(( ooc: Oh I know! I don't mind drama either but Algie is being difficult in my head. He doesn't like to be... .. disliked. Hahaha ))
Algie blinked in surprise that Amon had so forwardly pointed out his discomfort. He thought he was being a bit sneakier than he was. As he'd gotten older his ability to hide his emotions had faded. Instead of answering right away he took a deep drink of his tea, which was absolutely delicious.
"Nothing amiss so much. Just.. worried." Bloo seemed to sense it stuck close to his bond in support. "You see... I'm a wizard."
He didn't look up and instead stared into his teacup like a guilty child. "When you said you didn't like magic I was unsure what to do. I am having a nice time and you seem like a good lad and I adore Nephrite. I don't push magic onto anyone else but it is what I am."
He lifted his head finally and met Amon's eyes with his bold emerald ones. "I understand if you feel this will in some way hinder us being friendly."
Well he wasn't dressed magical and he hadn't done anything particularly magical. He didn't even look very magical, just like a middle aged british man. Hopefully that would work to his favor.
Bloo hovered by Algie's hand in support, shadows licking out to brush the elder's skin. But he was also 'facing' Amon as if he was challenging him to a fight if Algie's orientation was an issue.

((D’aw, Algie. *pets*))
The wizard was at an unfair disadvantage though, without his knowing, as his opposite was rather perceptive and actually trained in reading body language and picking up even the most subtle signs – those of females, for the most part, but it still worked fine enough for just about everyone else, as long as they were human, or raised as such.
“... I see,” Amon said, after a little pause, giving Nephrite a pointed glare. ‘Do you have to tell everyone?’
Nephrite merely gave him a seemingly disinterested glance, quirking her delicate brows, and then went back to taking apart the floppy remnants of her blooming tea. ‘You were the one to bring it up.’
Amon frowned, mentally going back over the conversation. Yeah, she actually was right. ‘Sorry,’ he apologized for blaming her, unaware she actually might have informed the wizard about his quirk previously.
It wasn’t like Amon was getting unfriendly – or even rude – towards Algernon all of a sudden. Hells, that was very much reserved for certain druids and wannabe demon summoners trying to feed him to their respective “gods”, thank you very much.
But it was fairly obvious he’d gotten tense, and that he was on his guard now, his face a polite mask as he spoke: “It’s … not so much that I don’t ‘like’ it,” Amon said cautiously. “It’s more, like, it scares the living daylights out of me, for good, good reason. Just … don’t magick around In My Face and we’ll both be fine.”
He took another sip from his coffee, eying Algernon and wondering just how “wizards” might differ from “magic-users”. Or “druids”. And just where he himself might fit in with that stupid “element” of his messing with his life.

"Oh I wouldn't even presume to!" Algie was grateful he hadn't been stormed out on. That would be a drastic reaction, of course, but there was never any knowing ahead of time. He was glad that Amon seemed to think things through and use reason. It was more than some ever offered.
"To be honest, I think on Gaia standards I'm little more than a magician." It wasn't exactly true but more and more lately that was how he'd been feeling. At home he was considered to be rather powerful but even a killing curse seemed like parlor tricks compared the depths of soul magic that seemed almost played with on Gaia.
Bloo moved back to Neph now that he was confident that Amon and Algie were fine. The female fiend was still fascinated by her tea but Bloo seemed over it. Instead he moved closer to Amon again. He just sort of drifted around, reaching out with his tendrils to feel the air around the man in some form of inspection.
"So what do you do for a living?" Algie was curious and Amon hadn't mentioned it. "If you don't mind me asking." He heard a musical laugh from outside the shop. It sounded like Hela was on her way.
(( Feel free to use her as an interruption if you want. If you want to avoid the question or disrupt the answer. She isn't quite inside the shop yet but she can burst in at any moment. ))

