheild. He didn't care how much it burned or how bad it felt, he was going to break the damn thing or go down trying. Just to get to Ilmenite first, and break his middle finger clean off.
Damn it.
"BLOCK THIS!"
He released the energy he had built up in the short time he had called his attack. His rage certainly helped, but it was not as powerful as it might have been if he had been able to actually hit them while this revved up. Still, the resulting earth quake that came with the end of his attack was enough to rattle the area around them, and split the ground at Chaonis' feet, moving toward the two and the barrier in a large crack. He was weakened from the barrier eating his energy and from using his attack so rashly, but he was too angry to care.

Ilmenite should have looked apologetic, and should have worried, but -- well, adrenaline, the excitement of actually feeling in control of things for the moment, even if it was an unfounded feeling. He tipped his head to watch the start of that crack, wobbling and swaying and feet not quite going out from under him as he twisted back around to face the senshi.
"I think we can consider it tested." He gestured, briefly, a shooing gesture, and then lost his footing, dropping gracelessly to a knee and scraping up one palm. The power of that attack was getting too close for them to argue about this anymore, and he considered just zapping out but --
"...home. Go home, I'll meet you there." Couldn't leave her alone there. Nevermind that she seemed to do better than him in these things. He'd wait until she teleported out to follow.

Home. He said 'go home'.
An order.
He was a superior officer.... she should take that order and roll with it. That was her job, her station. The lesser rank listened to the higher. But still, she couldn't help but hesitate. She followed the book normally... she did what told. But deep in the pit of her stomach, she did not want to leave him here. The shield was failing.
If Chaonis managed to get within the shield... he would for certain go for Ilmenite. They were both focused on each other... and her white haired comrade seemed all too willing to let the blood spill between them. They must have a history...
Mid thought, still struggling, it happened. She felt the mental strain stop as the shield broke. It did not shatter, just floated all around like colorful confetti was tossed. The weight of the energy used hit her full force... but she was not thinking. The senshi was now within feet of them....
"Forgive me." She said quickly, not thinking... just reacting on instinct. Her protective nature would not allow the captain to stay behind. Lifting a hand, she clamped it on his shoulder and teleported the both of them out of the fight.

Chaonis's eyes narrowed, absolutely focused, as the shield shattered. He had a chance, and he was not going to waste it. He wasn't paying attention to their orders and talking, or anything else. He had a task at hand of his own.
Smash Ilmenite's face in.
He charged and swung, but his fist was only met with air. The two had gone, teleported, and he was left panting, struggling to keep his balance, feeling woozy and very well drained. If he had kept fighting, exposed to that energy or lost in his rage, he would have been in more trouble than he knew.
But it didn't occur to him. All he felt now was a rush of fury, at being abandoned mid-fight, at not being able to get any kind of payback. he hadn't even managed to land one good hit. What kind of a fight was that? Hiding behind barriers, provided by senshi they stole. He hated Ilmenite. He hated the Negaverse.
He punched the nearest wall, cracking it and sending a sharp jolt of pain straight up his arm. He powered down once he was sure they were gone from the area, feeling like he just couldn't keep it up any more anyway. It was going to be a long walk home.
