Rai gave a chuckle as Ryll discribed her dad. "Is he really or do you just say that?" He asked with good intention. "He seemed to trust you. Must think your very responsible and powerful enough to take care of your self no?"
Rai listened as she talked about her father liking to watch the day sky and her the night. He looked up at the sky to see what she had been watching. It was a nice night and the stars where everywhere. He felt bad for disturbing her so he glanced around than spoke again. "Would you follow me?"

Ryl just shrugged. It was one thing to describe another person, but something else entirely when you met them. She was pretty sure that if Rai ever met Shen, he'd agree that lazy was a fairly accurate label.
Then, when Rai made his request, she raised an eyebrow. "Follow you," she asked. "Are we talking to the edge of the plains, in circles just to be moving while we talk, or something else entirely?"

Rai had started moving than turned back to look at her. "I was thinking to the edge or somewhere near by. I want to make it up to you for ruining your peaceful night watching the sky." He said in an apologetic way. He normally didn't explain himself but he felt that he should at this point and time. Maybe it would give him the results he wanted instead of annoying him.

Ryl sighed gustily as she stood up, and though she didn't complain her movements were of one doing another a great favor. It wasn't as if a walk didn't sound nice, and she would easily watch the stars and move at the same time in this vast expanse. She just wanted to establish that just cause she was going along with what Rai said it didn't mean she couldn't have refused him as well.
And maybe she would have, if she didn't know he had somewhere to be and they might as well walk if they were going to chat.
"So how far do you have to travel, anyway," she asked, picking up on her line of thought.

Rai turned and started to lead her where he wanted her to go. He could see in the distance a nice rock grouping that they could climb and get closer to the stars. Surely she would enjoy that view even more since she would be closer right? He hoped so.
"I honestly dont know. Sometimes I have to travel far and bring her back or she will end up meeting me half way. You never know, its like she is the wind or something,"He commented about his sister in a goodish sort of way.

((They're gonna be in an area a lot like this, with slightly taller grass. Not a ton of rocks, and those won't be very tall. Just to let you know : ) ))Ryl sighed. "I still don't really get why you keep having to drag her butt back anyway, if she keeps wandering off. I mean you gotta cut the apron strings and let your kids live their own lives eventually, right?"
The thing about apron strings had been confusing to her even when her dad explained it, but she at least figured the general gist of the saying. Hopefully it was common enough that Rai got it as well.
She gast a silver-eyed gaze ahead, trying to figure their destination. Nothing but more grass and some mountains this way. Maybe the occasional rock, but the really big ones wouldn't get common until you got close to the mountain. Though if her eyes and the pattern of wind and grain weren't deceiving her, there looked to be a small rock up ahead that would place them about level with the top of the grass.

"I'm sure they will in time or once they have kits again their attention will be totally focused on them instead of us. We generally take it as a sign that they love us even if it annoys us....well ok it just annoys the hell out of me i'm not sure about my siblings." He mused as he semi-thought about it.
As they walked to the rock that was in the grass he stopped and turned to ask, "Would you like to stop here or continue on?"

Ryl shrugged, both at Rai's statement about family and about his question. "If we're going to be chatting I'd rather walk," she said. "It feels more natural to be in motion when I'm speaking."
She slowed her pace just a tad, in case Rai decided he wanted to counter-argue and veer for the rock himself. She didn't think he'd do that, but he seemed impatient and tempermental enough that she wasn't sure it was in his entire to give others their way all the time. Or maybe it was, and he just enjoyed having something to grump about.
"Well I know my dad would be properly horrified if I brought grandkits to visit him. He said he was so glad that I outgrew my hyper stage quickly for a kit, cause I was driving him to within an inch of just throwing himself in a lake just for some peace!" She chuckled at that. She must have been really bad, to make Shen utter such a dramatic statement. She couldn't personally remember, most of her kit days were a blur.

