Avatre cast a glance down at Kairon's middle. "Perhaps the first order of business should be to find you some food, then." She offered a sharp-toothed grin. "I know hunger makes me quite irritable, I'm sure it doesn't do much for you either."

She glanced around their current location, brow scrunching as she frowned. "There are two ways to hunt in a place like this. The first is to find a tree to sit in, and wait. The second is to hunker down on the ground, and wait. The first is means prey can't smell you, but the smaller the target the quieter you must be to score a successful hit. The second means that you are easier to scent, but if you are downwind you have the chance of an animal blundering into you. Speed is key then."

Avatre raised an eyebrow. "Where do your strengths lie?"

Kairon found himself thinking about the situation. He wasn't sure which would be better. Ether way he was good when it came for waiting. The only reason his meal had happened to get away was the fact that the little annoyance managed to run into a close set of trees. The creature was smaller then him and was able to move about the group of trees freely where as he could barely get any closer. He found himself scoffing thinking about the whole situation.

"My strength lies in running." He glanced over at her. "If we can manage to get an animal out into the open I will be able to take it down." He looked away. "I had trouble last time... it decided to run into a close group of trees before I could take it down... and I would not fit..." An ear twitched in annoyance. "Ether way is fine with me..."

Avatre had to supress a sigh. It was all well and good to say his strength was running, but that wasn't going to get them very far in this forest. You just couldn't go all out, what with having to dodge through the trunks and all.

"I guess we'll wait on the ground then," she said. "It'll probably work better for you, if you can manage a fast start.

He nodded in agrement. She was right about it being better for him. He wasn't one to bother with climbing trees... especially these trees. The last think he needed was to get tangled up in the vines and not able to get out. Though he could easily burn the vines away but that could cause a blazing fire but he wasn't that idiotic. He had come across one Daeva who had got stuck in a tree before and decided to use his flames to get free. Fool. The forest had burned for days before it finally went out... but enough of the past. He needed to focus on what was going on now.

"I agree... The ground would be better. I am not foolish enough to risk getting tangled in the vines of these damned trees." He looked around the area. "And I'm able to get a fast start and keep speed for a good distance. We will be fine here."

Avatre nodded, and looked around. "It won't be too hard to find a good spot." She grimaced. "It might seem silly, but find a place by some thick undergrowth or trees, and try to completely cover yourself. Enough that you can't be seen, but not so much that it hinders you. The rest should be instinctual enough."

Avatre turned and sauntered off a few paces, then looked back of over her shoulder at Kairon. "I'll be nearby. Up a tree, so you won't have to worry about me getting in the way." That and dives were a specialty of hers. Only way to escape the twins of her foster family. "It's impractical for two Daevas to hunt the same spot in this kind of place. I'll come find you either when I make a kill or before it gets dark," she said.

She hoped this information wasn't off-putting to the male. After all it was only around noon. But this kind of hunting took a lot of patience. Well, she'd just have to wait and see...

"Its not silly its ridiculous..." Of course he didn't mean any insult toward her. He just didn't fancy the idea of being covered in the vary same growth that had been trying to capture him the whole time he was there. "But I will do as you say." He was at least trying to work with her. He liked having her around though he would never really admit it out loud. The last thing he wanted was to drive her away.

He nodded when she said she would be nearby. Why she would want to be up one of these trees was he own. She had her way of hunting and he had his. Though if she got stuck that would pose a problem...
"Alright... I will hunt here and do the same." She was smart when it came to hunting. Two Daevas in one place to make it too difficult to make a kill. "I wish you luck in your efforts." He then turned and walked off his way.

((I'm gonna do a little time skip.))

Avatre was feeling mighty proud of herself at the moment.

She'd gotten up the tree with no problem. Most assumed Daevas flew everywhere, but Avatre was actually pretty good at climbing. Her large body size, about the equal of a male Phim, was quite and advantage for reaching branches. A few climbing vines had gotten in her way, but nothing that impeded her.

She'd played the waiting game then. Honestly it took hours. There were moments were small critters frisked below her, but Avatre knew she needed something at least the size of a badger. Anything else was too hard to hit without it noticing you. Unfortunately small creatures were more observant than they had a right to be, and they usually did spot the threat.

So she'd been in that tree, watching squirrels and rabbits underneath taunting her, before her golden moment arrived. A herd of deer, four does, two buck, and two fawns, came wandering into the tiny clear space in front of her tree. Avatre didn't stop to think, but launched and dove at the most likely looking target.

To be fair the doe in her jaws was too young to have been a mother of fawns. She looked to be the age of the bucks, and all three of them had looked like they were only yearlings. Probably from the last litter the does had, just sticking around with their parents. All well and good for her that the father wasn't around. Avatre hated diving on horned animals.

Now that she had her prize, she was going back to the appointed meeting place she'd left Kairon in. Honestly she was half certain he was going to be long gone. Daevas weren't social by nature, even with each other, so it wouldn't be a stretch to assume he'd have just walked off on her.

Kairon made his way over to an area he found perfect for hiding. He set himself up and waited. Just who is that female Daeva and where did she come from? He found himself thinking about her wile he waited... it was strange. He never thought about a female before... ever. He comically glared at a passing lizard. It was rather annoying. His mind was more interested in the female then dinner. Lucky for him, his stomach rumbled reminding him of his true objective.

He looked up when he heard the bushes shift near him and some deer came out. A smile crossed his lips as he picked out a rather large buck from the group. His claws dug into the earth as he took off from his hiding place. He ran down the buck and managed to kill it sending the other fleeing for their lives. He stood over his kill with only a minor injury to his chest from a kick.

"Foolish animal..." Did it really think that a kick would stop him? He soon found himself laying down partly on his kill protecting it as he waited for the female. If she didn't get anything there was plenty here for them both.

