Bellezza's head almost dropped upon the ground. She felt so lost, so scared. Her eyes flickered along the forest. She didn't recognize this area... It was so... dense, and scary. She wasn't sure what was going on. She wanted to go home, she wanted to be curled back up with her mother. A small whimper slipped past her throat, before she felt her body trembling. It was almost as if even if she wanted to stop it, they would just grow stronger. Bellezza hated this fear, she hated being away from her family. She wanted to go home!

Her head tilted up to the female, staring quietly. Her head ducked again, Bellezza looked away, not sure what to say to that. Stay with her? Stay... Here? She couldn't stay here. She needed to go home. She needed to go back to her father and mother, and say sorry for sneaking away from them. She needed to go home and hide behind her father, and never move away again. But as much as she wanted to, she wasn't sure if she would ever get the chance to do so.

Bellezza's purple orbs flickered, watching the female turn her back. Standing as quickly as she could manage, Bellezza started moving as fast as her little legs could take her, running in the only direction she could think of, the way she thought they had come, her head down, white hair falling into her face as she moved. She heard the question, but didn't want to turn around, brush slowing her already. If Sophia took great chase, there was no way Bellezza could outrun her, she'd be captured for sure. So, the tiny foal tried to find a way to hide, ducking into the brush she could get to. Please don't let her find me... Please.... She thought, eyes closing as she moved.

Charlotte turned wide eyes to Devicius, moving closer to him and trying her best to calm down, but it wasn't easy when sudden panic was raging through your mind because your baby girl was missing and possibly taken from her comfort. "Devicius, what of Evangeline and Dhiren?" A torn feeling happened inside her, bringing on new tears. If they both left to look for Bellezza then the other two would be left alone and the may end up in the same predicament. Logic was setting in and she didn't see how they both could look for Belle without worrying about the other two. "The two of us going would be impractical. There is no one we can run to to have watch the other two." She closed her eyes, a small hiccup worked its way out as she choked back more tears.

Sophia's eyes narrowed when she noticed that her words had been spoken to an empty spot on the leaf-littered ground. Whereas her anger had been sated by the blood of the small animal, now it returned tenfold. How could she have been so stupid, taking her eyes off the foal like that? Of course Bell would have tried to escape... who wouldn't? Foals were simple like that, they'd take any chance they got to get what they wanted.

Too bad. She hadn't wanted to expend any more of her energy, but now she'd have to chase the fool. At least she was bigger and faster--she should be able to find her without trouble. She lifted her head, catching the smell of fear in the direction that they had come. Ah, so she went that way!

Sophia took off, the blood running down her chin as the air beat at her face. Her hair flopped angrily, her adornments slapped against her sides, but she paid no heed to them. Her mind was set on one thing: Bellezza. And that tiny foal would pay for the trouble that Sophia had to go through!

She could find Bell's path with a small effort--there was a broken twig there, trampled ground there, fallen leaves there. The foal was so desperate for escape that she was forgetting to conceal her messy trail! Soon, the smell was stronger, hinting that the foal was not far ahead. Sophia halted, her eyes searching the dark woods, a smile coming to her face.

"Come now, Bell! You don't want to leave so soon, do you? Come out, come out, wherever you are!" Sophia had to admit, the filly was a good hider. However, the tiniest bit of white gave her away. Even though the brush concealed her tiny body nicely, the moonlight that sifted through the forest canopy danced upon the tiny spot of exposed hide like quicksilver, giving her position up. Sophia laughed, quietly drifting over to the spot, until she was close enough to strike.

"You foolish little girl!" She shouted, then reared, her bright hooves aimed for that small patch of pinkish-white. The strike wouldn't be enough to kill, but it would definitely teach her a lesson.

Devicius looked to the two other children, still sleeping, but moving restlessly, no doubt stirred by the heightened voices of their parents. What Charlotte said was true--they couldn't both go after Bell. Someone had to stay and watch the other two. Yet, the longer they stood here freaking out, the more danger Bell could be getting into. And Devicius had a feeling that she was in danger.