Rai looked from the rock to Ryl and back before following Ryl. If she wanted to walk and talk they would since he had messed up her night but he would find a place while they walked to give her a good view of the sky it was the least he could do. "Ok."
He laughed about her being hyper. It was funny to picture in his head for some reason. "Would he really be horrified if you came home with kits or more shocked by the action that you found someone to have kits with?" He asked pondering. He could see it go both ways. "Or is he afraid that your kids will be as hyper as you were suppose-of-ly"

Ryl thought about Rai's question for a moment. "Well we're a lot alike in our approaches to love," she started. "Most people think we're almost emotionless, but really we just hide a lot behind the surface. So I don't think it would surprise him that I would have kids, or that I would show up with them in tow." She gave a bark of a laugh. "He would probably gripe about me not giving him any kind of warning, though!"
That led her to the second part of the question, and as her laugh died a wide grin took it's place. "As for anything hyper, it depends on his mood. He'd either lie there like a fur-covered climbing rock, or hide in a tree. He's actually a very good climber."
This last bit has surprised Ryl a time or two. Even though she knew her dad best, his lazy front still left her staring at him in amazement when he pulled off some particular feat of physical prowess or another that she thought him incapable of.
Now she turned to look at Rai again. "What about you," she asked. "What would your family do if you come wandering back home one day with kids in tow?"

Rai listened contently as they walked. For some reason he felt at peace and was enjoying their conversation, which was something he hadn't been able to do since he was a kit. A slow smile spread a crossed his muzzle as he listened. He could tell her family was interesting in a different way than his.
He blinked and thought for a moment at her question. "I really don't know how they would react. I've never really thought about have kids to even ponder the thought of how my parents would be about them." he paused as he thought about it. "I'm sure my mother and siblings would be fine about it. I think my father would worry if its from a crackbreeding and if we are all cursed to crackbreed at least once in our life but other than that I'm sure he would accept the kits....the fox that I had the kits with might be another story."

Ryl paused for a minute in their walking to stretch out her front legs. "Hmmm. Well I was born through a "crack breeding", as you call it, so knocking it would be knocking my own existance. I rather enjoy being alive, so I think I'll refrain." She flashed a quick, cheeky grin, then continued walking.
"I don't get that, though. My father wouldn't care about the person I had children with. I mean, he trusts that I'm an adult now and can make my own decisions, and if I like the other parent of my children enough to introduce them then he'd play nice. It's just like introducing a friend to the family, the only difference is you had a night of wild fun and now you've got wild little bundles of energy as a price."
Ryl slowed her pace a tad so she could look up at the sky while still walking. Was the concept of children with someone other than a lifemate really so odd to other?

"Thats how he had his first set of kids was from crack breeding. He loves his kids but didn't like their mother. From what i hear from my older half siblings she can be annoying sometimes," He stated nonchalantly.
Rai followed close behind her, his gaze jumping from the sky to her lovely backside. " Its always hard to tell with my father what he will think or do. My mother doesn't care as long as we are safe and happy. Father is just really protective. But mom always puts him in his place which is funny to watch."
He stopped as she stopped and tilted his head wondering what had made her stop.

Ryl hadn't stopped, she was simply moving slower now. Perhaps the pace must have been too slow for Rai though, for he stopped and gave her a questioning look. Ryl stopped and looked down from the sky at him. "Was just moving slower so I could look up and not trip over my feet," she explained.
Now she mulled over the information he had given her. "Huh. Well to be honest my dad doesn't even know my mom. They met like, once, and she flew off the handle at him for something that wasn't his fault. He says he's glad she didn't insist they become a couple since they had kids together, she was just "too troublesome" for him to handle."
Ryl smiled a little, recalling the exhasperated voice Shen had spoken in, giving one of his famous phrases. "But anyway Mom and my sister were never really part of my life, so I couldn't even begin to guess what it's like to have siblings and a mother. Dad says I'm not missing out on much, Mom's are so bossy."
Ryl's expression became wistful, and she looked back at the sky, now that they had stopped. "He had his liar face on when he said it though, so I think he was just trying to make me feel better."

" No thats fine," He said while shaking his head. He hadn't meant to make her answer him as if he was questioning her actions he was just a little curios thats all.
"Thats what it was like with my dads first set of kids but their mother annoyed the hell out of my dad and pissed him and my aunt off. Dad didn't want anything to do with her and she the same but the had a mutual agreement to make sure their kids were ok." he walked so that he was more next to her than behind her.
Rai laughed about her dad saying mothers were bossy. "Well if it makes you feel any better it wasn't a straight out lie. Moms are bossy but so are dads. They both aren't always bossy but they are because they are older and want whats best for us,"he cracked a grin.
