How not new are you?

"Oh, fairly not new, I suppose. I'm a super senshi now, though I haven't been a senshi for very long. I guess... it comes at a different time for everyone? I don't know - I haven't met anyone else who has... upgraded, for lack of a better word." explained the gray-haired senshi. She could see Grus mulling over her tattered fuku with a bit of an inquisitive look on her face. That was understandable. Kallichore had a hard time coming to terms with it when she first saw it too, especially all the white, but now she'd grown attached to it, odd buckles and all.

The super senshi followed alongside Grus at a leisurely pace. There weren't any enemies nearby, so they were safe to take their time and chat. "I'm glad the cat went into detail with you. The more information, the better." She made a few exasperated gestures. Kallichore didn't hold Derpraline accountable for her own missing information; on the contrary, she thought Derp did the best the kitten could do, given her limitations. "It's understandable to be freaked out. I mean, how else would you react when a talking cat tells you that you're party to a war to protect humanity? I doubt anyone would take that lightly."

Truth be told, her own induction was rather rough too, but she was more of the introspective type. She did her freaking out behind closed doors. And speaking of spheres... "Feathers? Is that how you make the barrier?"

Super? What the heck does super mean?

Grus supposed that meant that she had gotten a new attack or something, and her suspicion was confirmed as Kallichore continued to talk. So they upgraded did they? She figured it would be a long time before she upgraded, but the thought of getting a new attack made her slightly happier. Maybe this one would do some good!

"Yeah I definitely didn't think anything like this could happen." She said "But then again, who freaking does?" The road was quit. And the few people that were on it didn't seem to notice two girls in funny costumes walking down the sidewalk. If they did, they probably would have assumed it was some party they weren't invited to.

Which was partially true. If you consider fighting monsters and bad guys with magic a party.

She sighed and said "Yeah, that's how. I have a defensive move I guess. It's kinda a pain when you can't fight other ways.." She trailed off, feeling embarrassed again.

Kallichore shook her head and heaved a quiet sigh. The expression certainly wasn't one of disdain, just one of internal retrospection. "Mine's defensive too. Nothing wrong with having a defensive attack. Don't they say something like, 'the best offense is a good defense'? Or did I get that backwards? Eh, I don't know." She shrugged, the tendrils of her outfit flailing in the wind. She looked a fright, just like she always did. Somehow, that was comforting to Kallichore. It meant she was in her element of sorts.

"Either way, at least you don't have to wait to be hit to react. The one who helped me? She couldn't do a thing until someone else beat her around first. She could mimic someone's attack, but only if she got hit with it and survived. How awful is that?"

At least Grus could henshin in the evening and thank her star/moon/whatever a Grus was that she didn't have to be bitchslapped before doing some bitchslapping herself. "But whatever the case may be, you just do what you have to in order to keep yourself and other people safe. If you're not comfortable with this position yet, don't push yourself." Kallichore probably should have taken her own advice, but truth be told, she loved being a senshi. It gave her life some meaning.

Grus looked back at Kallichore, thinking hard. Why on earth would anyone want or get a move that meant you had to be hit first? What if the move killed you!? She pondered the phrase she had said. The best offense was a good defense? It sounded about right. She hadn't grown into her power yet, but she held onto a hope that maybe when she got better at being a senshi, she would get an attack that was more offensive, just in case this whole hand to hand fighting didn't work out.

"That sounds absolutely awful." She agreed, nodding. "What was she the senshi of? Mirrors? Reflection? Copycatting?" Grus didn't know what could or could not be a power sphere, but they all sounded logical in her mind.

"Who picks the power spheres?" She asked, knowing the answer was going to be one she didn't want. That was like asking who was in charge of what color your hair was, or how tall you were going to be.

She supposed she could have taken Kallichore's advice and chilled on the being a senshi thing until she was more comfortable. But when did she take advice? Mostly never. Her way of mastering something was to dive in. Completely.

They were a couple blocks from her house, the businesses gone and replaced with cookie cutter houses that formed the Loon Lake housing development. This one was right next to her street, thankfully not cookie cutter houses. Her house sat on Willowbark Drive, but she often cut through the housing development to save time.

Kallichore nodded in thorough agreement. She felt truly sorry for Albali, and Albali knew the situation was all kinds of messed up. The super senshi didn't once envy her in the least. She was thankful that her power, while not offensive, could be fired off at a moment's notice. She didn't have to wait to be attacked before she could react. That was a terrible position to be in. "It was awful. I forget what she said she was the senshi of specifically... none of those sound right, though. Mimicry? Hmm. I don't remember. That night was rather... interesting, as I'm sure you know."