He lowered his voice, trying to bring some calm into his words. "You're right, my love. I shall go--I can fly, if need be, And, if the attacker is female, I... I can charm her into falling for me. That way... well, that way she wouldn't be as hard to sidetrack." He hated saying those words. He hated thinking that he'd have to use his Angeni power of allure, but no matter how cheesy it sounded, it might be worth a shot, if the conditions were right.

"Stay here, Charlotte. Watch our children, and keep them safe. Will you do this?" He touched his nose to hers, giving her his strength, and yet taking strength from her unconditional love.

Bellezza whimpered softly, before quieting herself. She settled down in the brush, her ears back, head tilting from one way to the other, trying to ensure she was hidden well enough not to be seen. The brush was thick, or for her it was, and she was trying to duck down as best as possible. Her body was bright though, and she knew this, but maybe she would get lucky enough to hide in the best way possible. She wasn't going to let herself be taken again. She couldn't! Her papa and mama wouldn't be able to save her if she was.

But the noise of the mare caught her attention, and the small filly tried to hide again. She bit her lip, shaking somewhat, ducking and moving back as best as she could. But it didn't work very well. She saw the hoof, but didn't move fast enough. Letting out a cry of pain, loud enough to startle the birds that were sleeping into flying off with sharp caws, Bellezza stumbled back and out of the brush, shaking her head, blood running down her small shoulder and along her arm.

Her head tilted to stare at the wound on her shoulder, more tears collecting in her eyes. She cried quietly, whimpering, her tail wiggling somewhat in distress, lifting the injured shoulders leg off the ground and shook her head again. Her purple eyes lifted to stare toward her half sister, sniffling and shaking her head, trying to back up again, but unable to really do so, not wanting to put pressure on the leg that had the injury over it. She sniffled and laid her ears back fully against her head. "I... I want... my papa... and my mama... Leave me alone!" She cried.

Charlotte nodded mutely, no longer trusting herself to speak in protest. She nuzzled Devicius, unintentionally wiping a few tears on his pristine coat. "Be careful my love, bring my baby and your self safely back to me." She whispered into his chest, not trusting her voice above that of a whisper. She reluctantly backed away from him, more tears streaking her face. "Please...please be careful. I-I love you." She shut her eyes tightly against the emotions and tears that were attacking her, though forcing them open, wanting to watch Devicius until she could no longer see him.

Sophia grinned as the filly let out a cry, knowing that her strike had prevailed. She watched as Bell slowly revealed herself, tears streaming, leg lifted off the ground to reveal a fresh wound upon her tiny shoulder. Ah, poor thing. That would turn into one nasty scar... there was no chance she'd be beautiful now. Not that Sophia thought she ever had a chance.

Her smile slowly grew into a frown, and the bloodlust in her gut swiftly died, like an extinguished flame. Enough with this play and time-wasting. She needed to find her way back home, though now she wasn't quite sure were that was. Well, at least if she was lost, whoever might follow would have a hard time following them.

"Stop crying, you little weakling. You're not going home, any time soon. If you ever see either of your parents again, it will be because they've come to find you. Are you that important, little Bell? Do you think your parents actually care so much about you that they'd come looking for you? Believe me, parental love is overated." She sighed, shaking her head, stomping a hoof upon the ground. "They don't care about their children--children are just the mistakes of love. You'll find out soon enough--all they care about is themselves." Her mind drifted back to the story of her parents, told by Ignis. Hatred, betrayal, guilt, abandonment. She wouldn't admit it, but it wounded her more than any physical pain would. And, because it had ruined her life, she would make sure to ruin her father's.

"Get going. We've a long way to go." And with that, she pushed the filly forward, towards no direction, but simply to move. She had to keep her mind occupied, lest the voices arise again.

Devicius gave his mate one last loving look, trying to bring courage to his eyes. "I love you too, Charlotte. I will back, and I will bring Bell with me. Take care, my star." And with that, he turned and took off, his mane bouncing against his side in a careless motion. Years ago, he would have never done this. He wouldn't have cared, wouldn't have wanted to mess up his appearance. But he had a family now, one that he loved, and that changed everything.