((I had it that Kairon was the one that spooked the deer toward Avatre with out knowing it. if thats ok.))

((Well they'd be far apart, so he could have spooked the deer in that direction. They were calmly walking when then passed under her tree though.

And, sorry, my nitpicking side is raising it's head >.< If Kairon recieved a direct hit from a deer kicking him, he'd at least have a bruise and minor, bleeding cut. Deer have powerful legs, and their hooves are pointed and sharp. A deer can put it's hoof through a human chest with little effort, even with clothes in the way, if it kicks.

OTL I'm sorry, I can't help picking at things. You might have even meant his injuries like that, and I just didn't pick it up through the minor part...))

Avatre finally got to the spot, and blinked in surprise to see Kairon already waiting for there. Hmmm, that was certainly not what she'd been expected. She recovered her composure though, renewing her grip on the dead doe and continuing forward from where she had paused in her surprise.

She stopped about five feet away, giving each ample enough space without feeling like she was crowding them. After all, hungry males weren't something anyone wanted to mess with. She cocked her head to the side, and a tiny smile tugged at the corner of her mouth. "I see we were both successful. Perhaps we even hunted out the same herd. I feel quite sorry for them if we did, though that should have used up all their bad luck for at least a whole year."

He had been there for a wile and if it hadn't been for the noise and the sent of the female he would have dozed off. He glanced up as the female walked back into the area. Once she stopped he stood though with some difficulty thanks to the deer. It would seem he would have to do something about the wound before it gets worse.

"Yes..." he looked at his kill. "Its possible..." He looked back at her rather surprised at what she said and a little confused. "What do you mean? Why feel sorry for such weak creatures... The strongest prevail in this world."

Avatre shrugged carelessly. "It's possible to feel sympathy without becoming a sentimentalist. Besides, feeling superior tends to turn one either into a boring creature or someone who makes critical mistakes. If you cannot respect even what you precieve as a lowly creature, it may come back to bite you in the butt."

Avatre nodded towards Kairon, raising an eyebrow. "Or the chest, for that matter. You get kicked?" She glanced at Kairon's kill. Bigger than hers of course, being a male, and definetly very strong. She wouldn't at all be surprised to find the crimson fur was hiding the seriousness of the wound. High pain tolerance or machoism was all well and good, but punctures could fester and turn very nasty if not seen to properly.

((*knows this from personal experience with her cats* >.< Wait 'til one of those gets infected and you're squeezing pus out of it...))

"Hm..." Kairon listened to her words and thought about what she had said. It seemed logical yet he had never been taught this when he was young. "What you say... its is... logical..." She was a smart Daeva. "Mm..." He looked down at his chest at the wound he had gotten from the male deer. "Yes..." he looked over at the buck he had killed. "The animal hit me when I jumped at him. Of course it wasn't enough to stop me..." He looked back at her. "Do you know anything about wounds?"

He was curious. If she knew about this sort of thing he wouldn't have to go far to get treatment. It had been a wile since he had gotten such a wound. He was rather ticked at himself for allowing the buck to get at him. He was usually more careful with his attacks. This time he was sure it was his extrem hunger for something to eat that had clouded him.

Avatre plopped down on her haunches, taking care not to hit the tips of her wings on the ground. She was gratified that he took her words under advisement rather than reject them out of hand. It didn't necessarily mean he'd change his thinking, and she was fine with that. Every person had their own personality, and it was purest folly to attempt to change another. She just hoped her advice might help him at some point. But that was now pushed to the back of her mind.

"I know a bit, actually. Not enough to be called a healer, but I can go through the basics." She lifted her wings slightly in a mock shrug. "My....family, they took me in thinking I would be an only child. Then the female got pregnant and had a, by Daeva standards, large litter. I got to be the oldest, so I was usually the one treating playtime injuries. After I wandered away on my own I had to adjust my knowledge accordingly." One corner of her mouth twitched upward in a crocked smile. "I thought it would be a horrible waste if I died because I didn't know which herb could cure infection and which could kill me."

She glanced at Kairon's chest, then back at his face. "I'll let you be the judge. I can look at it now, or after we eat. I doubt the time will make a huge difference, especially not if you have a healthy body, and I think your temper might be better improved with food in your belly." Another crooked smile. "Generally when one's belly starts to speak it's only to gripe and cause annoyance."

He watched her closely as she started to talk about her family. He had never got on the topic of family with another deava before. Most of the time it was exchanged insults that lead to a fight yet here this female was opening up to him. Why? Was she telling him this cause she trusted him or for another reason. Ether way he enjoyed listing to her talk. Not that he would admit it of course. He glanced away.

"What makes you think I am interested in your past?" He averted her eyes trying to keep a level head. His father had been one of strick rules... a true deava before he fell in love with his step mother who got him killed. He was brought back when she spoke up again. "Your words are wise... and I hunger." he turned to the prey he had caught.

Avatre raised an eyebrow. "I was explaining how I came by my healing skills. I don't know about you, but if I've got a hurt I want to make damn sure whoever's trying to help at least knows their belladonna from their burdock." She cocked her head and grinned. "The rest is mostly filler."

Then she took her own advice and, following Kairon's actions, lowered her head to her doe carcass and began to sate her own hunger.

Kairon's reactions didn't bother her. It wasn't that a Daeva was more rude or aggressive, they were just a lot more honest about what they were thinking. Blunt was definetly a good word to use for it. And Avatre would prefer to know if someone didn't care what she was talking about, since she didn't pour her life story out to everyone and she'd like to save her breath if others didn't want to hear it. What she'd told Kairon, that was just the merest blip on the radar of what she had in her arsenal.

And she was sure Kairon had plently of stories of his own...
