Rap isn't musical. There's no melody or harmony or anything, or at least not much. Many raps are also demeaning to women. Other guys tease me a lot, but I'm a hard core feminist and am really offended when people portray the opposite sex as an object, not a person, and there only for sex. Personally, I think that sort of mindset just makes guys sound stupid. That's why I don't like rap. As to country, I just don't enjoy it. I don't have some sort of vendetta against it, it has not killed my brother or anything, I just don't like it. Saying something is gay rather than stupid makes me ANGRY!!!! I could rant on that subject forever.

I say most rap is very....vulgar. I like the beats and the music but the lyrics are what turn me off to it. Counrty depresses me for an odd reason. My Friend asked me how i could think that Country is depressing when i can listen to songs that have pretty much everything to do with death (in her view)

Rap to me just isn't music. If you're sampling and not really playing any instruments, then that just isn't music to me. I'm also about a strong melody. Which rap....just doesn't have the majority of the time. I can appreciate a well-rapped(?) song, but it's just not what I like.
As for Country, I went through a phase of liking country. Now I cannot STAND it. I guess I sorta grew up with it, since my dad was in a pretty popular country band. But I was a classically trained singer, so my dad tried to get me to sing country, and I couldn't, because it's WRONG. That's not the correct way to sing and if you sing that way too long, you'll kill your voice. I guess their voices just grate on me because they aren't singing the right way. That annoys me about a lot of music, actually.
It kind of makes me a music snob, I guess. Better than not knowing what you like, though.

Why I don't like Rap:
I don't like Rap because there is very little musical value to it. Anyone with half a brain could get a keyboard and play the first five notes of any minor key in a descending pattern, put it with a generic drum beat and set it to a bunch of morally reprehensible rhyming.
Plus the music revolves around the lyrics. BIG no no. Especially when the music revolves around the lyrics revolving around having sex with prostitutes and doing cocaine and stuff. Music should be first and foremost, not lyrics.
Why I don't like Country:
It's that annoying "A-hyuk" voice and the twangy guitars. That is all.
I'd listen to Rap before I'd listen to Country, but saying that I'd listen to either is a really big stretch. It's like choosing between getting hit in the chest with a jackhammer of having a rusty nail driven through your foot.

I don't know really... I would think if you lived in say, Tennessee there'd be a lot more people that say they do like Country ^_^ And in cities where there's more an Urban influence, such as Los Angeles or New York (I live in Los Angeles) they DO like Rap because I hear if blasting from most cars and houses wink

Rap is wherever you go. I live, quite literally, on the "other side of the railroad tracks" from my school, which is in a neigborhood much more well off than mine. If you don't listen to rap there, loudly and with the windows of your car down, you're not cool. This is in Ohio, in a place affectionately known as Cowtown. Generally speaking, though, you'd probably be right, speaking from what you see. ^_^

I don't hate rap or country. I like some songs, but not a lot of them. I guess it's because most rap music is about some guy getting shot in the head and the next day he gets rich because he slept with some hoes. And for country music, it's not my type. :/

all_black Mitshiko i dislike rap music because most of it covers the same thing...its always about these bitches, and my moneh...and my carz...and my hoes...all this crap is always the same thing...its always about "rags to riches" just different wording and ever more ignorant "rappers" yep 3nodding rap is all just about boobies and bling-bling and money and sex. well, ok, there might be some rappers that make ok music, but really just a few... Just what these two said, and sadly, rap is very popular around where I live

I don't like rap because the majority of the songs are sexual in content and that turns me way off, and the language too. Country cuz it's too, 'whiney'. That's just my opinion and why I don't like them.

To be honest, I skipped reading everyone else's opinions because I am in a hurry.
Well, my response is that you are ALWAYS going to find someone that hates this genre or that. All are loved and hated. I, personally, like heavy metal, old-ish rock, ska, industrial, punk (not good charlotte *bleep*, The Adicts, The Misfits, The Bravery, DK), and I like SOME rap, pop, and country. I grew up with country, so I like some of it. I hate the whole overly patriotic thing. I like only the good underground rap. Amen Riccs is my man!!! But, most of mainstream really sucks because it is all the same. Pop isn't all that bad. I mean, I still like Pink. Christina Aguilara isn't all that bad (but a hell of a lot is horrible). I liked beautiful.
