Pride chuckled at Siddie's story. It made her feel sorry for the shadow, having to be paired with Sloth for much of anything, even if it was a simple table setting. Barth never made anything easy for anyone but himself. "He asked me whether I was still one of them. Avarice, that is. I guess I was shocked to hear it from him. He, West and I were some of the last ones in that damned chamber, but I am certainly glad it's all done and everyone's okay." Siddie might have been able to feel the demoness relaxing a bit. Her muscles were very tense, but now that there was someone else to talk to, she felt exponentially better.
She hoped the same relief could be given to Siddie. "Well, if it helps at all, I look at you because you have an amazing sense of fashion. I envy those dresses you pull off so well." Another chuckle means Carry had meant what she said, but she understood what Siddie was talking about when she said it felt that people were looking at her. No doubt the demons looked at her when she came into the dorm, and Pride wished her fellows would be more open minded. But she couldn't change people that stubborn.

"Really, really glad it's done and over with," Siddie agreed with a little shudder. "It's kind of turning into a blur for me. You know?" Probably her mind protecting itself, memory sliding into a fog that would keep the details mercifully hazed. She preferred it that way. It occurred to her to wonder what had happened to the missing professors, where they were now, what was happening ... No. She shook her head and made herself concentrate on the braid in her hands. Think about other things; if she thought too hard about that sort of thing, she might break down again. Unnecessary.
Carry's compliment genuinely startled her. She liked fashion, put a great deal of care into her style and her outfits, but she wasn't used to thinking of it as something worth - well, worth admiring. "Thank you," she said, something tight in her shoulders unraveling slowly. "I just like to dress up."