He caught her scent, his tiny, beautiful daughter's, and the scent of something else: dangerous, lustful, and terrifyingly familiar. But he threw suspicion out of his mind and simply gave himself to the night, following the scent deep into the woods. He would find her, and he would bring her home.

'Hold on Bell! I'm coming!' he thought, and disappeared into the darkness of the night-shrouded forest.

Shaking out her head, Bellezza tried to back up away from the female. But every time she put her hoof down, a sharp pain seemed to streak from her leg, straight down to her spine and tingled along her entire body. She let out a small whimper, shaking her head again, trying to see through the tears. She didn't like this at all. She didn't want any of this. She wanted to go home to her mother and father! She wanted to curl up with her siblings and play a game!

"I don't want to! I want to go ho-" She was cut off by the ushering to move forward, letting out a small cry of pain and limped ahead, her head lowering. If she could, her tail would have been between her legs. Her ears pinned back, she peered over her shoulder with a scared, yet somewhat angry look in her eyes. She shook out her mane again, before one of her legs somewhat buckled under the pressure of only using three. She had to force herself back up, which took more effort than she thought it would.

The words slowly processed into her mind. She thought it over for several seconds, before stopping her movements, staring at the ground. Her ears flicked at any noise that seemed to come from the darkness. Tilting her head, she sniffled, before turning her head toward the female. ".... I'm sorry someone hurt you... But that doesn't mean you can hurt someone else! I didn't do anything to you! And my papa and mama love me! You're just a bully! Papa and Mama will come save me from you, you meany! Just wait! I'll be home before sunup!" She stated, a somewhat strong feel in her voice, before she started to limp forward once more.

Her head lowered, Bellezza sniffled quietly as she moved, her eyes flickering across the dark forest. She knew saying something like that was probably a horrible mistake, but she was upset and distressed and even a little angry now. Her parents did love her! They told her that every night! So they would come, and she knew it. Her eyes flickering, she stopped suddenly, eyes having to backtrack and lock on something moving in the brush not far off. What if it was that monster? But somehow, Bellezza didn't think the mare would have a mate. Her eyes focusing, even though she knew she was going to be forced forward again, she saw the flashes of orange against an almost white body, and had to double-take in order to make sure she was right, before her voice flew from her muzzle before she could stop it.

"Papa! Papa, over here!" She cried. Bellezza didn't care if she was imagining it or not, if there was a chance that her father was there, she was going to call out to him, even if it was just a fox or something.

(Doing this in a little story-telling order to make it easier)

Devicius heard her voice before he could see her--the tiny, lovely soprano was music to his ears at this point. He had followed their scent the best that he could, running blindly through the woods, no doubt looking like a mad horse. He'd have to exercise a bit more if everything turned out alright after this ordeal, for his muscles already ached from the long run and his breaths were short and raspy. Then again, perhaps his age was beginning to show. He had thought he'd be young forever, but perhaps he was wrong.

He crashed through the remaining brush, his wings folded tightly against his sides to allow him easier passage. The sight that met his eyes brought him to a swift, jaw-jarring halt. There was his daughter, alive and breathing, but obviously injured. His heart clenched in fear as he saw the blood running down her shoulder, and his own old scar ached with the sight. But, even more surprising, was her captor. Not a male, not even a strong, violent breed. The mare was rather young looking, with a dangerous sort of beauty about her and with delicately folding wings. He was horrified to see patches of dried blood pasted on her pristine white fur.

Suddenly, the scent hit him. And the mare's face brought back the forgotten memories of his hellish past.

"No... no. Jessamine?" He murmured, eyes wide and disbelieving. No, it wasn't Jessamine. She didn't have wings, didn't have the Angeni head feathers. But this mare had her flair, had her soft white hair and red, fierce eyes. She had the purple ribbons and the blood-stained trinkets. But... but her eyes. They were the same, eerily identical to the mare he had once known.

