(( Eylios, I'm calling you and making up half the conversation. Hope you don't mind. :3 ))
Hoisting his backpack over one shoulder, Martin got his cell phone out of his jeans' pocket. He deftly flipped it open, only using one hand, and hit the speed dial for his sister's number.
"I don't think she’s busy right now, so she should pick up..." The phone rang a suspiciously long time before she answered.
"Hey, it's me. ... I'm fine. You? ... Yeah, so did you want to get something to eat? ... Oh? ... Oh, that's just down the way, isn't it. ... I'll meet you there in a few. You can tell me more there. ... Bye."
Martin snapped the phone shut. "A cold war spy..? She has the weirdest dreams," he thought, shaking his head. They had always been weird dreams, ever since they were little. They were about -
He paused part way through putting his phone back. "What were they about?" He racked his brain for a moment, but came up blank. "Maybe I'll ask her about them later," he thought, shrugging off his mind-blank.
He finished pocketing his phone, and then put his backpack on the all the way. He had a few blocks to walk; didn't want to strain a shoulder at all.
---
A short while later, Martin entered the bar his sister told him about. It didn't look like much from the outside, but when he opened the doors it looked cosy enough, with plenty of people inside. None of them appeared to be his sister, though.
"Better wait for her at the bar, where she can see me right away."
He went up to a bar seat and took off his backpack before pulling himself onto it. He kept himself turned slightly towards the door, attempting to ignore the solicitations of the bartenders until his sister got there. He wasn't going to start drinking unless she was there.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx You sure know how to show up a lady! Finishing the stew Gretel took a small sip to check for seasoning, and after adding a pinch more pepper she switched the hob off and set it aside for later. The heat was getting to her, she wasn't the sprightly young person she used to be and it was just too warm for her to think. She washed her hands to try and get rid of the garlic smell, though as usual, it stayed without budging... Such are the sacrifices of cooking... Staring at the pouring water, Gretel splashed some onto her face, trying to shake out the stuffy feeling that was filling the air, though it failed. sighing, she made her way back to her chair " Damn weather, at least prison had air-con... Huh, ironic I should be less comfortable in my own home than that cell, suppose I'll just have to get used to life again... Getting used to life, at my age... They should have just kept me locked up..." She moaned putting her feet up and switching on the TV to the news. The world had changed from how she knew it; cyber terrorism, global warming, fossil fuel crisis, children losing any hope of a future. Gretel didn't care anyway, she was too old to start worrying about the future. Her eyes drifted watching the headlines flash past, slowly the pictures went blank and all that was left was the dull drone of the anchors voice floating into her ears and going on and on and on about health insurance or something that she didn't care less for... A breeze hit her, slowly building into a wind, a dusty wind... Gretel's eyes, her dark green black eyes, shot open into the barren bone covered desert of a world. Her body followed suit, shimmering like a mirage, like heat waves taking form before solidifying around those piercing dark eyes that seemed much more solid than her skin, though that too became more tangible after a time. Strangely the wind around her didn't cause her hair to flow, it's black length stayed neatly in place flowing down past her smooth white young skin, as did the oil coloured iridescent feathers that made up her long cape like mantle. Her torso was armoured with a matte black almost liquid like substance, which on closer inspection appeared to be non newtonian, which was flowing over her breasts, hips and stomach with a delicate ease. On top of that she appeared to be wearing somewhat more traditional armour, a green tinted metallic bodice. Her left arm had a sort of cable coiled around it with a small purple woven grip hanging by her shoulder, conversely, both her legs and her feet were bare allowing the grit and sand to mix between her toes. " Hmm, here again..." Gretel said wiggling her toes in the dry baked earth. She'd been here many a time since her release, this same dream where she became her younger self and was told she was a knight here to protect the realm. Ridiculous! Her? A knight there to protect? She didn't give much thought to the apparent ideals of the setting. " Arik!" Gretel roared towards the empty plane. for a few seconds nothing happened, then there was an uneasy feeling, a feeling of sickness and plague in the air. Then it began, the bones that littered the surrounding area started to move, skeletons dragging themselves across the cracked ground to line up behind another, the skull placing its self inside the rib cage of the former. From the end of the now long bleached chain of remains the ground opened, muscle tissue and large beating organs ripped up from the crevice and started to fill in the frame, the crack in the earth lengthened underneath the skeletal structure as more muscles shot from underneath. As the mass started to take form, more bones were lining up at the front to form two large arms which were promptly covered in the same form as the rest of the body. the form was obviously some sort of beast, though the head and skin were still absent... " Well, you certainly know how to make an entrance don't you..." Gretel said at the mammoth serpentine body that stretched around the plane. As she spoke, purple and orange scaled skin started to wrap over the creature, working its way quickly to the still absent head. As it reached the creatures arms the ground cracked open violently to reveal a massive fanged skull which lifted from the now sealing crevice and attached onto the neck of the beast with a spine shivering hiss before quickly being covered in much the same manner as the rest of the body... Arik had arrived. Although the process seemed like it should have taken a few minutes to complete, apparently only a mere 30 seconds or so had passed, such was the warped time of this land. " Timesss are changing... Thisss land isss no longer a place for you to carry out your fantasssiessss. There isss a wind blowing, a wind with a feeling much more maliciousss than your own. Come, we have sssome SSSLAUGHTERING to do!!!" The beast said in strained words from his long forked tongue as the skin twitched and finally aligned its self over its face. Arik was Gretel's totem, familiar or whatever she was told he was, and she knew to listen to him when he was serious, he knew more about this world than she ever would. Gretel just laughed, her light chuckle growing into a maniacal cackle as she walked over and placed a hand on Ariks arm, he was a good 10 feet taller than her when he was reared up. Gretel and Arik started to shimmer out in a reverse of how Gretel appeared into the world, leaving nothing but Gretel's eyes behind, which stayed for a second before slamming shut and disappearing into the air... ☪

