"Have you ever actually seen someone do that?" It was halfway dismissive, but then Ever hesitated, pack of cigarettes in one hand and lighter in the other. Debating; maybe, actually. Maybe he had. But only real assholes, generally the kind of jerks that it wasn't worth arguing with....
He made a noise, shrugging, and eased over to perch on the window sill. The window itself stuck; he fumbled and fought with it, cursing quietly to himself [words that she would probably pick up and use later, to Zac's horror] until he got it open. "You went to bed early..."

"...Would i be being repetitive if i said i don't remember?" She flushed, a innocent question as she looked away. Pulling her knees to her chest she looped her arms around them.
Owlish eyes watched as he was struggling. ... What words was he saying? ...She didn't remember those. Sabine made a mental note to ask later about some of them. She really made no move to offer help, figuring if he couldn't get it open she would not be much use either. "Yeah... i don't know I've just been so tired since i woke up. It feels like i can never get enough sleep you know?" She felt like a cat, constantly sleeping.
"Why? Is it wrong to sleep early? You never really set any rules about living here."

"Worked out pretty well for me, actually." It was mumbled around the edge of his cigarette as he sat and fought with his lighter, his eyes taking on that somewhat excited edge again. Ever froze with the flame going, centimeters from his cigarette, not quite succeeding in lighting the end, as he thought about something else....
And then shook back into himself, tipping his head and drawing in a couple deep breaths of smoke as it caught. "Anyway. Doesn't work so great when you have to go to school in the morning, I guess, but I don't really care when you sleep..."

"Hah, well im glad it worked out then?" She said quirking an eyebrow. Maybe he was always this jittery. He just...seemed so happy at the moment. "School...yes school. Of course school. I guess sleeping through classes would get me a ruler to the back of the head huh?"
"Question, are you always like this? So... Happy? I dont know the word, you just seem like your going in and out of happy and blank staring i guess."

"Um. I think so. Maybe? Probably." His eyes resettled on her, smoke hissing out of the corner of his mouth and escaping through the window. Cigarette helped, starting to take the jittery edge out of h,m calming and quieting.
"Ask Zac. You need anything?" Ever gestured, loosely, with his cigarette. "Probably books, clothes, shoes..."

"And... well. I dont really own anything at the moment, not even the clothing on my back. I dont mind borrowing things but i will need to find a job or something to pay, i dont... well, i dont like bumming off others."
Smiling, she shook her head.
"you look like a chimney." She teased with a laugh as she watched the smoke pour out of his mouth. "... Why are you being so nice to me, seriously? Like..letting me live here." Sabine really did not know, maybe he was charitable?
"Was it an order from Zac?"

Like a chimney? He blinked at her as he drew in more smoke, thought about it -- and then tipped his head, carefully working his mouth to release another puff of smoke. It was meant to be a ring; it came out as more of a lopsided doughnut, dissipating quickly enough that she might miss it, if she wasn't looking hard.
Ever was, apparently, showing off for a teenaged girl. This might have been a first. "...um. It was a request, not an order. And I can't afford to pay, so it'd probably be Zac. Or we could just, you know, lift what you need."

Oh she saw it, she TOTALLY saw it. And like a child... she crawled closer towards him until she flopped on the bed, belly down, and stared. Lifting her torso on her elbows Sabine propped herself up better. "Can you do that again!!!?" She stared in wonder, never seeing someone do tricks before!
"........Are you suggesting we steal?" THAT caused her current hype of 'OMG DO IT AGAIN' to stop.

Just for her, he did it again -- and with the attention on him, he did an even shittier job. Alas. At least she was easily impressed. He leaned out the window with a soft sound to tap off his cigarette.
"Maybe. Little things." Ever was certainly going to skew her sense of morality, at this rate; hopefully Zac would be there to put it back right again, when the time came. At least he didn't drive it too far off course. "We can go look, anyway."

"Is stealing ok then? I... i dont know." Her better judgement was screaming at her, casuing her eyebrow to raise and giving him a rather confused look. But...all the same she was in a impressionable state at the moment.
And... Zac left her with him, so clearly he knew right?
Right?
"...If you say so."

"It's not okay, but I do it anyway, because I'm...uh. A pragmatist, I guess." Another little tap, and he set to polishing off the cigarette in earnest, nicotine kicking through his system and making the world a much smoother place to be. Ever shrugged, crookedly, absently, his eyes flitting over her to his own bundle of blankets...
"Lot of things like that, I guess. Just have to figure out where you're comfortable drawing the line." And all things considered, it wasn't a terrible mindset.

"...Whats a pragmatist?" She settled down a little as he spoke, sounding like she did not have to steal.. only maybe. She still was not too keen on the idea, but time would certainly tell.
"Like...drawing a line with a pencil? ...What if i dont have a pencil would i have to steal one of those too? or could i use a marker?"

Ever made a noise at the literal interpretation -- something like a snort, snuffing out the end of his cigarette and blowing smoke out his nose. No longer burning, he flicked the butt off the windowsill into the alley below; neither environmentally conscious nor concerned by the possibility of strangers walking below. It was late enough the street was probably empty.
"It's a metaphysical line." Which was a serious answer but came with bright, teasing eyes. She'd have to figure out what that word meant, too.

"Hey!" She pouted, clearly walking in to his trap blindly. "Thats just not fair! You said a line... You draw lines! Metaphysical... flinging big words at me." Clearly she was still pouting, and frustrated. Her face also was slowly turning a darker shade of pink as she turned away.
"Now i see what brother sees in you... sorta. You keep him on his toes don't you."

More than that -- the words started to form, but Ever managed to bite down on them and just grin helplessly as he got the window closed again, shook his head, smoothed hair back out of his face. That was as good as any for Zac to like him. Actually, maybe the only good reason...
Another man might have fretted over that. Ever just rolled with it.
He claimed his pile of blankets by halfway tumbling into it, wrapping himself up and dropping his head down onto the pillow. He raised his eyebrows at her. "Are you going to be able to sleep, or did you already rest too much...?"