And then he knew why this mare was so familiar, yet still possessed differences that hinted at an Angeni parent, as well as the striking similarity between her markings, Bellezza's, and his.

A child that he had never met.

He shook himself out of his shock, heart beating a hundred miles a minute. A thousand emotions sifted through his brain, among them anger, guilt, fear, and disbelief. However, the strongest was the fear of his baby girl's predicament, and he wanted to be gone of the place as soon as possible.

"Get away from her, you monster! You've no purpose with a filly like her. Release her, or I shall make you pay!"
________________________________________________________________________

Sophia took the filly's comment in stride, but it struck at her pride like a knife. What did that little fool know? She thought she'd be safe, that a miracle would happen. The voices in her whispered at the edge of her consciousness, and she almost gave in, when an elated call sounded from behind her.

Sophia spun as Bell shouted at something in the forest--her eyes searched the flickering shadows, and her heart fell when she saw the orange flash of hair from within the trees. She hadn't planned on the old man catching up with her so quickly, let alone in such a readiness to rescue the filly. She had wanted to make him suffer longer, perhaps think that Bell was dead. Actually, she would have liked to take Bell so far away that she'd never see her father again, but perhaps she should have planned it out better before she acted.

She stood in silence as he came to a halt, lifting her head in angered sophistication. Let the truth sink in--let him realize his sins. The more he suffered, the better.

Then he uttered a name, one that was not hers, but perhaps one that Ignis had mentioned once upon a time. That was her mother's name, then? Did she look like her mother? Ugh, joy. Just what she wanted, to have more in common with one of the beings that had left her and Adrian out to rot.

HOwever, despite her anger, a slow laugh began to build in her chest at her father's distress. He looked like such a fool, standing there with that gaping jaw! "Oh, do you know who I am? I know you do--your eyes tell me everything. Ah, but let me introduce myself, I don't think we've ever met." Her eyes gleamed with hared as she said this, and her laughter died. At that point, all mirth was gone, and her mood became strikingly violent. The voices caressed her anger, forming it into a little bomb that grew larger and larger, threatening to explode.

"I'm Sophia Rose. And you're my father." With this, she let her anger out and grabbed Bell's mane, jerking her around and tugging downwards, throwing her to the ground. She stood with a hoof poised above the filly's neck, ready to strike.

"You left me and my brother like we were nothing. Like we were imperfect, poison you couldn't touch. And now... now you think you're ready to raise a family? Or are you lying to them too? But really, what makes them so special that you can love them, and hate us? They're fools, ugly damned fools! And you... you're a weak, selfish, no good traitor who's only good for looking. I guess you wouldn't mind if I just erased this one from your life, now would you?"
____________________________________________________________________________

Devicius stood calmly, though his muscles were ready to spring. He flinched as she said her name, and wondered about his mentioned son. So, he had two more children, products of Jessamine, that he had never seen. Better that he hadn't--this one was no good. Half her mind was gone, he could sense it.

Then she pushed Bell down, and he jerked forward, shouting, "NO!" He growled, his own anger rising.

"Look, I would explain everything to you, but you've given me no choice. You don't deserve my love, nor anyone else's. You're the evil one here. And you will never be my daughter!" He hated to say it, but he could never love this one. Not when her eyes spoke of Jessamine's spirit. Not after what she'd done to Bell. She was a monster, and he had a feeling that it wasn't all his fault after all.

He leapt forward, crashing into the female, knocking her away from Bell. They landed with a hard thud, but he stood over her, preventing her from rising. It was HIS hoof that now rested on her throat.

"You hurt my daughter--I damn well want to show you how I feel about that. But I'll be kind, and I'll be merciful, because we do in fact share the same blood. But if I ever see you again, well... I will not show you the same mercy. As I said, you're no daughter of mine--you threatened my family, and now I must protect them."