There was screaming. And laughter.
A boy, a young scrawny boy, teetered on the edge of the dark and jagged brink. Fear contorted the boy's face. He wavered there, on the edge, hovering between trying to escape down a faint path or falling into darkness. But down the path lay the shadow. Nothing there was quite visible, but menace was palpable. An unnamed Enemy lurked there as surely as the earth crumbled below the boy's feet. To go to meet it meant certain death. There was no getting past it. There was no escape. The shadow crept nearer.
The boy screamed again, pleading for help, but none came. He turned and looked over his shoulder, at the endless drop behind him, and turned again to face the shadow before him. His eyes were wide and rimmed with tears, his hands clutched at nothing, his feet shambled about restlessly as if they might start running of their own accord.
The shadow crept nearer still, and the threat was heavy like a thundercloud, waiting to strike. The boy let out a slow, long wail. He waved his arms in front of him, to ward off the shadow, but it kept on. It was the end. The shadow was nearly on him. He had no where else to go. He shuffled again, and this time placed a foot too close to the edge. The earth disintegrated under his new footing, and he lost his balance. He swung his arms madly, and screamed hoarsely. He teetered, and fell.
The shadow erupted in evil, maniacal laughter. A bizarre form emerged, a pale body with strange, stumpy feet, long thin arms with large clawlike hands, and a distorted and mangled-looking doglike head. A long muzzle was filled to overflowing with large, jagged teeth. Beady, pinprick black eyes gleefully watched the boy's plunge. He was still screaming, his body twisting and turning as he fell.
But then the Nightmare went rigid, and its laughter turned to a muttered chuckling, but did not stop. The boy disappeared in this moment of distraction; he had awakened, and fled the world of Etherea. But the Nightmare did not notice, or did not care. Its stared into the distance for a moment, and then suddenly loud laughter resumed. Its master had called. Swiftly it hefted a large, vicious-looking staff and began to lope away from the hilltop precipice, the grating noise of its cackling echoing strangely, and never ceasing.
After a while, or not any time at all, it arrived at its master's throne. It grinned hugely with its mouth full of ugly, large teeth, and bowed with a low chuckle. "Master, thou hast summoned me. What is thy wish?" Its voice was harsh, dark, and completely inhuman, as if the unknown depths of the most horrible pit were given words and unending, malevolent mirth.

