Alba shook himself out of his state of awe. "Um, well, uh... How much space do you have for it?" He looked up and down the Great Wall of Television. "Good gods... The last time I shopped for a TV, I'm pretty sure they all came in box form." Had it really been that long? Used to be any TV that wasn't as deep as it was tall was only owned by the wealthiest people he knew. Now nearly-flat was the norm. And there were even some on sale!

"Umm.." She frowned, peering down at her hands as she attempted to figure out a good estimate for size using the space between her hands. "Maybe.. I guess... this much?" She probably should've gotten a better estimate before coming down here... Apparently she wasn't thinking straight today or something.

Like Alba, Claire had noticed the ones on sale too, and naturally gravitated towards those. "I don't want to spend too much, I don't need anything big or fancy... I just... ..does this one have a dvd player in it?" They could make those...?

"A wha?" DVD player in a TV? Had tech people switched straight to freaking sorcery? Alba followed after Claire and stared even more at her discovery. "You have got to be kidding me..." Seriously? Seriously??

The last time she'd bothered to look at TV's was with her parents... what, three years ago? It'd been on one of her trips back to visit them and her sister had demanded a new TV for her bedroom, but the selection hadn't seemed so.. so big. At least, not then. She couldn't really remember it well, it wasn't that important anyway, but at least the flatscreens weren't such a shock to her. Alba's reaction, however, elicited a questioning raise of her eyebrows. "When was the last time you went looking for a TV?" From his blatantly stunned reaction, it must've been a while...

After a few more minutes of looking and comparing seemingly identical TVs and brands, she finally picked one of those that had a built-in DVD player. It'd be one less item to pick out, one less item to buy, one less box to carry... On that thought, how was she going to carry this box? Her expression immediately turned skeptical as she leaned down - carefully, of course, since she didn't want to upset her hip - and tried a few experimental ways to lift it. That done, she struggled to shift it to a better position with which to carry it. Normally she'd be perfectly fine carrying a large, heavy box, but having an injury on her hip that made her practically limp made her feel annoyingly off-balanced, which made carrying anything bulky or heavy more difficult than it would've been otherwise. Thankfully it didn't take too long to get to the register, even if she was going slower than usual due to both her hip and the large box in her arms, and through some divine gift there was no line, so she immediately set the box onto the counter with a relieved sigh.

Alba answered the question with a well thought out, "Uhhhhhh." He scratched at the back of his neck and gave an embarrassed laugh. "Honestly? Maybe... ten, no... sixteen years? Wow." His eyes took on a slightly glassy appearance. "In the end, we decided we needed the money elsewhere. My dad gave us his old TV as an excuse to get a new one." Giving his head a shake, Alba came back to the present. "Sorry, didn't mean to ramble like that. You, uh, sure you don't want some help with that?" he offered, moving his arms as though ready to take the box for her as they went.

"That long?" She responded, brows raising in surprise. Holy crap that was.. that was forever. She took a moment to hand her card to the cashier, reflecting on her own life for a moment. "Wow, I was.. probably only 5 or 6 years old then." Holy Arceus that was forever ago, wow.

Anyway. After getting her card back and putting it away, she picked the box back up, trying to minimize any visible difficulty she was having with it, though probably not succeeding too well. "No, I've got it," she insisted as she headed towards the door, though was only marginally certain she'd be able to carry it... where? Well, she could just leave right away, but that would be rude, but it wasn't like she had anywhere to put it in the mean time anyw-- wait. ...how could Odette carry this? s**t. She really wasn't thinking straight today. Maybe the day in the cave had affected her more than she'd thought? "Umm.." She visibly slowed and hesitated, peering down at the box with a frown. Crap, how was she going to get this back to the base?

Yep, Alba was definitely behind on modern... stuff. Though, holding the door for her again, he did seem to catch on to the new dilemma rather quickly. "So, um, did you already have plans for how to get that back, or- Oh, wait a sec. Bill!'

A casually dressed young man, probably in his late teens or early twenties, stopped at the call and did a half turn while calling back, "What?"

"Where'd you park the van?"

"Got the same spot as last time, if you believe that," Bill answered, coming towards them. Noticing Claire and her purchase, he nodded knowingly and dug into a pocket. "Just don't forget to lock it back up when you're done, Rookie."

Alba caught the keys that were tossed to him in one hand. "Yeah, yeah. Will do, thanks." The other trainee had already started moving on again, and Alba turned to grin at Claire. He dangled the desired key between two fingers. "Crisis solved?"

