There was a slight bob oh the bluenette's head as she acknowledged the remark about the cafe; she was certainly willing to try it, since there really weren't that many places open this late at night.
It never got old, the ability to jump from such dizzying heights and not take any damage. As long as you did it properly, and Selenite had no desire to twist her ankle for such a silly reason. As soon as she'd landed lightly on the ground, the bluenette powered down, revealing that the beads were part of the uniform; Elena's hair was flipped into a ponytail that probably took more work than it appeared. "I'm Elena, by the way," she introduced her civilian self. "Selenite too," she continued by way of a belated introduction of the Negaverse officer she had just been.

Ah, so part of the uniform they were.
The short girl did the same thing - powering down after her landing. Her hair now completely loose, free of the braid that had adorned it only a second before.
Odd how this magic worked !
"Im Ashley." She idly replaced the strap of her bag in place, as if she hadn't just jumped off the building. "Or Fluorite, depending."

A corner of Elena's mind probably would have agreed with Ashley's thought about how odd this whole magic thing was; every time Selenite came out to play, her hair was neatly braided and adorned with those blue ornaments that seemed to so fascinate the other girl. Not to mention the clothing changes!
"Nice to meet you," she replied with a courteous incline of her head. She was obviously not big on the whole 'touching other people' thing, since she didn't offer her hand or make any other sort of gesture along those lines. "Shall we?" she continued, smiling a bit and nodding a head further down the street as she twitched the hem of her skirt straight.

Ashley didn't seem to mind, or notice, really, the lack of offered handshake. It wasn't something she tended to offer herself on what she considered a normal meeting. Some might call her impolite for it, but she didn't really care much.
"Gimmie a sec..." She walked out of the alley and looked back and forth, trying to re position herself. The path she would have used to get there on the rooftops was different that the path one would need to take when confided to streets.
It seemed to restrictive now that she'd experienced roof-hopping. "Okay, this way."
She set out to walk the short distance there. "So... how long have you been doing this ?" She asked, curious.

There was a bit of impatient foot-tapping, but that was more an indicator of her overall impatience with life, and less to do with Ashley directly. She recognized the fact that streets often appeared to be more nonsensical when you were actually walking on them, instead of viewing them from above.
That was certainly one thing she'd never trade. The views from the city's rooftops were occasionally breathtaking.
"Um," she said, following the other lieutenant. "Since just before that coma thing, if you were around for that." There were a lot of people moving into and out of the area, so it was entirely possible Ashley had missed the whole thing.
Lucky her.

"Last summer ?" She'd heard about that, of course. Had a few friends that had been caught up in it, through thankfully no family... And the sleepers had awoken.
She knew all too well that not all of them did. The scenes she had seen had been heart-wrenching.
She turned the corner, hands going to her pockets in reflex since they were not needed. "Not that long, myself. Something like, uh..." She struggled to recall, really. She'd had more important worries that keeping the date. "A month ? Something like that."

Elena nodded. "I was...fortunate," she commented. "I woke up." And that was all she was likely to say on the matter.
"You seem to have picked it all up pretty quickly," she complimented. "Not everyone does." Indeed, Fluorite was a definite credit to whomever had recruited her. Lucky Scheelite, to have such a capable officer reporting to him.

Ashley nodded and seemed content to leave it at that, turning the next corner then stopping in front of the cafe, opening and holding the door for Elena to go in.
The cafe was on the small side, but cozy. It was clearly a place that catered more toward intimity than scale, which made it an handy meeting spot, come to think of it...
"I do try my best. It's... a lot to take in." That seemed almost like an understatement right there.

Once inside the cafe, Elena looked around and nodded once. This was a pretty decent cafe, based on the appearance alone. Small, but big enough to offer a bit of privacy to anyone sitting at a table.
"I'm sure you'll do fine," she commented, sitting down at a table.

It wasn't long before a waiter came to seat the two young girls - an easy feat, really, since the cafe was more or less empty.
With her order of a vanilla cappuchino done, Ashley nodded her head toward her companion. "Thank you. This is just... So new and... It makes me wonder how people just... Don't know what was going on. I didn't, before I was recruited..."

Elena ordered herself a raspberry cappuccino when the waiter asked; she normally didn't drink a lot of coffee, but she'd need it later. "People are very good at ignoring things going on around them," she replied while idly nibbling on her lower lip.
"They see something that doesn't fit within their expectations for the world, and so they dismiss it." She leaned back in her chair, eyes narrowed with distaste for the willful blindness so much of humanity seemed content with. "As if ignoring something made it go away."

"And then they do not see how the problem gets bigger..." How many, if presented with the opportunity they had both been given, would refuse to fight for the very ground they stood on, for the future and freedom of humankind as a whole ?
Not many, she expected. Probably explained why they seemed so very few. Earth's last line of defense.

"Exactly," she replied with a firm nod of her head. It was so refreshing to talk to someone who understood this sort of thing. Civilians tended not to, and not every Negaverse officer did either.
The waiter delivered their drinks then, and Elena took an appreciative sip of hers before continuing. "Which is what makes us - all of us - so important."

"Yes." She took a sip of her cocoa, cradling the cup in between her hands. They were free of nail polish, something that had once been rare, but now... Now Ashley had much more important things to do than waste her time pampering herself needlessly.
"I think every one of us brings something to the table that the other's don't... Even if we don't quite realize what it is yet." Her expression was quite telling - she wasn't aware of what she was meant to be in the cogs of the negaverse. Not yet, at least.
Perhaps time would shed clarity.