Oh boy, did Grus have Derp on top of that? Kallichore didn't think so. That was a blessing in and of itself. But her question was a good one - one Kallichore wasn't sure she knew the answer to, but she had a theory. "I once thought it had something to do with your personality, some fundamental portion of the self," she started, gesturing as she spoke. "but Albali kind of dashed that theory because she hated her sphere, or at least how it worked, so I would assume that whole situation would rule out my theory. Other than that, I have no idea. I think I'll do some more research on that."

As they passed houses that all looked the same, Kallichore had a thought. "You know... have you been to space yet?"

Hmmm...It wasn't any of those? "Maybe Encore?" She wonder aloud, thinking back to the pokemon games she had stashed in her dresser drawer. That move would make the opponent repeat its previous move. Maybe this Albali is like a human Ditto!

"If the sphere comes form a fundamental part of us, I wonder what mine is trying to tell me." She said with little amusement. "My battle cry as ********* called it is -I'm the feather weight champion- Apparently I am a lightweight!" She finished, laughing.

The thought of space confused her into silence. "Space? We can go to space?" She instantly imagined herself floating about the space above earth in her fuku. "Isn't that like....not airy...?" Her word choice was awful, and she knew it, but she hoped Kallichore would get the idea anyway.

Kallichore, unfortunately, didn't know a thing about Pokemon. She wasn't a gamer (she found that it was a waste of time usually) so the joke about Dittos and whatnot went right over her head. She blinked at Grus with a strange look on her face until her next statement made her react. "Ah, so you have a battle cry too? I don't know how that comes to us. Mine seemed kind of silly, but appropriate I guess. If I have any breakthroughs in that department, can I call you?"

With a flip of her wrist, just like Europa showed her, a crimson cellphone appeared in Kallichore's hand. She raised it to aim it at Grus. "There we are. Now I have your information. You don't mind if I call you, do you? You can do the same for me - I don't mind." Flipping the case open, she revealed the button that would send the user into space, just like Europa had explained. Europa was a wealth of information, she decided.

With a curt nod, Kallichore began explaining. "Yes, we are tied to the celestial body of our name, our birth as well. Mine is a moon of Jupiter. Rather small, no one's heard of it, but that's alright. It's my moon." When Grus asked about the lack of air, Kallichore chuckled. "Oh, don't worry. I asked the same exact thing when it was explained to me. You can go into space without oxygen. I don't know how the mechanic works but you can breathe when you go up there. My theory is that it has something to do with your fuku. But I digress... if you want to travel to Grus, you press this button here... and concentrate. You'll soon find yourself there before you know what happened. It's unreal."

After a moment, the super senshi frowned as if in thought. "Though... my first time was rather overwhelming. I definitely believe we used to live up there before we came to Earth."

Her eyes widened as the phone appeared in Kallichore's hand. Did she literally mean calling her? She flinched when she aimed the phone at her.

"Do I have a phone too?" She asked, trying to mimic the movement she did. It was a flick of the wrist, and apparently took time to master. Her face creased into a frown when no cell phone magically came into being. Maybe that was her real phone and she was some kind of magician. How strange would that be?

"You can definitely call me...if I ever...oh!" A phone fell into her hand, and she stared at it in surprise. It was a slide phone, crimson on top and fading to white at the bottom. Etched in silver on the faceplate were feathers that sparkled a bit when she turned the phone over. She opened it, examining the buttons. "Well, I guess I have one now!" She said, smiling sheepishly. Her eyes then focused on Kallichore as she explained one particular button. The one that, when pressed, would send her to space.

"But Grus is a constellation." She said, frowning again despite her excitement. "How do you land on a constellation? And who lived there? I definitely was born on earth!"

The thought of leaving earth behind and travelling to another planet threatened to break her brain. This was all so intense for her! She rubbed her temple with her free hand, saying "I don't know how anyone expects me to remember all of this." she complained, with a small hint of a whine "It's so much to think about! And I have a real life too!"

The gray haired senshi chuckled slightly, waving her hand in front of her face. "That's essentially how I received my phone. Lots of wrist-flicking until something actually appeared. You can do the same with your henshin pen if you are so inclined. Europa taught me about that and about space." Grus had a good question though - how does one land on a constellation? Kallichore was lucky that her moon was quite solid and she didn't want to worry about landing on a giant ball of burning gas. How one would land on it, she wasn't sure. Surely there was some other way?

