Well now. Jove didn't run or anything. So that was always a bonus. Perhaps he was starting to understand that tag really wasn't that bad a game? Unfortunately, just as he was beginning to think this, the wisp's ears fell flat against his head again.
Perhaps not...
Confused. The black dog continued to sit and stare at the other boil. Trying to understand why he was so scared of the concept of being chased around and stuff... and failing. Perhaps over time Jove would change his mind. But in the meantime, Tybalt would have to forget about tag.
"Hmm... no tag... Is there anything else you like to do?" He asked curiously. "Err... Aside from mushroom hunting, that is." He quickly added. Still very aware of his previous hunting experience and how disastrous it was.

Jove's ears perked up at the mention of mushrooms, but flopped right back down when he realized it was an example of something Tybalt didn't want to do. He liked mushroom hunting, and while he didn't need any more mushrooms at the moment, it was always fun to find them. Especially strange ones he hadn't found before.
The pup sat down in front of Tybalt and frowned. What else did he do when he was out... Mostly he just walked around and sniffed things. Was he supposed to do anything in particular when he was out? It seemed fun just being out to look at stuff, and what went on in the forest when there was nobody else to disturb things. Clearly the pup still had many things to learn about having fun with friends.

No answer, eh? This was a little more tricky then he thought. He was so used to getting an actual reply that he had no idea how to deal with someone who replied with body language. Though one would think the black dog would be able to understand it better. His species was a kind of dog that rarely made so much as a sound after all. Then again, he was born in the Halloween realm and had lived here his entire undead life and here he could speak as much as he'd like.
"Maybe we'll think of something along the way?" He suggested with a shrug. Or as best a shrug as a black dog could give. In the mean time, they might as well continue with what they originally had set out to do.

Jove seemed not put out in the slightest over the silence that stretched out for a minute, but he didn't like how Tybalt seemed to think they had to do something. It made the little pup felt distinctly un-dog-like. Weren't the things he did fun enough? He was capable of having fun, after all.
He puffed up a little bit, stood up, and trotted right up to the larger black dog. And then pawed at Tybalt's giant, black leg. Turning around, Jove trotted off at a brisk pace with both ears swivelled backwards to listen behind him. See, he could do fun things! He wasn't afraid of a little bit of tag!

This was awkward. Walking in silence was great and all, but normally when he was hanging out with someone, he liked to at least chat a little. Jove didn't seem to think the same, however, and was quite content with continuing on in silence. Though he did seem a little disgruntled that Tybalt was pressuring for something more than just a quiet walk.
Giving an inward sigh, Tybalt resigned himself to the fact that they probably wouldn't be doing anything other than a walk and instead continued his steady, but slowed pace. He was still determined to enjoy his time with a fellow canine. It wasn't often that he got a chance like this! Though what he didn't plan on, was the tiny little tap at his hind leg and the sudden blur of the little foxfire running on ahead.
Did he just.. tag him?
Stunned, he stopped in his tracks and looked back at his hind leg, before looking back to the little foxfire who was quickly gaining distance on him. He did tag him! On top of that, the little guy was fast for such a tiny creature and if he didn't catch up soon, he'd lose him in the woods!
It was a challenge!
Grinning, the black dog leaped into a run, giving chase as his tail whipped back and forth in a wag, while he pursued the little wisp. Though careful enough to keep a non-aggression look on his face as best as he could manage. He wanted to show Jove just how fun tag could really be!

For a minute Jove wasn't even sure Tybalt would follow him. There seemed to be nothing but silence...
And then he heard the larger dog behind him. Neither ghost carried that much weight when running, but the telltale crunch of dried leaves and the rustle of branches was enough to tip Jove off. And he felt the beginnings of anxiety stirring in his fluffy little heart area.
The pup sped up even more, little feet whipping back and forth under the fluff to zoom through the forest. He was good at running, sure-footed without sacrificing speed, and an expert at picking a path that would be difficult to follow. Without even realizing it he zoomed underneath a short thicket of bushes, the branches tugging the stray ends of his fur into ghostly wisps as he flew by. He might not have been afraid of chasing and doing the tagging, but running away was really making him nervous...

He had to admit, he wasn't sure if he would be able to catch up at this rate. Jove was picking a path that was perfect for him and his tiny size, while Tybalt was having to dodge and duck under the larger branches. Smart! Not that it mattered much anyways. Even without the obstacles, that pup was quicker than he ever imagined. It seemed he had underestimated the little guy.
In fact. it wasn't until the little foxfire dove under and through the thicket of bushes that the black dog had hopes of catching up. Though he couldn't squeeze under like Jove could, he instead took one leap and he landed on the other side; right in front of Jove. This was his chance!
Reaching out with his paw, he gave him a very light pat on the head and took off again, though not before yelling back.
"Tag! Your it!"

