Ayidan glanced back at the trees, seeing the way the other looked, and then back at Zephyr. He listened to the other's question with some amusement, his head tilted to the side.
"W...what's it like? Hmmm." He thought for a long moment about how to answer that best, then finally said "I...it's nice, c...cool in the s...summer, w..warmer in w...w..winter then o...o...out here. I...i...in bad rains. th...th...there are always t...t...trees I ca...ca...can shelter under. It's quite nice."
He decided this young stallion was a kind fellow, and decided they'd make good friends. And he seemed to trust easily. Ayidan would have to keep an eye on him, if possible, to be sure others did not abuse his new friend's good nature.
"Ahhh. I h...h...have never b...b...been there, myself. H...how big is it?"

The woods seemed like maybe it'd be more stable than where he lived. Zep moved so that he was standing in the river a bit over his hoofs. It was a really nice feeling.
"The lake is huge! You could probably fit several herds in it without them bumping into each other. It's really nice in the summer because the breeze off the water keeps you cool, and you can jump in the moment you wake up. But during the fall it gets a bit windy, and during winter there's a chill that gets a bit hard to avoid when I have such a small herd."
It was just Zep and the other alicorn Roxanna. Both of whom spent more time with their mates than anything else. Then it was REALLY cold by the lake. Chilly.
"But it's great when it heats up. Maybe you could bring your family sometime and we can all relax by the lake!"

Ayidan watched him move into the water, curiously, then nodded. Ahhh, going to cool off, he understood that one. He moved a little, then settled back down into the grass, enjoying relaxing here.
"Mmm. I see. I've n...n...never gone sw...sw...swimming before, but it so...so...sounds like it might be lovely." He bobbed his head. "A...a...at least in the s...s...summer. I d...d...don't think I'd wa...wa...want to try swimming i...i...in the winter, I m...m...might freeze."
"Th...th...that would be n...n...nice, spend some t...t...time with friends and f...f...family together. I th...th...think we sh...should arrange that. Ma...ma...maybe have a group pi...pi...picnic type of thing with our va...va...various friends?"

Zep had exactly two friends, that weren't his dear Jubilee. Roxanna, and he-who-got-in-trouble. Roxanna could bring her stallion Eh? if she felt like it. But other than that he really didn't have many friends at all.
"Sure, we can see. I'm actually rather short on friends, but I can invite the two I have besides you. Roxanna will come for sure, and maybe drag her larger family along. She's wildly colored, and so is her entire family."
He whinned at that as well, because frankly you didn't get any brighter than Roxanna's family. Her father was even named Rainbow Swirl of all things. But it suited the kind stallion well. He was indeed, a swirl of colors. She came from a large, bright family. Zep was a little jealous, because he had no family besides Jubilee. Oh well, that meant he'd have to make one right?
"Do you have any brothers or sisters?"

Ayidan had a number of friends he'd met over time, but he never was sure when he'd see them. He wondered who he could get to come. He tossed his head a little as he thought, to get his mane out of his eyes, where it had fallen.
"Well I c...c...can see how m...m...many of mine I ca...ca...can round up and b...b...bring? I th...th...think they'd l...l...like you and you'd ha...ha...have more that way." He nodded, happily. "A...a...and I understand. I m...m...may be quite pl...plain, but my father is colorful, a...as are some of my siblings, in th...th...the mane at least."
Indeed, his brother Prism had quite the pastel rainbow mane, and his father Dancer had the bright Rainbow mane. Other siblings... Well... He'd lost track, he knew his mother had children older then him with another stallion, and his parents had bred again. He wasn't sure how big the family tree had gotten at this point, in fact...
"Ohhhh yes, I h...h...have... um..." He thought. "7 s...s...siblings from Mom and D...d...dad, plus 3 from M...m...mom's previous partner. I a...a...am not sure how many n...n...nieces and nephews I have, l...l...let alone gr...gr...grandnieces and nephews, and so on." He suddenly felt a bit old, saying that.

It was good to make new friends! If they weren't scary. But Zep had a feeling that if they were friends with Ayidan, they probably wouldn't be the scariest sorts. The stallion smiled, then looked rather shocked when Ayidan told him exactly how big his family was.
"Gosh! I think that's gotta be at least as big as Roxanna's family. I think. There's a lot of cousins and stuff there, though I suppose you have a lot of nieces and nephews!!"
That would be a lot of children running around. Doubly if all of them had babies at the same time? So many foals and fillies would be running around!!! It was an odd thought indeed to the hybrid. His mother and father had been an one time thing, and frankly he had never known his father. And he had left his mother's company as soon as he was old enough. Well, at least he didn't have to see her anymore. That was for the better.
"It'll be a nice big party! It should be really fun!"

Ayidan's friends were mostly nice, and he had a feeling Zephyr would like them. He certainly hoped so, and if nothing else, he figured Dance and Zephyr would be good friends! He blinked, seeing the shock, and tried not to laugh, knowing it was rude.
"I b...b...believe I have a f...f...few. It's h...hard to keep track, wh...wh...when your family is large, sometimes. Ev...ev...everyone off on their own, w...w...with their immediate family, y...y...you see."
Ayidan found himself drifting off into thoughts of a family reunion for a moment, wondering how big the family had gotten. So many siblings, how many nieces and nephews DID he have? It would be interesting to find out, and try to track them all down. He sighed a little, wondering if he could even do it.
"Y...yes, I think i...it would be lots of f...f....fun!"

Zephyr smiled at his new found friend. His world had gotten a little bit larger. How many friends was that now? Two, if he didn't count his mate. After all, life mate was a little bit deeper than friendship, wasn't it? At least to Zep.
"Maybe one day I'll be the head of a very large family..."
Wasn't that an idea? He'd have to have his first set of kids though. Considering Jubilee wasn't even preggers at the time, it was def. a dream work in progress. And something to think on later on. Not a good idea right now!
"Alright, we'll for sure have to set this up then!"
He was all sorts of excited about it though, and wanted to tell his mate, and his single other friend. It could be all sorts of fun! And maybe he could make a few more friends on the way to invite as well.
"If we could give it a few weeks, the weather at the lake should be perfect for a get together. Nice and sunny!"