"Ah... well... Jupiter is a gas giant and yet we somehow held court there. I didn't get a good look at it when I went up to my moon, I mean, aside from it being almost half the sky. Maybe there's a structure inside it or around it? How many stars does your constellation have?" The super senshi was quite curious now, and interested to know how much information the constellation's representative may have. Poor Grus though, overwhelmed already.

Kallichore sighed. "Mm... maybe I should have phrased that differently. Our past selves were born out there. We here in this present time were born on Earth. I hope that makes sense?" Speaking existentially was probably not the way to go with brand new senshi. Terrible idea. "You don't have to remember all of this. Take it slowly. I had to concentrate on not failing junior year because I took on too much with being a senshi. Moderation in all things." With a decisive nod, they continued walking. Jeez, now I sound like a self-help book.

Their past selves? So like, past lives. Ok, so she was the reincarnation of a magical super hero that lived in a society that floated above a star in the constellation of Grus.

If she wasn't wearing her fuku right now, she would think she had finally lost her mind.

"Uhhhm, I think there are four." At least, that's what she had found when she Wiki'd Grus after returning home from her awakening. Well, everything else in this new world was based around magic of some kind. "Maybe they just held it together with magic." She said, shrugging. Now that she knew she could visit this place, she was equally parts excited and nervous. What if something went wrong? What if there were giant man eating beasts on her planet?

Maybe that's why they decided to send her to earth.

"So your space place is a moon of Jupiter. That must be cool." She said thoughtfully, nearly missing the fact that they were one her street. She stopped and blinked a couple times, saying "Oh! Well apparently all this space talk had passed the time more than I thought!"

She gave Kallichore a smile. "Maybe I'll have to visit Grus sometime. If it's not totally lame I'll find you and you can check out my ooooollllldddd home." She laughed lightly, feeling much better than before. It was almost like the longer it sat in her brain, the more sense everything made.

Kallichore placed her hands on her hips and shifted her weight from side to side. "Ah, well, I'm glad I could help, for what it's worth. Maybe you call tell me how Grus works when it's all said and done?" Whether or not the new senshi would ever see Kallichore again was another matter, but she was learning the ropes at a good pace. She wasn't freaking out over all the new information. Grus had to learn it all at some point anyway - better to learn it from someone friendly than from an enemy, when information could be easily manipulated.

Somewhere on this street must've been Grus' house, though Kallichore had no idea which one it was. The super senshi stayed on the sidewalk and looked to Grus. "Well... shall we call it a night?" she asked quietly. Flicking open her cellphone, she made sure Grus was registered in it. "Feel free to call me anytime, especially if you get in trouble. I'll do my best to help."

For some reason, Grus was almost like a student to Kallichore in her mind, and she felt a certain obligation to the younger senshi. Perhaps because Christa could see herself so easily in Grus' shoes. She was in the same position not too long ago, and she could not afford to ever forget what it was like to be new. Everyone had to start at the bottom and work their way up.

Grus smiled warmly at Kallichore, her first senshi friend. "I'll defintely letcha come along! I just gotta figure out how to get there first!"

Castille was happy that Kallichore had come along. She was beginning to think that this senshi business wasn't as bad or as confusing as she thought when she first henshined up. The fact that she was so nice to her make Grus think that one day, she too could be a teacher.

"Yeah my house is down this road." She said. She didn't point out which one. Nice or not, she was still drawn to keep her identity a secret. After all, that's what real superheros did right?

"All I want is a nap right now." Se said, laughing quietly. She didn't want any of her neighbors waking up and some of them had very large ears (metaphorically of coarse...except for Mr. Arnold. His were like frisbees!)

Grus too opened her phone and aimed it at Kallichore, making sure her information was set. "Ill give you a call!"" She reassured, giving Kallichore a wave. "And if I see you in civilian form, well, I wont recognize you, but maybe we'll be friends!"

Then she stared walking down the street, weariness finally kicking in.

Once Grus was on her way down the street, Kallichore shook her head and chuckled. "You know, if I didn't know any better, I'd say I was envious of her plucky attitude." A deep and contented sigh escaped her then and the super senshi turned around, intent on heading to her own home. Grus was right - if they did see each other in civilian form, they wouldn't know it. But at least they could be friends as senshi.
