The task wasn't that easy. Though the earth was soft, her hooves were made for walking on top of it, not for this awkward scooping motion. She dug down deeper and deeper, scoring the ground with her foot repeatedly. Birds, she concluded, were really not as small as they looked. Plus, it had to be large enough so that even if someone stumbled across the spot, they wouldn't disturb the poor creature. Let the plants and the worms and the bugs get it, not the predators.
Finally, it was done. Her ankle ached from the exertion and her previous stumble, but she tried to ignore it, soothing it with a few pulses of her healing magic. Not enough to really help, but enough to ease the pain.
"There we go. Now we just need to..." She gazed back at its poor body, wondering how to transport it. Maybe they should wrap it in something. Some large leaves perhaps? In her cave, she liked to store her medicinal herbs in large dock leaves, maybe they would be a good thing to use. "I think we should wrap it up in some leaves, something like dock would be good. Then we can carry it over." Glancing at Briallan, she noticed the mare's worried expression. A nice soothing task would a good idea, she thought. "Maybe we could look for some flowers too, or some nice-smelling herbs, so that it will have a nice grave."