☪xxxxxxxxxx songxxxxxxxxxx☪xxxxxxxxxx earthTivoli excused herself from the man as she retreated a little ways down to clear some drinks and pick up the tip of a couple who left. As she was wiping down the counters, she did not fail to notice Angel slipping back behind the bar. He looked a little sleepy. Tiv quickly finished cleaning the well-worn wood before sliding over to Angel and the pretty girl he was flirting with. "... let me know what you think of him," she told the woman with a smile as she approached, "He gives pretty good service." The woman just stared at Tivoli for a moment before her face seemed to sour as she registered the innuendo. Chuckling, Tivoli lightly smacked Angel on the butt as she passed him with a rather flirty wink. "... and don't think I didn't see you sneak in here, Ang. No sleeping on the job!" she admonished. She reached the far side of the bar, pulling down a glass in order to pour herself some water. Reaching into her jacket pocket, she pulled out a little green bottle filled with white pills. Excedrin... excellent for migraines. Tiv was getting them more and more often now, a side effect of the numerous sleeping pills she was taking to stay in Etherea longer. She quickly popped the pill into her mouth, washing it down with a gulp of water. This was the fast-acting stuff... should start to work in thirty minutes or so. Downing the rest of the water, she put the glass into a sink and headed back out to the main body of the bar.
Her last excursion into Etherea had been amazing. She'd traveled to a new city along the coast... a cute little village that was right on the beach. Tiv was contemplating staking that as her 'hometown'. The people there were just like her... laid back and casual. They didn't give her weird looks for the way she dressed, unlike the populations in the bigger cities. Tiv's Other Form was more barbaric, and she liked it. She felt like it really expressed her style. Edgy, but not completely brutish. The small coastal town had also been experiencing some problems recently... more attacks from shadow-like creatures. They were easy enough to beat, but the only problem was when they came in droves. Too many and Tiv couldn't handle them all, even with the aid of her powers. So every so often a person would get snatched or something, but Tiv did her best, and the people worshiped her for it. They provided her Other self with food, lodging, and anything else she needed in exchange for her continued protection. She would have continued to do it anyway, but the people insisted that they take care of her for taking care of them. Tivoli came out of her daydreaming state as a patron came before her and demanded another round of beers for his table. Sighing, Tiv glanced at Angel with another sly smiled as she moved closer to him to get the beer.

A light tap on his a**. He blushed momentarily, shook it off, and poured the double shot of captain. Tiv thought he was sleeping! She should have known by now that he didn't have to sleep to go into Etherea. He wasn't that much of a slacker that he would straight up go take a nap at work. He was just...day dreaming. Yeah, that was it.
"Damn it! Nothing gets by her. She saw me come in after all." Angel thought, turning around to hand the girl the double shot of captain morgan she had requested. He sat the slender glass down in front of the girl, and smiled.
"She talks big. I'm a slacker. Make no mistake". He and the girl laughed. "Anyway, what's your name?"
The girl gulped down the double shot, her eyes widening as the liquid hit her tongue and went down her throat. She slammed the shot glass down onto the counter, panting.
"Good God alcohol is gross", she shook her head, and looked back at Angel, who was silently laughing at her.
"That's the price you pay to feel good, am I right? After a few more, you shouldn't even taste it". Another laugh. "Although, I've got to tell you, if you tell me you're getting too drunk, I have to stop serving you. So...keep that to yourself."
She laughed, and nodded. "You bet. Oh, and my name is Amy". "Amy. That's honestly one of my favorite names. No lie," he said, momentarily taking his eyes off of her to look over at Tivoli, who had just sent a rather sexy smile his way, and was walking towards him. What was her deal tonight? He shook the thought from his head and returned to Amy.
"Oh please. You're just trying to flatter me," She said, her fingers pushing the shot glass around in circles. "Eh..."
Angel didn't know how to start his sentence. He did not speak to flatter people. He spoke and dealt in truths. That's why he was the "Golden" Knight in Etherea. He did not tell lies. He did not play games. He wanted to tell her that he did not speak to flatter anyone. Ever. But he wanted to say it in a way that would not sound too arrogant.
Angel could not produce the words.

