Painite really needed to get her timing right. On the stage, it was all about the timing. Not just missing cues, or going too early, but responding to a line in the right moment. Waiting for the audience, beating the audience, hitting the right beat.

She had not hit her beat with that attack, certainly. Next time: slash first, gloat after.

This was not the first time she had told herself that lesson. And likely would not be the last time. Her exuberance and cockiness ran away with her, leaving her stupidly open to getting attacked or giving herself away.

"Richterite!"

Painite saw the Lieutenant go flying, growling and lunging at Corvus. She didn't pull her javelin from the senshi's grasp, instead opting to slam into her with her shoulder in an effort to throw her off balance. Close combat was always tricky, but Painite was certain that the Negaverse had the upper hand there.

"I'm alright." He waved one hand while trying not to wince, pushing himself up off of the remains of the bench as he did so. He was going to feel every inch of that attack come morning; both from the senshi and the blasted bench.

Memo to self: don't get between fighting girls again. Smooth, Rik. Smooth. He shook his head as he summoned his cards back to his hand, readying himself to make another diversion for Painite if need be.

The slam into her shoulder -did- catch her off guard, causing her to rock back onto her heels and slip on one of them. She still didn't release her hold on the Captain's weapon, though, if anything holding it all the tighter as though -somehow- she would be able to either keep herself from falling... Or pull the Captain down along with her.

Luckily for Corvus, and perhaps unluckily for Painite, the senshi was used to fighting with a Negaverse agent whose primary weapon was a staff of sorts and she was getting abit better with close combat thanks to her own passive power. "What's wrong? Did I strike a nerve? Don't tell me your comrades actually mean something to you..."

With her weapon still in the other's grasp, Painite should have felt more out of control. But she ddn't, she felt strong and she felt like she was in command of the fight right now. Sure, the Senshi had her weapon hostage, but was that really a good thing for her? Not in the slightest, if anyone asked Painiet for her opinion on it. The way she saw it, Corvus was just helping her.

"Of course he does! It's so easy for you lot to think of us as heartless monsters, but we're fighting just as hard for our lives and our beliefs as you are. We're the heroes of our story, though you paint us the villains. Unlike most of the others, though, I'm more than happy to play the bad guy for you."

She grinned broadly and banished her weapon suddenly, leaving the senshi gripping nothing. At the same time, she charged straight for her again, almost the same move with her shoulder as before, except now she called her weapon back to her hand at almost the last moment, hoping to stab the senshi with it. She spent a lot of time training, banishing and calling her weapon, coming up with tricks and cheats to use in a fight.

Sometimes they worked, sometimes they didn't, but it was always fun.

It was a good trick, a damn good trick; a trick that might very well have caught Corvus had she not herself been so intent on shutting the Captain up by releasing the second charge of her power in hopes of blasting the other off of her. It didn't seem as though it would work quite that way, though, given the sudden re-summon of the weapon. If she was lucky enough it would deflect the blow away from her, or maybe even blast the spear out of the Negaverser's hand.

"Blah, blah, blah..."

From where he had been watching he saw the sphere charge in the senshi's hand, cursing as he made a dive for Painite in hopes of knocking her away even if it meant tackling his momentary partner in crime to the ground for the moment. "Can't you girls find like... Jello or something to fight in?" He muttered, brow furrowing.

Painite felt the hit from the side, falling over in surprise. She hit the ground and looked at Rik expectantly, as if he had forgotten which side he was on and she was annoyed by that. Seeing the senshi and her attack, though, quickly revealed why the two Negas were now on the floor.

"Jello? That'd get us all sticky. And the last thing I want in this world is to be stuck to a senshi."

She shook her head, getting to her feet and helping Rik up with her. She called her weapon back to her hand, having dropped it in all the chaos. A bit ruffled that she had come so close to stabbing Corvus but failing in it, she looked at the senshi. Tense for round two. or whatever round it was now.

"I can play this game all day, senshi," she growled, knowing that, at least, her enemies usually had a limit to how much energy they could use, and how many times they could use their stupid little magical attacks. And once this one ran out, running her through would not be difficult. Probably.

"Can't say I'm to keen on the idea either, Pain." He huffed softly as he was pulled to his feet, dusting himself off as he smoothed his hands down over his sleeves. His fingers caught on one of his cards, flicking it in the direction of the senshi as though somehow that one piece of thin cardboard would be enough to send the Super crying home.

It wasn't, of course, but Richterite could and certain would hope.

"Mud, maybe?" His brow lofted, hopeful, looking for the briefest of moments as though he'd just had the best idea in the world.

"What makes you think I can't?" She managed a smirk, trying to deny that she was starting to feel just a little bit drained as she pushed herself back up to her feet, ignoring the dull ache in her arm where the Captain's spear had gone through both fabric and flesh. "Just because you've met one of us doesn't mean you've met us all..."

All she had to do was make sure that the last attack -counted-... Even if it was just enough for her to figure out where to run to.