Bellezza waited, stared as he father appeared. She almost leaped for joy, but the feeling of fear still crept along her soft furred flesh. Her father seemed startled, and it frightened her father. She tried to back up, but felt the body of the bigger mare behind her, and willed herself to stay very still. Her head lowered some, sniffling ever so slightly, before shifting her weight as best as she could. She wanted to run to her father, to beg him to take her home.

But the feel of teeth against her flesh again, and a yanking, caused the filly to cry out in pain. Bellezza writhed some, before she felt the ground beneath her. Her body shifted, letting out another cry, the smack of the ground seriously hurting the female. She tried to curl up, only to wince and freeze. Her eyes locked on that hoof, staring for several seconds, before she really cried, trying to wiggle away, shaking and closed her eyes tightly. "N-no... Please.. I wanna go home! Papa!" She cried out, wiggling still.

It took her a moment, but by the time Bellezza opened her eyes, the hoof was gone, as was the female. She rolled slightly, wincing, and forced herself to stand, her legs wobbly, body trembling. Her purple eyes flickered slightly, before locking on her father. She stared in slight horror at the sight, before slowly limping toward the two, her eyes flashing to the female, before up at her father again, bangs falling in her eyes. "Papa, no! D-Don't... She's mean... but she doesn't deserve to be hurt... right? Let's just go home... I want Mama... and Dhi... and Eve... Please?" She whispered, lowering her head.

Though she knew that Sophia had hurt her, Bellezza couldn't stand to see the other mare hurt too. Her head dropped, ashamed. Her father was angry... but Bellezza didn't want him to be. She wanted her loving, caring father who liked to teach her things back. She wanted to go home and curl up with her family, and be nuzzled by her mother, and joke with her siblings. Lifting her gaze, she looked toward her father with sad eyes, trying to beg him to just take her away from here.

Sophia stared up at her father, her enemy, with eyes full of shock and disbelief. It had all happened so quick--she'd never thought that he'd resolve to use force. He looked like such a pretty boy. Pretty boys didn't like to use their strength, right? But, all at once, her own strength drained from her muscles and she lay, quivering, with a hateful look upon her face. No doubt her coat was smeared with dirt by now. It'd take days to rub it all out... and what if Lucius wasn't pleased? Suddenly, her future seemed utterly dim.

She gathered her wits inside her, wandering why the voices were silent at this moment. For a moment, she was entirely lucid, and horridly tired. "I don't care who I am to you. I don't WANT to be your daughter. I HATE you." Her voice was as cold and sharp as acid, and she fought back sudden tears. "Even if you welcomed me back with open arms, I'd never accept you. You abandoned me and my brother, and my mother, though I'll never love her either. You're a monster, deep inside, and though you deny it, you know it. I just want you to know that. To know that you've created evil in the world, and that it was YOU who made the mistake. Live with that--suffer from it. Because I know you won't embrace it, like I do." She glared at his eyes, spat at his face.

After her small monologue, she became quiet, and turned her head to the side. She couldn't fight him, no matter how much strength her anger gave her. He was still larger, and stronger, and she had lost the fight.

"Kill me, father. If you don't, there's no guarantee I'll never see you again. Fate has the most sarcastic appetite."

________________________________________________________________________________

Devicius listened to her, quietly, dodging the small stream of spit as it flew past. He hated that she was right--that there was a small remnant of a monster inside his heart, deep, deep down where he had hidden it. It was that that had started this whole mess. But, even though his soul filled with guilt at his past, he knew that he had given it all up. He had changed, had reformed. And he would never return to what he once was--his past was dead, and his future was his family. His REAL family.

Perhaps he would have killed her, but as he said, he was merciful. He wouldn't be the monster, not this time. Bell's tiny voice sounded behind him, and his head twisted back, staring into her bright purple eyes. Pieces of Charlotte... that was his real daughter. Real, standing right before him, perhaps injured but still alive. She was the one who needed his attention, not the useless monster who lay under him.

He nodded, his voice quiet and calm. "Very well, Bell. You have a heart of gold, my daughter. Thank you." He stepped back, not even caring to look at the mare laying on the ground. She wasn't looking at him anyway--perhaps she finally felt the shame of her actions.