☪xxxxxxxxxx songxxxxxxxxxx☪xxxxxxxxxx earthThe firey red-head chuckled at Angel’s doe-eyed glance in her direction as she tapped his butt. Kid needed to get some action… seriously. However, Tiv rolled her eyes as he continued to talk to the girl… Amy, if she had heard correctly. What was it she’d said? ’Good God alcohol is gross!’ Yeesh. Tivoli probably could have pegged her as a fruity cocktail girl from the start, though. After working in the business for a while, you could just tell. Even if she didn’t do the super-pansy watered-down fruit beverages, she wasn’t a hard liquor gal by any standards. Where was the fun in that? Sure, no one needed a relationship where a partner was an alcoholic, but cutting loose every once in a while was fun. This chick seemed like a ‘safe fun’ kind of gal. Well, if she loved safety so much she could marry it. Tiv was surprised at herself. Why was she sounding so bitter? Well… it wasn’t so much ‘why’ as ‘which reason’. The vast amounts of pills she was taking could be contributing to mood swings, or she could be the fact that she recently broken up with a long-term boyfriend. Then again, that influenced the heavy medications for sleeping. He was the thing that had kept her on Earth. With him gone, there was nothing to really keep her in this particular plane during her off-work hours… so she floated between worlds. Heroine in one, barmaid in the other. As Tiv pulled up more drinks, she reflected upon the fact that she had often wondered whether or not dying on earth would allow her to stay permanently in Etherea. She just didn’t know, and was too chicken to OD just in case.
Amidst her dark thoughts, Tiv looked up to see Angel in a seemingly awkward lull in the conversation with Miss Amy Safe-Fun. ”… hey Ang! I know the lady’s fun to look at, but pick your jaw up off the floor and get your a** back to work. You’re not on this shift just to stand there and look, you know,” she chided him, throwing a dish rag at him. Honestly. She’d never understood the draw guys had to those dainty girls. Maybe it was the same type of thing good girls had to ‘bad’ boys… then again, any type of girl had to crush on a ‘bad’ boy at least once. Tivoli marveled upon her moment of insight. One step closer to unraveling the mystery that was the Male Brain. She ought to write a book. ”By the way,” she spoke to Amy conversationally, ”If you think alcohol is ‘gross’ I wouldn’t venture past another shot of that. You’ll want to kill yourself tomorrow. I would, however, suggest our Daiquiri for you. Nice, light, and we've got a good variety of flavors.” Her tone wasn't overtly patronizing, in fact, it was downright pleasant. Tiv's smile, however, seemed to be a near-laugh, as if she were thinking of a secret about Amy that only Tiv was privy to. "... and if you're evening the merchandise," she added, patting Angel on the shoulder, "I'd prefer it if you waited to pounce after his shift is done. We're a bit understaffed tonight, as you can probably tell." She winked at Angel again before accepting the drink order from a waiter.

Amy smiled and nodded, her cheeks slightly flushed. "Na...I think I'm gonna head home now, I think I've had enough for tonight," Amy said, gathering up her pink, frilly purse, retrieving her wallet. She walked over to the register, and paid her tab, whilst smiling at Angel.
Angel waved her good bye, and turned to Tivoli. She was off tonight. A lack of sleep, perhaps? Doubtful. He knew that she loved traveling into Etherea just as much as he did. She slept often. He knew it.
"So...that was a bit unnecessary, Tiv. I wasn't the least bit interested in her. I mean....I can't deny she was...hot, and all...but she was...too...'safe'". Angel saw the word cross Tivoli's mind for the brief moment his mind reading abilities kicked in.
That was the thing about his lesser domain over the mind. Being that it was a "lesser" ability, it worked when it wanted to. And, with that being said, Angel simply had to pay attention whenever he saw thoughts that were not his own float into his head.
"Anyway, what are you doing after work?" Angel wanted to talk to her about her life, and how she was doing since her latest break up. And, aside from that, he simply wanted to hang out with someone. His studies at school and his work at the bar had left him with little to no free time.