Painite watched, though her eyes slipped over to him when he offered mud as an alternative to jello. She didn't have to say anything, but she imagined he understood she was turning the idea down. While mud fighting was not something she had any real problem with, and would probably do if she was having enough fun with it and was surrounded by her friends, but not with a senshi.

She hated them, after all. In case anyone was confused on that point.

"You're all the same, aren't you? Just like we are to you. What's the point of preeching to one another, when we're all just going to keep fighting regardless? We all represent just one part of the bigger picture, and it's that bigger picture that's doing the fighting. Our opinions and methods, individually, really don't matter. So, yes, in a very real way I've pretty much met all of you, and that's okay with me."

She growled, then lunged. She hoped Rik would follow her lead, and take whatever advantage her charge might give him. She had her javelin at the ready, ready to stab whatever part of senshi she got closest to.

All the same, aren't you... It was something that Corvus had heard before, although certainly not as a senshi. She had heard it in school as one of those girls; the sort of girls that were all the same, who did nothing but go around and pick on those who were different. Cordelia, the girl beneath the fuku, had been so convinced that she had been able to turn herself into something different... But to no avail it seemed.

She let out a shriek of frustration as she thrust both of her hands out in front of her, releasing one final burst of angry energy pent up from all of the harm that had been done to her that evening. "Violent Revenge!"

It was like Clash of the Titans taking place right in front of him. Someone was going to get hurt, likely more than just one someone from the looks of things... And Painite wanted him to do the right thing and throw himself into the fray. Into the fray... With an angry witch of a senshi and a girl with a spear when all he had... Was cards?

Painite was clearly crazy. Scheelite had been crazy. He was beginning to wonder if it was some sort of prerequisite that he had missed out on... Or if he was really just a good bit crazier than he'd ever bothered letting on.

"What the hell." He huffed, shaking his head as he shuffled through his cards once more before charging in along after his companion, letting his cards fly on in front of them (most likely to be the first things to be destroyed). "FOR SPARTA!"

Maybe Painite was a little crazy, but she liked to think it added to her charm. In truth, she had very strong convictions and a pure determination to do her job well, and have fun while doing it. That job included fighting senshi, even killing them, just as much as it did catching and draining helpless civilians. She knew what she stood for, what she was seen as, and how she wanted to conduct herself.

If they wanted a bad guy to fight, she was more than happy to supply. That didn't matter to her. Hell, she like being the bad guy: it was damn fun.

"Stay behind me, Rik! Get her when you get the chance!" She knew they had to move fast, and she hoped his reaction times were as good as she was betting on, or they would both be in a pickle. She charged, watching the cards get battered away by the oncoming magic attack. "Come on, Mr. Saddles!" She said to her weapon, quietly, through grit teeth.

She jabbed the weapon forward, aiming for the ball of energy as it rocketed toward her. She would take the brunt of the hit, maybe even split it with her weapon and give Rik an opening to just punch the senshi. Or something. She knew his weapon wouldn't do much damage, but still. She also knew that by attacking the ball of energy she was probably putting herself in the path of some pain.

All part of the job, at the end of the day.

Richterite waited as he was told, waiting for that moment... That right moment... And then pow. As the senshi's attack pummeled into Painite and her weapon he threw himself in, shoulder ramming into the senshi's stomach as he knocked her back to the ground, listening to the satisfying thud of her body hitting the ground beneath his.

He had succeeded in winding her; giving himself just enough time to pull back and pop her one (something he felt horrible for; he'd never liked hitting girls) to keep her disoriented as he scrambled back towards Painite. He slid an arm beneath the Lieutenant, tugging her back up before giving her a quick pat to make sure she still had the energy orbs that they had worked to gather. "C'mon, Pain... As long as we've got the energy we still win this round."

Corvus lie on the ground, gasping for breath as one arm draped over her side as if being able to hold herself tightly would somehow make it easier for the stunned, winded feeling to go away. Her jaw ached and she wanted to retaliate; needed to retaliate, but she couldn't. They were going to get away. Damnit, they were going to escape.

Painite got to her feet with his help, looking winded and pained. She grimaced and nodded her head. Maybe bruised and battered, but nothing a good nap or some energy wouldn't cure quickly. She hadn't gotten herself killed, at the very least.

Always a good thing.

She looked at Richterite, then at Corvus. She then saw the splinters of her weapon on the ground, looking miserable about it. It had never been so wholly broken before, and it seemed to really hit Painite like a loss. Yes, it would recover the next time she powered up, but for now she was without her precious Mr. Saddles.

"Let's get out of here," she agreed, nodding her head. She could teleport them away without worry. She would be exhausted because of it, but the fight was over. They just had to get out of there. She held on to him and prepared, growling at the senshi.

"Don't think you're getting away with this, Senshi," she said, before she teleported away with Richterite in tow, back to negaspace to drop off their energy and to be some place safe.