Amon just might have stormed out on Algie a year or two prior. But, things changed. It was a gradual, slow, baby-step-by-baby-step sort of change, but – certain “incidents” included he seemed to slowly get somewhat of a handle on his phobia. It did work in Algernon’s favor that he was neither dressed nor particularly looked “magical”. But, that had been the case with Gregory as well, which had eventually led to himself almost getting killed and Nephrite ending up with severe burns. Though the latter had been his fault. So he remained on his guard.
“Yeah. I take it that Gaia is kinda ‘special’ in that regard,” Amon admitted dryly, not sounding particularly pleased about it. “I probably should have moved to a more mundane world as soon as I had the chance.” He shrugged. If he were to be asked why he hadn’t, he honestly wouldn’t be able to answer the question. He didn’t like portals, for once. Then there were obligations, and the precious few ties and roots he had.
He noticed the wisp drawing closer again, wondering if it was mere curiosity which attracted it, or something else. It seemed so long ago, now, that Nephrite had been at this stage. My, how time flies. He absently offered his hand to the wisp, slightly wiggling his dark fingers as an invitation to come play before Algie’s innocent question took him somewhat off guard.
“Oh. I don’t mind you asking. It’s just, it’s an occupation that’s rather adult nature, so tend to not bring it up on my own, as to not put my conversation partners at unease.” Amon smirked, despite still being wary and on his guard in the other’s presence. It was just, Algernon appeared to be just so very British, it seemed likely he would react scandalized. Whereas Amon was fairly easygoing and rather shameless. It just … sort of came with his profession. “I’m an escort.” He glanced up when the door opened, and quirked a brow at the newcomer’s looks. Tentacles. Now that was a rare sight to see, even on Gaia. “Females only,” he added distractedly.
Nephrite however, was mostly done dissecting the floppy remnants of her blooming tea, having most of it worked out. So, they had just stitched this to that, and then sort of rolled the leaves around, forming it into a ball.
Only … just how had they done that without all the dry leaves simply crumbling to bits and pieces?! The young fiend frowned. This certainly required some more research.
‘Can I use your laptop?’ she inquired cautiously. ‘I promise to be careful with it.’ Or maybe there were books about it. Still, it was a lot easier finding said books online than poking about in the local libraries. Especially as the internet was open twentyfour-seven, whereas the libraries usually were closed while she was awake.

"Oh.." Algie's green eyes widened but a smile spread across his face slowly. "Well done then." He laughed a bit. "I mean certainly.. you do well." With those looks? Of course. "Very well done!"
Algie was not scandalized in the least bit. Maybe if he was Amon's father he'd have a bit of an opinion on it. He'd grown up during the 70's! He'd had his share of partners... partners of all kinds. Not so much nowadays, but that was besides the point.
"Algie!?" A tinkling voice called out in a musical tone and undulating hips brought Hela into the shop. He pale blue eyes darted here and there, though with no pupils it was difficult to tell apart from her head swivel. "ALGIE!"
Hela bounced in place before finding her way over. "Oh my gaaawd I found the cutest top and could I....." He froze for a moment when she saw Amon. A darker shade of burgundy filled her full cheeks and she put on a shy smile. When did she get shy? This was a FIRST. "Oh.. I didn't realize you had friends with you." She clutched her bag behind her back for a moment but then seemed to slightly get over it. She had to be a woman and not a giggly girl. Her inner monologue was lecturing her on Amon's good looks and real women.
"Hela.." Algie rose just a moment to get his ward a chair. "This is Amon and Nephrite. Neph is like Bloo but... well bigger."
When Hela tore her eyes from the gorgeous guardian she positively squealed over Neph. "Oh my you are sooooo adorable! I love you hair and your tail's pattern and omg ((yeah she said OMG)) we should totally hang out!"
Algie looked slightly embarrassed but Hela was a very nice girl once you got past the squealing.
Bloo didn't like her squealing but he did enjoy her company so once she arrived he spun around her arm, which she held out for him with a smile.
Hela darted her eyes to Amon over and over, batting her lashes at him but eventually became preoccupied with wht Neph was doing. "Ohh whats that? That's gorgeous." She pulled out a big fat cell phone with a pale blue case and started typing things and dragging things and touch screening other things. "Want to look it up on my phone?! I can show you how to use it if you want!"