☪xxxxxxxxxx songxxxxxxxxxx☪xxxxxxxxxx earth"So...that was a bit unnecessary, Tiv. I wasn't the least bit interested in her. I mean....I can't deny she was...hot, and all...but she was...too...'safe'," Angel told her hesitantly, as if he were afraid she’d reach out and snap his neck. Tiv smiled as he voiced her thoughts. It was something she had to get used to, for she never knew when he was listening and when he wasn’t. She also had to be careful about the content of her thoughts around him. Not like she had anything to hide, but he didn’t really need to know all the people she checked out while working. Angel and his butt included.
”Don't stutter, darlin'. She was hot, and that was that... and you know I just like to mess with you. She was a nice looking gal. Your mom would approve. When my ex took me home to meet his mom. she cried,” Tiv admitted to him as she put more drinks on the bar, double checking the right orders went out with the right waiters, ”I honestly didn’t think I was that badly behaved… but seriously. You seriously should get out more, Angel. School’s killing you.” She was one to talk, what, spending all her free time sleeping…
"Anyway, what are you doing after work?" he asked her, and Tivoli could hear the loneliness in his voice. She sighed as she wiped a glass, shelving it after it dried before picking up another.
”Well, you know, I got a job working at the strip club a few doors down so I was gonna take the last shift there before I…” she said seriously before rolling her eyes. ”I’m kidding. Really though… I was going to stop by the grocery store and then head home. Probably pop some pills and slip under for a while,” she said bluntly. Tiv didn’t care if he knew about her recreational use for the sleeping pills. There was no shame in it. She couldn’t just drift off like he could. ”… but getting out would do me good,” she said moodily, watching a drunk pair of men in a corner, seemingly readying herself to toss them out should they become rowdy, ”I’ve been spending all my time sleeping. I’m going to get bed sores if I’m not careful. We could have a study party.” She gave him another one of her sly smiles, her lips forming a delicate bow as they turned up at the corners. ”I can cook dinner if you want. When’s the last time you didn’t have a microwaveable meal?” Tiv asked, accepting a credit card from a waiter as she ran it through the register.

”You seriously should get out more, Angel. School’s killing you," Tiv said.
Wasn't that the truth? He spent his time studying code and drawing. Drawing had been a fun thing to do at one point in time. But now his life, well, his future life, depended on it. Angel wanted to be a game designer, and, more specifically, he wanted to design the characters in the games. He wanted to make a game that mirrored Etherea, so others could experience what he experienced every day. But that day was far, far away.
Angel pushed himself back into the conversation, and smiled, their like-colored eyes meeting. "The last real meal I had? Are we talking home cooked or...like...a restaurant? Because I eat out all the time. But...if it's home cooked...I haven't had that in forever."
It was true. He couldn't cook to save his life. Angel had never learned that skill from his parents before they had passed away. So that was that. With no steady girlfriend to cook for him, he was SOL and made due with microwaveable meals and what ever fast food joint he happened to pass on the way home from work and school. Whatever she said, he knew how the night would end; The two of them relaxing at her place, drinking. Maybe they would be a little tipsy? Who knew? They would eventually fall asleep, and go off to Etherea. And who knew what they would find there. The dream scape had been odd as of late. Something was definitely going on in Etherea. Exactly what it was though, he could not be sure of.

"Alright, I love you bro. I'll be there in a bit." Morgan said smiling. All she got out of Martin was a single syllable, but that was fine. She knew that he loved her too - what was it the litle blue cartoon alien dog said? Aloha means family, and family means no one gets left behind. Uuuugh, cheesy movies. Always so adorable.
Morgan hung up the phone and slipped it in her pocket, along with a twenty-dollar bill out of her purse. She didn't enjoy carrying a lot of things on her - MP3 player and headphones, natch, she loved to listen to music, a bit of cash, and her phone. If she wasn't going to class, that's all she was carrying.
"Build me buttercup, don't let me doooowwwn~!" she sang as she left the house. The college she and Martin went to wasn't a fancy or prestigious college, it was local, right here in the city. Like Morgan and Martin, there were lots of other commuter students.
But most importantly, it was close to home. Like, really close to home. Like... she just crossed a main street, and part of the campus was right there, just a few blocks over.
Morgan walked the rest of the way to the bar. It was a good meeting place for her and her brother, it was close to home, and closer to school. It was also - hadn't she said this before? She could have sworn she had this exact same thought not ten minutes ago. Two of the staff there seemed familiar, and she liked to sit in there, to see if maybe she would remember them from somewhere. Or, just imagine them in different costumes for the hell of it - the women, a wild spirit, and the man, a valient warrior. They could totally pull it off.
Flipping her long pale hair back over her shoulder as she walked into the bar finally, Morgan took a seat next to her brother, and smiled at him.
"Don't tell me you sat here all alone waiting for me! Didn't you at least try to talk up any of the pretty girls here?"