"I'm sorry it had to be this way, Sophia. But leave us. And don't come back. You're not welcome here." He walked over to Bell, nuzzled her neck softly and inspected her shoulder. Strange... the wound was in almost the same place as his attack from Jess had been. Just another way he and his look-alike daughter would be tied together in fate. "Oh Bell... I'm so sorry. There's a lot you're probably wondering right now, and a lot you're confused about. And... and you didn't deserve this. But I promise you, I will tell you everything, when the time comes. I... I just need to get you home. You're hurt."

He crouched down, spreading his wings so that his back was exposed. "Lay on my back. I don't want you walking home." He nudged her softly, helping her along, letting her know that he was there and focused on only her.

"Let's go home, my love. Your mother is waiting." He turned, one last time, to gaze back at where Sophia had been laying. But, to his surprise, only the empty grass met his eyes. She was gone, just as swiftly as she came.

Bellezza watched her father and half sister with sad, scared eyes. She took a timid step back for a moment, before letting out a breath of relief when her father moved away from the female. She gulped somewhat, before nodding at her father and watched him with soft eyes. Her father wasn't mean. Her father wasn't evil and a monster like Sophia said. Maybe at one point there was a time where he did something wrong. But, everyone did, right? Bellezza herself had just done something wrong, by sneaking off without her parents consent. But she wasn't a monster for it. Right?

Wincing slightly, she shook out her mane to get it from her eyes, before carefully limping over to her father. She accepted the help, easing her way carefully up onto his back, her head resting over her fathers hair some, eyes fluttering closed. She was tired, and in pain, and just wanted to go and lay down and rest or something. Maybe nuzzle up with her siblings and mother. But she didn't want to be out here any more. She wanted to go home, and relax, and not have to worry about being hurt any more. Flicking her eyes toward her father's hair, which seemed to be close to her face, Bellezza whispered quietly, unable to lift the strength to speak any louder.

"I don't think you're a monster Papa.... You don't have to explain if you don't want to... I think you just made a mistake.. You're a good papa..." She stopped to lightly nuzzle his neck, curling up as best as she could on his back. "I love you Papa... Let's go home, kay?"
PostPosted: Sun Jun 12, 2011 12:07 pm

Devicius straightened when Bell was safely situated on his back, angling his wings up to cradle her and allow her to relax more. He accepted her soft touches, letting them calm his hot head like a stream of cool water. Her voice was so soft when she spoke, so tired, that it made his heart ache in his chest to think that she had to experience such an ordeal. But he would make it up to her, any way she chose. He just needed to get her home.

"Thank you, Bell..." he whispered back, walking slowly back the way they had come. HIs eyes still shifted back and forth, making sure that no more surprise attacks would come from his monster child, but he had a feeling that she was already long gone. Still, he had a hard time relaxing.

"You speak like a wizened soul, my dear Bell. I have a feeling that you'll be very wise some day. I hope you never lose your compassion. It is the only thing that saves me." He turned and gave her a small smile, but noticed that she was nearly asleep. Ah well, she deserved it. They would be home soon, and Charlotte would be so relieved. There would be much to explain, of course, but it would come in due time. He turned back towards the path, his eyes quite clear in the dark.

"Yes, my dear. Let's go home." And home they went.

Bellezza blinked toward her father, her soft eyes shinning a bit as she did so. She was indeed tired. The late nights activities had worn the little foal out. She let out a small whimper, her head tucking lightly against his neck, bright purple orbs looking up at her father as he walked. It had been only a few hours, but to her, it felt like several days. Her body was worn, and still bleeding. Bruised, battered, and tired, she murmured quietly near her father's jawline, only able to raise her head that much.

"Okay, Papa..." She whispered.

And with that, little Bellezza's head lowered some, and she fell asleep riding on her fathers back. It'd been a trialing night, with pain and relief, and she was glad to be going home. But the young foal was just too tired to stay up any longer.
