"Of course, I'm always okay," he grinned, but his sharp, dark eyes followed her hand movement suspiciously. If she wasn't hurt, why was she trying to hide the fact that she was favoring her side.
He hadn't seen her get hit there, but again he hadn't seen the whole fight.
He grinned at her. There were a lot of things that a senshi had to figure out. Carrying their phone was one of them. He, however, was here for the battle lessons, and he thought it was funny to leave her with something to figure out on her own, anyway. He just wasn't that helpful a guy, when he didn't want to be.
"Chaonis. Good job on the fight. I mean, you're going to need to learn to get a lot more focused and keep your confidence up, but at least now you know that youma are essentially punching bags. Never be afraid of a youma: they like it when you are. They can be powerful, but if you're smart you can always beat them. And if the brain thing fails, now you've got my number."
He grinned again, though this time it wasn't cocky or teasing.
"Call me any time you want another lesson. I'm not always going to just drop in when you most need it. I'm not some damn guardian angel." He laughed. He had hardly been anything like that: he barely helped her with the actual fight. He just goaded her, mostly, but he still took credit for the win.

With the scan finished, Pasiphae closed her phone, giving a smile and a nod when she heard that her companion was unhurt. She was going to reach for her purse again when Chanois introduced himself, but she paused, coloring a little at his compliment peppered with further critiques. She tried to keep her composure and be professional as she responded, "I'll work on those areas. I'm still... trying to get used to all this, so I really do appreciate all you've taught me. I feel better knowing that there's something I can do against them."
She actually laughed along with her companion at his final statement, the sound a mixture of amusement and relief. "No, as thankful as I am that you were here... I wouldn't call you an angel, Chanois." Then, in a slightly more serious tone, she reassured him, "I'll call if anything comes up. Likewise, if you think I might be helpful, please don't hesitate to call me."

The Senshi of Danger was always one to take praise and credit, even when it wasn't actually due. So when she thanked him, he just grinned at her in a way that said he knew he had taught her something important.
And she totally owed him one.
But in the end, she had done well and she deserved to feel good about it. He felt the same of himself, of course, but he always did well as far as he was concerned. He nodded his head and even offered her his hand for a parting handshake.
"That's a deal."
He considered this a wrap. A very successful training night and a new senshi to keep an eye out for. Silently, he made sure he remembered them, or at least got them in his phone, not just to follow up on them and mock the hell out of them if he thought they weren't doing well enough. They were his teammates, and the newbies needed the chance to become stronger. He didn't want to let them get themselves killed.
But that was all subconscious for now. He often shoved things that were too serious or responsible out of his mind.

Pasiphae shook Chaonis's hand willingly and warmly, ignoring the dust that stained her gloves. She was grateful, beyond grateful, to have met him and learned from him, and she meant what she had said before. She would call him if she need help, and she was certain that she would. She did not know... well, ]any other Senshi, and making a connection with this one let her know that, despite her doubts, despite how new she was to all of this... that someone would be there to help her.
It also gave her an added sense of responsibility; she wasn't just in charge of herself anymore, and she wasn't just going to be helping civilians. Now Chaonis, and other Senshi like him, were relying on her, could call on her... and she needed to be sure that she could answer that call. She promised herself that she would.
She released his hand and began to walk away, hiding her wince from the other Senshi and just wanting to go home and re-wrap her aching side. She did not want to say goodbye... because she was certain that she would meet her fellow Senshi again.

Chaonis watched her go, still not convinced she was fine as she was asserting. Injured, definitely, but that came with the job. As long as she kept herself alive and able to fight, she would be effective. And he would make sure of that, of course.
He let her leave though, folding his arms over his chest for a while before he moved to leave in the opposite direction.
This feeling of accomplishment that always followed a successful meeting or training session was getting fairly addicting. Maybe it also tied into the thrill that he had finally found something that was his to control, that he could do however he wanted, whenever he wanted, and with his own methods. His attitude didn't have to change. People didn't even have to like him.
And that was awesome.