Not scandalized or embarrassed at all, that was a bit of a surprise. It was rare to encounter people who were so laid back upon hearing about Amon’s profession, and that too, eventually, worked in Algie’s favor. Amon relaxed visibly, and rose from his seat to greet the wizard’s ward with his most dazzling smile when they were introduced. “Charmed.”
He sat, motioning for the waitress to come over in case Hela would want for anything, though he actually would have preferred to leave – soon. Nothing to do with her – he’d had his share of dealing overenthusiastic and obnoxiously loud teenage girls, squealing and all, her behavior put him off at all. “Advanced babysitting” was what he tended to refer to those jobs as, seeing he strictly worked within the law. Sex with minors was completely out of question. No, but it hadn’t quite escaped his attention how it seemed to grow darker out with every passing minute. It still had to be before noon, but it looked like evening. Hell would break lose soon, no doubt.
Nephrite beamed at Hela. It didn’t happen often for her to be called ‘adorable’ and her carefully styled hair and her patterned tail to be acknowledged in the same breath. Quite prone to flattery, she instantly decided she liked the other girl.
‘It changes its pattern depending on what I wear,’ she informed Hela, her tail briefly furling, and then unfurling again. Unable to resist the compulsion to show off (like she had already done in front of Algie), the fiend concentrated, taking on her fully corporeal form for a few seconds, which resulted in her tail splitting in half, shaping into a pair of legs and the most delicate tiny feet ever. The pattern remained, making it look as if she was wearing a pair of fancy stockings. She couldn’t keep up the focus for long though, so soon enough her tail reformed.
‘That’s a blooming tea,’ she said, motioning at it’s floppy, partially dissected remains. ‘I’m trying to figure out how it’s made.’ Curiously she eyed Hela’s phone. Amon had one like this, all fancy with things that moved upon touch, but he never let her use it. Though he had taught her how to text-message on his more basic cell, ever since that near-fatal event in late winter, when she’d been unable to call for help.
“Sumedha,” Amon said to the waitress in a pleasant tone, offering her a brilliant smile, “does the excellent service of this establishment possibly include umbrellas for its guests as well?”
Sumedha’s cheeks darkened slightly, and she gave a hesitant smile as well, her teeth white as pearl, though she kept her gaze shyly downcast. “I’ll have to enquire about it, but I’m sure that’s possible, Sir.” No doubt one of the cousins would be sent running soon to fetch some umbrellas for their guests elsewhere on the bazaar. “Anything for the Lady?”
Amon eyed Hela for a moment, trying to judge her possible likes and dislikes. Given her obvious aquatic nature she probably wasn’t one for hot beverages. And given she was a teen still (or behaved like one, at least), chances were she’d prefer sweet. “Their iced teas are excellent,” he suggested. “Or perhaps you’d like to try a mango lassi – it’s very refreshing with this kind of weather.”
(( Hahah, Neph in her fully human form has extremely tiny feet - sort of, like, natural "lotus feet". ))

Dazzling smile was dazzling.
Hela stared. STAAARED for just a moment before smiling and popping her attention back to Neph. She was definitely AMAZED by the leg trick and the patterns. "You are so lucky! At least you don't have tentacles!" It wasn't self deprecating in any way and she 'kicked her legs' as support of this. Her tentacles writhed a bit, dangerous looking with the strange spines that grew under them.
"Well Hela.. you are rather amazing yourself." Algie patted her arms, as a supportive parent would. He knew that sometimes she had a hard time getting around on her tentacles but she was better off than a lot of the 'hiccups' as they were called.
"Oh I know." Hela waved her hand at Algie dismissively. "I'm fabulous." She then had the phone again and her hands were going a million miles a minute on the touch screen. "Make.. own.. blooming.. oh no.. flowering.. tea.." she mumbled it as she searched. When offered a drink she gave a very polite smile. "Oh.. no I'm fine. Thank you. Yum mango lassi! But no.. watching my weight.." She chuckled in amusement. She sure as hell was not watching her weight but she tended to use that as an excuse for everything.
Algie nodded to Amon, a silent 'don't ask' sort of face. He was getting the impression that Amon was ready to go. He wasn't offended in the slightest and was suspecting soon that Hela would need to return home for some hydration. "Hela did you need something?"
"Oh I just wanted.." Her eyes wouldn't move from her phone and she seemed to text as she talked. "..your credit card maybe?" Now she looked up. "But I like your friends. Do you like Bloo, Neph? Can you talk with him because he's like you?" She didn't know anything about fiends. "Will he get legs soon too?"
Algie sighed and rubbed his face. She'd never shown a BIT of interest in Bloodstone's development until this moment. Bloo settled back on Algie's finger, also seeming to be bored of Hela's rambling.

‘I probably could have tentacles, if I wanted to.’ After all she could have legs and a tail if she wanted to. She didn’t see why tentacles shouldn’t be possible as well, she’d just never tried it. Her forehead promptly furrowed with concentration.
“If you frown like that, it’s going to get stuck,” Amon said, laughing at Nephrite’s shocked face.
‘Really?!’
“Nah. Just kidding.”
Nephrite gave him a scathing glare, but her concentration was broken now, and she was too easily distracted, craning her neck once more to watch what was going on on the display of Hela’s phone. No tentacles today for sure.
Amon waited for a bit until Hela seemed to have made up her mind about not wanting anything. “The bill then,” he said, “if that’s alright. It’s on me.”
Sumedha bowed gracefully, smiling. “I’ll be right back,” she said, her numerous bangles jingling as she walked towards the counter and then into the back room, probably inquiring about the umbrellas. Amon hoped they’d still make it before the weather happened.
‘He’s too small still to talk,’ Nephrite explained. ‘He can only send feelings. But I think he’s going to grow soon.’ He seemed more sentient, more self-conscious than the other wisps she’d met. Which generally were rather … stupid.