The airborne knight drifted for hours, or was it days? Perhaps it was only minutes. Time in a dream is relative, and in the realm of her home, all was dreams. She passed over the seas, and winds caught hold of her- driving her inland. Like a zepplin, she flew over all she could, passing equal parts serene countryside and sprawling metropolis. Fantastical castles and corporate empires. Such was the nature of her world. Arbitrarily, she felt an urge to come to some sort of urban area and slowly release her power. By gradually ending her gravitational construct, she was able to glide gently to the ground and land without a noise. Her landing area was a desolate little alley, a single door before her. She didn't recognize this place, but thought it interesting enough to try and enter.
When she tried to touch the door, however, her hand passed through it. Pausing for a moment, the knight looked at her hand, and felt no pain. It was as if the door were made of air. A second test proved the same result, and she then tried to walk through it. Sure enough, it posed no obstacle. Now she stood in a bar, one full of people. None noticed her entry, nor gave her credence. A handful of faces reflected in her mask, and some even dared to look familiar, but not enough to name them. Instead, she stood alone in a room full of ghosts, afterimages almost. This construct was not complete, like a daydream that hadn't been allowed to fully materialize. Standing in the center of the bar, more than one person walks past without even seeing her, and one even walked through her. Standing in curiosity, the knight looked like a solid statue in a room of holograms. Unmoving, watching, waiting.
(( yeah, I posted to show I didn't abandon this place, and thought to join you guys at the bar, even if only in a daydream ))

Odessa returned to the kitchen and instead found Callie installed in front of the TV happily munching on crackers and chugging her milk. "Did you do your homework?" she asked her sibling. "Didn't have any." Callie responded distractedly. "Ok, but go outside and play after this show." Her sister didn't answer but vaguely nodded.
Collecting her backpack from the front hall, Odessa headed to her room at the back of the house. She lay down on the bottom bunk (Callie was a little monkey and took the top)and pulled out her math homework. Lying on her stomach with her chin in her hands she began to read through the assignment. She glanced toward her backpack sitting open on the floor by her bed. "The Vengeful Valkyrie"'s lurid cover peeked out from amidst her biology textbook and English lesson. Odessa turned back to the math book laid out in front of her.
The first question read: John gave half of his apples to Jim. Jim gave gave half of his apples to Carla. Carla gave 1/4 of the apples given to her to Thomas and kept the remaining 12. How many apples did John start with? Why does it matter? It was obviously more than he could eat! Odessa thought to herself. She looked at her backpack on the floor. The Vengeful Valkyrie gaped back at her. I just need my calculator...I'll just get it...She lied to herself. Odessa reached in her bag but somehow instead of her calculator, her hand came back with the book. Just five pages, then back to math...she lied to herself again. She pushed the math book off the bed and lay down on her back, propping the book on her stomach and began to read.
---She was conscious first of the breeze on her face and the smell of salt it carried with it. She was in a small coracle type boat floating near the edge of a shore with a pleasant looking beach. Above her a sea gull turned gently on air currents. It was serene as she paddled toward the coast. She could see a figure on the beach from a distance but when she arrived all that was left was footsteps in the sand, she pulled the coracle up onto the beach and began to follow the steps.---
Odessa woke up with a start. Callie had just burst into the room. The Vengeful Valkyrie lay open on her chest, she hadn't gotten far. "Mom says dinner is ready." Callie said. "Is it that late?" Odessa asked, but Callie was already gone. With a sigh, Odessa sat up, bumping her head on the upper bunk (she was getting too big for the bed) and she began to remember her dream. It wasn't the first she'd had of the land Etherea, they had started a few months ago. She glanced at the math book on the floor and the fantasy book in her hand. She needed to stop taking these naps, her grades were starting to suffer.

Martin hadn't been waiting long before a familiar face - and voice - showed up.
"Don't tell me you sat here all alone waiting for me! Didn't you at least try to talk up any of the pretty girls here?"
He snorted. There she went again, trying to get him to 'socialize' or some such nonsense. As if he needed another sort of distraction now.
"Don't worry - he's been taking care of that." Martin casually pointed towards the male bartender. "But anyway," he continued, waving his hand as if to dismiss the earlier part of the conversation, "did you want to sit in the restaurant part or up here? I'd be fine with either." Staying at the bar would mean he might have to talk to more people, of course, but he wouldn't mind listening in on more of the bartenders' conversation. It was very interesting. In the end, though, he'd leave it up to his sister.
