The stallion tilts his head. "The grin is from Father. He is a forest god and charged the Croatoan with guarding this glade where Mother left him." At least that is what the young horse grew up telling himself to ease the hurt of abandonment. As the mask fell, the Croatoan let out a soft gasp. "You are even more striking without your cover, little moonlight. Why do you hide your beauty as you do?"

"Your father must of had the same grin..God of the forest..your mother must of been Queen.." she gets sucked into his story and imagines what life would be like with your parents rulers of the forest and then leave you in charge as a prince or princess. She snapped back to reality when she heard him gasp at her true face "I hide because i feel other will reject me for the way i look..but you your face is like a living mask and you choose to show it to the world..you comfort me..Your courage its..enough to make me show you my face"

"Who would reject a beautiful creature as you are?" the Croatoan asked, frowning slightly, then shook his head. "No, Mother was no queen. She was merely a cyrenei. Didn't stay to know her child, but he remembers peeking out of the basket to see her leave. Been here since then, watching over his glade for Father."

"You would be very surprised as to who would reject me..Your mother was one of my breed? That explains why you are of my breed to..My parents were killed when i was very young..me and my brother escaped by i have not seen him for quite some time..It is nice you watch the forest for your father.."

"I agree family is very important..You take good care of your fathers glade im sure he would be very proud of you" she looks back at him "my brother is very caring he only wants to best for me..if anyone tried to hurt me he would never forgive himself for giving them a chance.."

She could tell what he meant his father was gone from this world..he was in the sleep where one would never come back. She felt sorry for him his mother gone and his father dead..or perhaps did kings sleep and then awaken stronger than before? That could be it..but then he would have many powers and she had never heard of him before.. "Take good care of the glade..when he wakes up he wll be proud of you for doing well in his absence..My brother and i have grown distant..as foals we were each others life but things have happened and those things have drove us father apart.."

The stallion nodded silently. "The Croatoan is sad that your brother and you have grown apart. Perhaps you could talk with him and become close again?" Truly he was unsure what to do about sibling strife, having had no siblings of his own, at least to his knowledge.

"I feel the same way it is sad that we are growing distant..we should grow closer but time can do strange things..I do not think talking to him would solve this problem..there is a reason we are distant now..we both disprove of the others ways.." she nods to herself not wanting to share the stories

The stallion made a noise of noncommittal, seeming to understand the mare's unwillingness to discuss the issue with her brother. "Perhaps someday you shall see eye-to-eye once more." He moved a bit, shifting his weight. "You said you wished to know the secrets of the Croatoan. What were you hoping to learn?"

"I would hope so i wish to set our pasts aside and one more become the siblings who would die for eachother..although im still sure we would if it ever came down ti that for any reason.." She turns and looks at him now intently her glowing eyes locked on his face talking him in more. She has many questions for him and here he was offering to answer them. "I wish to know how you remain happy..how you deal with your past and future..how you cope with being a spirit..i wish to know many things about you..your secrets i think they can help me."

The Croatoan twitched an ear. Was he happy? Likely. "The Croatoan is not a spirit, little moon. He is a demi-god. His father is a forest god, after all. It makes him close to being a spirit, though, he supposes. He does not, however, wish to divulge secrets just yet." And rightly so since he was still getting to know this spirit.

"A demi-god..the son of a god..you are not of this world then..or you are but.." she takes that into consideration could she really be friends with a demo-god..? that must be why she felt so drawn to him like a pule that went though her drawing her to him "I can tell you something about myself if you like..What would you wish me to call you..? I am your moon but you are my.." she could not think of what to call him "grinning spirit..?"

"Friend, is a good word to call the Croatoan," he told her, shrugging. "It would please him to hear more of you and how you came here." He moved to settle down on the ground, lying among the grass.