Explaining her current situation would've been a bit embarrassing to say the least, especially due to the fact it was entirely her fault for not thinking - foresight, she usually had plenty of it. Damned mission - so after the short exchange between Alba and the random guy she didn't know, she offered him a sheepish smile. "Yeah, crisis solved," she affirmed with a small nod, still feeling incredibly stupid for such a blatant oversight - one of several so far this morning, at this rate she'd meet her year's quota in three days or less - and sighed lightly, shifting the box to try and hold it more comfortably. It didn't really work. "I guess I'm still a little.. ah... Frazzled or something," she suggested lamely with a shrug. "Being stuck in a cave all day will do that to you." Especially considering the circumstances, though she had no desire to talk about those at the moment. Besides, Alba probably heard all about the events of the botched mission by now anyway.

Alba nodded and hummed his agreement. On his shoulder, Spook was, for once, being quiet and looking content with just watching the city scenery as they walked. "I bet." The memory of Lucas and Aulus' yelling match came to mind again- Wait. "Did Lucas have work today? I didn't see him in the room this morning." Actually, he hadn't seen his roommate since the night before, when Lucas had left in a hurry to find Claire.

"Huh?" Oh, crap. "Um, I don't know," she said evasively, trying to focus on carrying the box without tripping or dropping it or anything. It was actually sort of hard. "He didn't mention it last time I talked to him." She would never admit anything ever. Now hopefully he didn't ask...

Zeus' ears twitched at the mention of the other scarred man, and he tilted his head to one side. He was the one who let the older man into Claire's room the night before and had remained guarding the door throughout the night. Lucas never left until this morning. Since he was a pokemon, however, and not a human and therefore couldn't verbally explain this, he merely yawned instead. It wasn't any of his business what the humans did or talked about anyway.

"Huh, okay. I just had the random thought that he might be around here somewhere. Figured he'd want to tag along and help out if given half the chance after yesterday." He looked down at the box again. "Speaking of, can I at least help carry one side of that?" If Claire wanted to make a point, he didn't know her well enough to argue that. Plus, he had enough experience with independent women to know better. But heck if he was going to face an angry Lucas back at the base that night if she somehow pulled a stitch or was otherwise hurt.

"Why would he be around here somewhere?" She asked, turning a clearly confused expression on the older man. ..wait, what? "What do you mean af--oh, thanks." The sudden offer of help would've been more appreciated if it hadn't interrupted her train of thought, which she quickly put back on track. "What do you mean after yesterday?" She had a sneaking suspicion that Lucas must've run off after immediately finding out about Galactic being there, and if that was the case then she might as well tell everyone over the loudspeaker that she was an ex-Galactic. Arceus, Lucas...

Taking advantage of the distraction, Alba decided to make an attempted leap at another by switching the box entirely to himself. "Hmm? Oh, nothing, really. You know, just everyone worrying about where you guys disappeared to. Oh, hey, I see the van!" he said in a voice that wasn't speeding up or sounding strained at all. And he was not speed walking now to the vehicle, either. Nope, not at all. Totally normal.

Well that was -- ..what? He just.. o-okay, he could have the box if he wanted to carry it so bad. Claire merely blinked, eyebrows raised in surprise and mild confusion. They quickly lowered to an unimpressed look at his obvious discomfort, so for the time being she simply sighed quietly and followed at a slower pace. It didn't take her too long to get to the van after him though, and when she got there she folded her arms over her chest and gave him a flat look. "What happened yesterday?"

Setting the box down so he could unlock and open the side of the van, Alba laughed. A very slightly not really nervous laugh. "Nothing happened. Everyone was just worried." He knew he was repeating himself, but really? What else could he say?

Closing the door and turning around answered that for him: nothing. He gave a deflated sigh. Busted. "Look, you have to understand. Your group vanished off the face of the planet, and when we finally heard there was some kind of sign, there was only one beacon. It didn't look very good." He used the excuse of locking the van back up to buy him a few more seconds. Not nearly as long as he would've liked. At least the van had been parked down a lesser used side street, and no one else on the main road seemed to have any reason to be there as well for now. "Lucas... may have gotten in a disagreement with Aulus. I don't know what it was all about. They were just two very unhappy guys. That's... that's all I can say." Shaking his head, he lifted and held out his hands briefly to the sides before letting them fall back to hang loosely, as though he didn't know what else he could possibly to offer.