Jove was starting to feel better in the safety of the bushes, but the moment he zoomed out, Tybalt was there. He yelped loudly even before he felt the tap on his head, and promptly turned tail without even hearing the tag from the other ghost. He ran back through the bushes in a panic and out the other side, ran full tilt up the trunk of a half-decayed fallen tree, and leapt into the closest safe place he could find. A hole in an adjacent tree that might have housed squirrels at one point.
The little pup trembled and flattened himself into a little ball of fluff against the bottom of the hollow. He could hardly collect his thoughts, they rushed through his mind like a fearful torrent. Why had he tried to play that game with Tybalt? Why couldn't he just have fun like a regular ghost?

Tybalt was probably made it about forty feet by the time he realized Jove was not behind him. In fact, he was nowhere to be seen. Surely he hadn't been that fast... He had seen how fast the little guy was... So where was he? Did he fall into a pit or something?
Backtracking along the route, he nosed around through the ground; turning over rocks and smaller logs. Though it wasn't until he came across the bushes he had cleared earlier in a jump that he actually found him... hiding.
"Whatcha' doing Jove?" He asked curiously, wondering if they changed the game to hide and seek. Did this mean he won?

The pup trembled, his little ears flattening down against his head, his body little more than a fluffy ball with glowing eyes and a tiny muzzle sticking out. He couldn't even muster up the confidence to pretend he hadn't been terrified. Why did he feel so determined to play Tag anyway?
As he returned to a less terrified state, his cheeks started to glow in an embarrassed, shameful blush. Of course he had to show off his fears in front of the black dog... Now he would never live it down.
He tucked his head under his paws, forming a completely round ball of fluff inside the tree hollow. Maybe if he stayed like that long enough, Tybalt would go off and forget about it all.

Hmm... no answer...
.......
Then again, did he really expect one?
"You wanting to play hide and seek now?" He asked curiously, slightly confused and only a little aware of the foxfire's fright. Was it the fear of being found? Ah! Was he supposed to act and let Jove think that he did a good job hiding? Aww... Tybalt failed!
"Err, you found a good hiding place!" He started trying to cover up his own mistake--or what he thought was his own mistake and instead tried to encourage the other boil. "Almost thought I wouldn't find you!"
Obviously, pretending was not one of his strong points...

Slowly Jove's little ears perked back up out of the fluff, and then he looked up with his sad blue eyes. Was Tybalt covering for his fear? Was he trying to pretend so Jove could save face? The little puppy had no idea the black dog was trying to cover up for something completely different, he only knew he was being given the opportunity to go on like nothing bad had happened.
His tail wagged once, shyly, and he un-puffed to sit up inside the hollow. It sounded like Tybalt was suggesting a different game. A hiding game?
A hiding game wouldn't be nearly as scary as a chasing game... The pup tilted his head, as though asking what happened now in this new game they were playing.

Ah! It seemed to be working! Maybe Tybalt wasn't as bad as an actor as he first thought! Though looking at Jove, he seemed to be a little more curious about the game mentioned.
"Uhh hide and seek. One---or as many people playing hides and there is one that seeks them out and if they can't find them, the one(s) who remain hidden, win! Sort of like tag... but more seeking than running. Though there is also hide and seek tag. It's like a combination of the two." He nodded happily remembering the good times when he played with fellow black dogs. Though he wasn't sure if Jove would be quite up to playing that version quite yet. Maybe later? Maybe if there was a group of people involved?

Oh... so this hide and seek was more of a finding game than a chasing game... He could play this! Jove knew all sorts of hiding places everywhere in the forest! The pup's ears perked, and his tail returned to it's usual position curled up over his back, starting to forget about his earlier frightened blunder. Being found was a completely different thing than being chased, he could do all his running before Tybalt came to find him! And he might even be able to win, with his really good hiding places!
Jove's little tail wagged. He rarely got to win any sort of games, not in gym class or outside of class, even with Ren and games of Scario kart. Even a half a year since his introduction, and he still needed more practice.
His ears flopped sideways at the mention of hide and seek tag... That seemed almost worse than tag on it's own, because then you'd just be cowering and waiting to be chased down...

Ah, so it was a no go for hide and seek tag. Drat... and here he was hoping... Good thing he didn't have his heart set on it yet. Though Jove did seem very interested in just hide and seek. That was a plus! Though to play they would probably need more people. Just one on one got a little boring after a while.
"Know anyone that might be interested in playing hide and seek with us?" He asked, hoping he did. "It'll be more fun with a group." He added. "We can go ask around if you like?" Or more to say, he'd be doing the asking, since Jove barely spoke, if at all. Maybe they could leave a notice out for others to see or something?
